고추 건조기(乾燥機)의 개발(開發)에 관한 연구(硏究) -시뮬레이션 및 최적화- (Development of Red Pepper Dryer -Simulation and Optimization-)

  • Simulation model was developed to analyze drying process for tray type red pepper dryer and validated by experiments. This model could predict satisfactorily temperatures and moisture contents of red pepper and temperatures of drying air during drying. Optimize algorithm was developed to search control valiables (drying air temperature, air recycle ratio and air flow rate) of red pepper dryer based on a criterion of minimizing energy consumption under the constraint conditions that statisfied carotenoid retension of at least 210mg per 100g dry matter, the moisture content of bottom layer of 15% (d.b) and drying time of less than 35 hours. Step changes in drying air temperature and air recycle ratio were considered in the optimization. In single step in control variables, the difference of the moisture content between top layer and bottom layer was great and more fan power was required. As the drying trays were exchanged when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 100% (d.b), fifty percent of energy was saved and the difference of moisture content was little. In double step changes in control variables, optimal conditions were found by changing the step when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 100% (d.b) (about 19.8 hours from starting drying). Optimum air flow rate was $18.1cmm/m^2$. Optimum drying air temperature and air recycle ratio in the first step was $55.8^{\circ}C$ and 0.80, and in the second step $65.6^{\circ}C$ and 0.88, respectively. In triple step changes in control variables, the optimal conditions were found by changing the steps when the moisture content of bottom layer reached to 250% (d.b) and 150% (d.b). Optimal air temperatures were $66.2^{\circ}C$, $58.4^{\circ}C$ and $66.9^{\circ}C$, and optimal air recycle ratios were 0.778, 0.785, 0.862 at each step, respectively. Optimal air flow rate was $18.9cmm/m^2$. The best operating mode was triple step mode considering energy consumption, drying time, fan power, and quality of dried red pepper. When the triple step mode was used to dry the red pepper, the energy consumption was about 16.5%~57.2% less than that of the single step mode and the drying time was 6.6 hours shorter than that of the double step mode.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of covering yarn's twist on mechanical properties of knitted fabrics of composite yarns with single covering process. Four yarns that were used in this study: two different composite yarns made from the four kinds of cotton and functional polyester-(Poly-A) with the ratio of 52:48, and the rest two yarns are the original cotton 100% yarn and the poly-A 100% yarn. The two kinds of composite yarns, CP1 and CP2, were processed on the single covering process. CP1 was applied on the single covering process with S-800 tpm, where Poly-A was used as covering yarn and cotton was used as core yarn. CP2 was applied on the same process as CP1 except that Poly-A had been applied on the two-for-one twisting process with S-400 tpm on the previous step. Sixteen mechanical properties of all the four knifed fabrics knitted under the same knitting conditions were measured by KES-FB system with the outer knit condition. And 3D CAD dressmaking simulations, which were driven by some of the mechanical properties, were presented. The results were as follows: CP2 had high RT values with twisting of covering yarn. CP2 also had high B, 2HB values because of higher linear density. SMD was affected rather by twisting of covering yarn than by fine hair of the cotton surface. Twisting of covering yarn made it decreasing T value and increasing W value. Dressmaking 3D CAD simulations showed that there are buckling effects on CP2 because of high bending rigidity and shear rigidity.

T7 박테리오파지 gp4 DNA helicase에 의한 DNA unwinding에서 step size의 반응속도론적 측정 (Kinetic Measurement of the Step Size of DNA Unwinding by Bacteriophage T7 DNA Helicase gp4)

