A study on the design and characteristics of kinematics of 6 degree-of-freedom manipulators (6자유도 조작장치의 설계와 기구학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The Six Degree-of-Freedom manipulators are generally operated by linear actuators which are hydraulic cylinder, pneumatic cylinder, ball-screw. But these actuators are not adequate to have a wide work-space, and furthermore some of them have a self-locking property. Therfore, we have designed a new manipulator which fully overcomes these demerits. The new manipulating system consists of 6 DC-motors to generate operation forces and 6 position transducers to feedback displacement signals. This paper presents an overview of the design and characteristics of 6 Degree-of-Freedom force feedback manipulators for vitual reality implementation. we can operate Six Degree-of-Freedom manipulator with six motors and six potentiometers.

  • This paper describes the formulation of rectangular flat shell element that is modeled with the six degree of freedoms including a rotational degree of freedom. The rectangular finite element matrix with a rotational degree of freedom is developed using a beam stiffness matrix and compared with other methods. The outputs of the quantity of vertical deflection of cantilever beam show us the improving evidence of the Frame-Shell finite element matrix in a calculation of vertical deflections of cantilever beam.

  • In this paper, six-degree-of-freedom (DoF). Displacement measurement technique using a compact stereo-vision system is proposed. The measuring system consists of a camera, an optical prism, two plane mirrors, and a planar marker on a target. The target was attached on an object so that its six-DoF displacement can be calculated using a proposed coordinates estimating algorithm and stereo images of the marker. A prototype was designed and fabricated for performance test. From the test results, it can be confirmed that the proposed measuring technique can be applied to monitoring and control of various manipulators.

  • A new design methodology is presented for the multi-degree-of-freedom vibration absorber for an elastically suspended rigid body with planes of symmetry in general motion. Unlike the common single degree-of-freedom vibration absorber, the presented methodology makes use of both linear and rotational properties of the absorber. It is suggested that an absorber is designed separately for the in-plane and out-of-plane vibration modes and thereby combined the two cases for a six-degree-of-freedom absorber. The nine possible design methods are suggested for the six-degree-of-freedom absorber when an elastically suspended rigid body has one, two, or three planes of symmetry.

  • The method of designing robust two degree of freedom(2 DOF) controllers for linear systems with parameter uncertainties and unmodeled dynamics is presented in this paper. Robust performance condition that accounts for robust model matching of closed loop system and disturbance rejection is derived. Using the robust performance condition, the feedback controller is designed to meet robust stability and disturbance rejection specifications, while prefilter is used to improve the robust model matching properties. The $H^{\infty}$ and $\mu$ controller for six degree of freedom vehicle with parameter variations are designed and compared. Simulations for hydrodynamic parameter variations and disturbance are presented to demonstrate the achievement of good robust performance.

  • A machining system that generates accurate relative motions between the tool and workpiece is required to realize ultra precise machining or measurements. Accuracy improvements for each element of the machine are also required. This paper proposes a machining system that uses a compensation device for the six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) motion error between the tool and workpiece. The compensation device eliminates elastic and thermal errors of the joints and links due to temperature fluctuations and external forces. A hexapod parallel kinematics mechanism installed between the tool spindle and surface plate is passively actuated by a conventional machine. Then the parallel mechanism measures the 6-DOF motions. We describe the conception and fundamentals of the system and test a passively extensible strut with a compensation device for the joint errors.

  • In this paper, a five degree-of-freedom haptic device is proposed. The proposed haptic device has a pen which is suspended by tensioned six strings. Human operator handles the pen. Six DC motors are used as actuators to generate tensions in six strings to make resultant force feedback at the pen to the human operator Six encoders are used for calculating the movement of the pen. A digital controller is used for generate control signals for the suitable tension in the six strings. A current amplifiers is used for amplifying the control signals. Cable-suspended system has advantages of structure simplicity (only with several strings driven by motors without using other tensioning mechanisms), low inertia, and high force-to-weight ratio.   • Two problems in the measurement of 6-DOF head vibration in very low frequency range were investigated in this study. One is how much error was involved in the estimation of three rotational and three translational motion at any specified point from measured 6 translational accelerations. The other is quantitative and qualitative influence of gravity on DC and AC component of the estimated accelerations in 6 degree of freedom, which were derived from pick-ups fixed on a helmet. In the study the effect of nonlinear terms on the estimation of 6 degree of freedom accelerations was negligible but gravity effect must be considered carefully.

The Change of Shoulder Flexion by Degree of Freedom in The Individuals (운동자유도에 따른 어깨관절 굴곡각도의 변화)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was conducted to find the change of shoulder flexion by degree of freedom between the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation(PNF) pattern, the flexion- abduction- external rotation, and not PNF pattern, the flexion- exteral rotation(except abduction)movement. Method : PNF pattern applied on the unilateral upper extremity in all subjects were the flexion- abduction- external rotation, and not PNF pattern, and twenty-six normal subjects(13 male, 13 female) were tested by Cybex Norm Testing & Rehabilitation System. Results : PNF pattern showed significant increase of flexion than not PNF pattern, the flexion-exteral rotation(except abduction)movement, and also the female group was significantly increased than male group. Conclusion : The results suggested that the application of PNF pattern to the unilateral upper extremity had affected on the shoulder flexion by degree of freedom.

  • This paper presents the design concept, theoretical investigation, and fabrication of a six-degree of freedom (6-DOF) turbulent flow micro sensor utilizing the piezoresistive effect in silicon. Unlike other flow sensors, which typically measure just one component of wall shear stress, the proposed sensor can independently detect six components of force and moment on a test particle in a turbulent flow. By combining conventional and four-terminal piezoresistors in Si (111), and arranging them suitably on the sensing area, the total number of piezoresistors used in this sensing chip is only eighteen, much fewer than the forty eight piezoresistors of the prior art piezoresistive 6-DOF force sensor.
