  • This paper is on the discrete model reduction method over disc-type analytic domains. We define hankel singular value over the disc that is mapped by standard bilinear mapping. And the generalized singular perturbation approximation and the direct truncation are generalized to GSPA and DT over a disc. Furthermore, it is shown that the reduced order model over a smaller domaing has a smaller .inf.-norm error bound. And the poposed reduction method is used to obtain the regional pole placement property.

SNR Scalable Coding of 3-D Mesh Sequences Based on Singular Value Decomposition (특이값 분해에 기반한 3차원 메쉬 동영상의 SNR 계층 부호화)

  • We propose an SNR-scalable coding algorithm for three-dimensional mesh sequences based on singular value decomposition (SVD). SVD achieves a coding gain by representing a mesh sequence with a small number of basis vectors and singular values. First, we introduce a bit plane coding scheme and derive a quantitative relationship between each bit plane and the reconstructed image quality. Using the relationship, we develop a rate-distortion (RD) optimized coding algorithm. Moreover, we propose prediction techniques to exploit the spatio-temporal correlations in real mesh sequences. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides significantly better RD performance than conventional SVD coders.

  • In this paper, we designed the dental surgery system based on PC. This system predict post operated 3-dimensional image, So the patient has no need to take CT after surgery and expose his body to radiological damage. We predict the post operated skull from the patient's CT with pre and post cephalometry X-ray. Our novel procedures, to register X-ray and CT, are based on anatomical landmarks, singular value decomposition. And we display the predicted image 3-dimensionally by surface rendering. We verified this system by dry skull experiment and clinical experiment. When significance level is 0.05, there is on significance.

  • In this paper, we propose the image watermarking method for good compression ratio and satisfactory image quality of the cover image and the embedding image. This method is based on the singular value decomposition and the vector quantization using fuzzy c-mean clustering. Experimental results show that the embedding image has invisibility and robustness to various serious attacks. The advantage of this watermarking method is that we can achieve both the compression and the watermarking method for the copyright protection simultaneously.

  • For a class of singularly perturbed uncertain system, an output feedback control law is designed. The controller structure is designed based on the uncertain reduced-order system, and the controller parameters are determined by information on the reduced-order and full-order systems. It has been shown that the reduces-order system with the designed controller possesses a stability property(specifically, a global uniform attractivity). Furthermore, the stability property of this control scheme is robust with respect to singular perturbation ; i.e., the full-order system, subject to the same controller, possesses the global uniform attractivity, provided the singular perturbation parameter $\mu<\mu^{*}$, where a threshold value $\mu^{*}$ can be computed from the information available on the full-order system.

  • 본 논문은 비최소 위상을 가지는 시스템에 대한 역변환 문제를 실험적으로 고찰, 연구하였다. 일반적으로 선형적이고 인과적인 시스템의 입$cdot$ 출력관계는 행렬형태로 공식화할 수 있다. 최소위상(minimum phase) 시스템의 시스템행렬은 항상 역행렬이 존재하며 안정적이지만 비최소 위상(non-minimum phase)시스템의 시스템행렬은 근사특이(near-singular)행렬 또는 특이(singular) 행렬이므로 불량조건(ill-conditioning)이 발생하고 역변환이 존재할 수 없다. 비최소 위상 시스템의 역변환 문제는 다른 과정을 포함하지 않고서는 인과적이고 안정적인 역변환 필터를 가질 수 없다. 따라서 역변환 필터의 구현을 위해 SVD(singular value decomposition)를 이용하였다. 비최소 위상 시스템인 경우 시스템행렬은 하나이상의 매우 작은 특이 값을 가지며 이것은 시스템의 위상정보를 가진다. 이 성질을 이용하여 시스템의 근사적인 역변환 필터를 구현하고 비최소 위상을 갖는 외팔보에 대해 실험적으로 검증하였다.

A Hybrid Coordinate Partitioning Method in Mechanical Systems Containing Singular Configurations

  • In multibody dynamics, DAE(Differential Algebraic Equations) that combine differential equations of motion and kinematic constraint equations should be solved. To solve these equations, either coordinate partitioning method or constraint stabilization method is commonly used. The most typical coordinate partitioning methods are LU decomposition, QR decomposition, and SVD(singular value decomposition). The objective of this research is to suggest a hybrid coordinate partitioning method in the dynamic analysis of multibody systems containing singular configurations. Two coordinate partitioning methods, i.e. LU decomposition and QR decomposition for constrained multibody systems, are combined for a new hybrid coordinate partitioning method. The proposed hybrid method reduces the simulation time while keeping accuracy of the solution.

  • In this paper, we consider the design method of robust guaranteed cost controller for discrete-time singular systems with norm-bounded time-varying parameter uncertainty. In order to get the optimum(minimum) value of guaranteed cost, an optimization problem is given by linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the upper bound of guaranteed cost function are proposed in terms of strict LMIs without decompositions of system matrices. Numerical examples are provided to show the validity of the presented method.

Sensor Fault Detection of Small Turboshaft Engine for Helicopter

  • Most of engine control systems for helicopter turboshaft engines are equipped with dual sensors. For the system with dual redundancy, analytic methods are used to detect faults based on the system dynamical model. Helicopter engine dynamics are affected by aerodynamic torque induced from the dynamics of the main rotor. In this paper an engine model including the rotor dynamics is constructed for the T700-GE-700 turboshaft engine powering UH-60 helicopter. The singular value decomposition(SVD) method is applied to the developed model in order to detect sensor faults. The SVD method which do not need an additional computation to generate residual uses the characteristics that the system outputs in direction of the left singular vector if an input is applied in direction of the right singular vector. Simulations show that the SVD method works well in detecting and isolating the sensor faults.

Development of non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller design algorithm for singular systems (특이시스템의 비약성 $H_{\infty}$ 제어기 설계 알고리듬 개발)

  • In this paper, we consider the synthesis of non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ state feedback controllers for singular systems and static state feedback controller with multiplicative uncertainty. The sufficient condition of controller existence, the design method of non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller, and the measure of non-fragility in controller are presented via LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique. Also, the sufficient condition can be rewritten as LMI form in terms of transformed variables through singular value decomposition, some changes of variables, and Schur complements. Therefore, the obtained non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller guarantees the asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed loop singular systems within a prescribed degree. Moreover, the controller design method can be extended to the problem of robust and non-fragile $H_{\infty}$ controller design method for singular systems with parameter uncertainties. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the design method.