  • T7박테리오파지 gp4는 dTTP 가수분해에너지를 이용하여 DNA복제시 이중 나선 DNA를 단일가닥 DNA로 풀어내는 나선효소(helicase)이다. T7 나선효소의 활성형의 4차구조는 한가운데 구멍을 지닌 육량체 고리모양이다. 단일가닥 DNA는 나선효소가 $5'\rightarrow3'$방향으로 이동할 때 육량체 고리의 구멍으로 빠져나간다. 이러한 DNA의 이중나선 풀어헤침을 빠른 효소반응속도 측정법을 이용하여 정량적으로 측정하였으며, 그 결과 단일가닥 DNA 산물들이 생성되기 전에 지연상태(lag phase)가 존재함을 관찰하였다. 이러한 지연상태를 나선효소에 의한 이중나선 DNA의 풀어헤침이 속도론적 단계과정(kinetic stepping)을 거친다는 모델로써 분석하였다. 예상대로 이중나선의 길이가 클수록 지연상태의 지속시간이 늘어났다. $\tau7$ 나선효소가 이중나선 DNA를 풀어내는 과정에서 넣어준 trap DNA는 풀어내는 이중나선 DNA의 양을 변화시키지 못하여서, $\tau7$ 나선효소가 매우 큰 공정성을 지닌 효소임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 속도론적 data를 global fitting법을 써서 kinetic stepping 모델에 적용한 결과 매 단계(step)마다 10∼l개의 염기쌍이 풀려지고 1초당 3.7번의 step이 일어난다는 것을 알 수 있었다. DNA 풀어헤침과 dTTP가수분해의 메커니즘과 이들의 연계성은 $4∼37^{\circ}C$사이의 온도범위에서 영향을 받지 않았다. 이상을 종합할 때, T7나선효소의 이중나선 DNA의 풀어헤침 시 나타나는 속도론적 단계과정은 DNA복제 시 이용되는 나선효소의 내재적 속성임을 알 수 있다.

Electrode-Evaporation Method of III-nitride Vertical-type Single Chip LEDs

  • An electrode-evaporation technology on both the top and bottom sides of the bare vertical-type single chip separated from the traditional substrate by cooling, was developed for III-nitride vertical-type single chip LEDs with thick GaN epilayer. The post-process of the cooling step was followed by sorting the bare vertical-type single chip LEDs into the holes in a pocket-type shadow mask for deposition of the electrodes at the top and bottom sides of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs without the traditional substrate for electrode evaporation technology for vertical-type single chip LEDs. The variation in size of the hole between the designed shadow mask and the deposited electrodes owing to the use of the designed pocket-type shadow mask is investigated. Furthermore, the electrical and the optical properties of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs deposited with two different shapes of n-type electrodes using the pocket-type shadow mask are investigated to explore the possibility of the e-beam evaporation method.

Al-Cr의 동시확산과 플라즈마 질화의 복합처리에의한 표면향상에 관한연구 (A Study on the Duplex Treatment of Simultaneous Aluminizing-Chromizing and Plasma Nitriding for Improvement of Surface Properties)

  • A duplex surface treatment process of simultaneous aluminizing-chromizing process followed by plasma nitriding was performed on AISI HI3 steel and STS 403 steel. The properties of these duplex-treated steels were investigated and were compared with those of steels treated by single process of either simultaneous aluminizing-chromizing or plasma nilriding, in terms of microstructure, microhardness and high temperature wear resistance. Sim~dtaneous alumizing-chromizing process was done using a 2-step coating cycle and plasma nitriding process was done at $530^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hour. AISI HI3 steel and STS 403 steel showed a FeA1 compound layer of approximately 350$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness on the surface after simultaneous diffusion coating and nitrided layer of approximately 70-80$\mu\textrm{m}$ formed after the subsequent plasma nitriding process. The microhardness was improved much more by the duplex surface heatment than only by plasma nitriding. In addition the duplex treated specimens showed an improved high temperature wear resistance.

Regeneration of Spent Carbon by a Novel Oxidative Thermal Process

  • An oxidative thermal regeneration process was developed and evaluated for its potential applicability in several environmental areas. The feasibility of the process is affected strongly by the gradual carbon loss, energy consumption, physical changes of carbon, and effective destruction efficiency of adsorbed materials during the regeneration. The aim of the study is to determine the optimum conditions to maintain acceptable destruction efficiency for adsorbed organics, controlling oxidant flow rate. Prior to its applications, various preliminary tests were carried out to determine the effects of experimental parameters on the process. The tests performed were reaction temperature, carbon loss, surface area, surface structure, and adsorptive property. The results of these tests show that the parameters are dependent on oxidant flow rate, and suggest that the process is comparable and, in some ways, possibly superior to conventional regeneration techniques because the oxidative process is a single step and less energy intensive.

국내 Single IRB 현황 및 도입에 대한 설문조사 연구 (A Survey on Current Status and Introduction of Single Institutional Review Board (IRB) in Korea)

  • Purpose: Clinical studies require institutional review board (IRB) approval based on the ethical principle and regulations. While the number of clinical studies has been increased and diversified, duplicated IRB review for multi-center studies has become a major issue. Therefore, single IRB system has been suggested in revised Common Rule. This study aimed to identify and assess the current status of single IRB in Korea and the anticipated needs of single IRB from researchers and IRB member or administrators. Methods: We developed 14 questions including perceived advantages and disadvantages of single IRB, and anticipated problems. The online survey collected opinions on single IRB from researchers, IRB members and IRB administrators. We also interviewed five IRB administrators who have an experience of single IRB. Results: A total of 80 responses were analyzed in this study. Although efficiencies were suggested for the advantages of single IRB in terms of reducing burden of duplicated review, respondents also perceived that the different review criteria between single IRB and each IRB would be a major hurdle for adopting single IRB system. Therefore, the standardization of standard of procedures (SOP) and the standardization of IRB submission materials should be preceded. According to the small group experiences of single IRB in Korea, we also observed the similar anticipated problems of single IRB. Conclusion: Single IRB system has many advantages for conducting multi-center trial. However, many specialists still have a lot of concerns about introducing a single IRB system in Korea. Therefore, a gradual, step-by-step process for conducting a single IRB system in Korea will be needed. Many studies for improving currently suggested single IRB system and the improvement of awareness about the essential of single IRB system would be needed.

Stepwise Ni-silicide Process for Parasitic Resistance Reduction for Silicon/metal Contact Junction

  • The parasitic resistance is studied to silicon/metal contact junction for improving device performance and to lower contact/serial resistance silicide in natural sequence. In this paper constructs the stepwise Ni silicide process for parasitic resistance reduction for silicon/metal contact junction. We have investigated multi-step Ni silicide on SiGe substrate with stepwise annealing method as an alternative to compose more thermally reliable Ni silicide layer. Stepwise annealing for silicide formation is exposed to heating environment with $5^{\circ}C/sec$ for 10 seconds and a dwelling for both 10 and 30 seconds, and ramping-up and the dwelling was repeated until the final annealing temperature of $700\;^{\circ}C$ is achieved. Finally a direct comparison for single step and stepwise annealing process is obtained for 20 nm nickel silicide through stepwise annealing is $5.64\;{\Omega}/square$ at $600\;^{\circ}C$, and it is 42 % lower than that of as nickel sputtered. The proposed stepwise annealing for Ni silicidation can provide the least amount of NiSi at the interface of nickel silicide and silicon, and it provides lower resistance, higher thermal-stability, and superior morphology than other thermal treatment.

친환경 고체산화제 ADN의 합성 공정 (A Synthesis process of ADN as Green Solid Oxidizer)

  • ADN은 환경적인 그리고 독성적인 측면에서 ammonium prochlorate를 대체하는 현재 연구중인 물질이다. 고독성의 발암물질인 하이드라진을 대체할 수 있는 액체 추진제에 적용되기도 한다. ADN의 합성은 현재 GUDN(Guanylurea dinitramide)과 potassium hydroxide를 통해 potassium dinitramide(KDN)얻을 수 있다. 두 번째 반응 단계는 KDN과 ammonium sulfate를 반응하여 ADN을 얻어진다. 우리의 새로 개선된 공정은 GUDN으로부터 한단계로 ADN을 합성하는 것이다. 부산물의 양을 줄이고 잠재적으로 낮은 단가의 ADN 제조되는 순도가 개선된 간단한 공정은 ADN 사용을 지지하기 위해 결정적이다.

  • In this paper, we formed the shallow junction by preamorphization and low energy ion implantation. And a simulator is designed for predicting the annealing process results. Especially, if considered the applicable to single step annealing process(RTA, FA) and dual step annealing process(RTA+FA, FA+RTA). In this simulation, the ion implantation model and the boron diffusion model are used. The Monte Carlo model is used for the ion implantation. Boron diffusion model is based on pair diffusion at nonequilibrium condition. And we considered that the BI-pairs lead the diffusion and the boron activation and clustering reaction. Using the boundary condition and initial condition, the diffusion equation is solved successfully. The simulator is made ofC language and reappear the experimental data successfully.
