As bus is realized by economical, environmental transportation that is available mass transport than car, various policy for improvement of services is achieved. As innovative public transportation systems like BMS (Bus Management System) have established, it is possible to manage bus service efficiently. However, the present bus service management system mainly focuses on enhancing service reliability represented by schedule adherence index. This study discusses the necessity of a special management for bus bunching phenomena at stops, and develops two kinds of bus bunching indices based on the Number of Berth and the Average Bus Arrival Rate. The bus bunching indices were measured by utilizing the bus operational information from BMS at the Seoul TOPIS(Transportation & Information Service). In order to evaluate the sensitivity of the Indices, the indices were applied to two different bus groups: buses on exclusive bus median lane, and regular (shared) lanes. As analysis result, is bunching as is near in downtown and is bunching to peak time morning than the afternoon. Compared with the schedule adherence index, the suggested indices were proved as an efficient complementary indices in the evaluation of the bus operational performance. The results of index comparison between exclusive bus median lane and shared lanes can promote the expansion of exclusive bus median lane. Moreover, it can also be used as a reference in deciding bus station scale including the Number of Berth and the route adjustment plan.
This study was aimed to thoroughly estimate the characteristics of indoor particulate matter (PM) collected on subway platforms by the cooperative approach of semi-bulk and single particle analyses. The size-resolved PM and its number concentration were measured on the platform in a heavily traveled subway station in Fukuoka, Japan. Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) and micro-PIXE techniques were applied to the chemical analyses of semi-bulk and single particle, respectively. There was the close resemblance of timely fluctuation between PM number concentration and train service on the third basement floor (B3F) platform compared to the second basement floor (B2F) and its maximum level was marked in rush hour. Higher number counts in large particles ($>1{\mu}m$) and lower number counts in fine particles ($<1{\mu}m$) were shown on the platform compared to an above ground. PM2.5 accounted for 58.2% and 38.2 % of TSP on B3F and on B2F, respectively. The elements that were ranked at high concentration in size-resolved semi-bulk PM were Fe, Si, Ca, S, and Na. The major elements tending to have more elevated levels on B3F than B2F were Fe (4.4 times), Ca (17.3 times), and Si (46.4 times). Although concentrations were very low, Cr ($11.9ng\;m^{-3}$ on B3F, $2.4ng\;m^{-3}$ on B2F), Mn ($3.4ng\;m^{-3}$ on B3F, $0.9ng\;m^{-3}$ on B2F), and Pb ($0.6ng\;m^{-3}$ on B3F, $1.6ng\;m^{-3}$ on B2F) were detected from PM2.5. Individual PM was nearly all enriched in Fe with Si and Ca. Classifying and source profiling of the individual particles by elemental maps and particle morphology were tried and particles were presumably divided into four groups (i.e., train/rail friction, train-rail sparking, ballast/abrasive, and cement).
This experiment was conducted to establish the optimum nitrogen application level for oriental melon at Seong-ju Fruit Vegetable Experiment Station with a fertigation system. Four different levels of nitrogen fertigation were applied to oriental melon and growth of the plant was analyzed. Plant samples were collected 8 times and were analyzed by the standard methods. The first fertigation was applied at 10 days after transplanting for the oriental melon based on the growth rates of the plants. For oriental melon, 10 day interval fertigation and 8 time split application of fertilizer could be recommended. The amounts of N, P, and K fertilizer recommended by soil testing was 249-408-315 (kg $ha^{-1}$). Treatment levels were 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 times of soil testing nitrogen with P and K level fixed. The total nitrogen (T-N) content in dried leaf showed a tendency to increase until 30 days after transplanting, then decreased. T-N content increased with increasing nitrogen fertigation rates. T-N content in dried fruit decreased slightly during the whole growing season. Fresh weight and nitrogen uptake were increased with increasing nitrogen fertigation rates. Total yield and marketable yield, 44,550 kg $ha^{-1}$ and 42,880 kg $ha^{-1}$, were maximized at 0.5 times of soil test nitrogen. Ratio of marketable fruit, 95%, was the highest at 0.5 times of soil test nitrogen. The optimum level of nitrogen for fertigation system was 0.5 times soil test nitrogen judging from total yield, commodity yield and commodity fruit.
As a series of studies on the behaviour of Pine gallmidge (Theccdiplosis japonensis Uehida ei Inoaye), the season of the larval hibernation in winter as well as the season of the attack of adults on pine needles in the vicinity of Seoul were observed, and following results were obtained. 1. The larvae get out of the galls and fall into the ground for the hibernation commencing from the end of September and finishing by the end of January of the next year. 2. About 76% of the whole larvae fell down during the month of November. 3. The frequency and the duration of raining mainly influenced the larval falling into the ground but temperature, humidity and the quantity of rainfall was not likely influence upon it. 4. As many as 47,000 larvae were counted per 1.5 square meter of the ground under the crown of the damaged trees. 5. When pine needles were isolated by fine linen-net-bag to keep the needles from the oviposition of the adults of the insect, at six different season; -i.e. 30th, May, 6th, 10th, 15th, 25th, and 30th June, the percentages of the damage were 80%, 50%, 36%, 19%, 20% and 1% respectively, while the damage of the control was 91%.

Since opening the domestic food markets after late 1980s, Korean agro-food sector has been changed a lot, including commercialization of livestock and horticulture sectors. The large-scale periodic transactions appeared in food retail market in 1990's demand further commercialization of farm sectors. It require comprehensive on-farm knowledges including production, food processing, marketing, and management for agricultural sector. As the result, The Farming Systems Research & Extension concept has been introduced in 1992 as a form of The Regional Specialization Experiment Station. The Science and Technology Committee for Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Foods are established in 2009. However, we still find gaps between on-farm knowledge demands and supply, requiring further refining of R&D systems. It also asks to differentiate applied research from basic disciplinary research, better linkages between research and extension on farm, and comprehensive knowledge transfer systems. This study recommends for proper role allocation and cooperative structures for regional research and extension institutions to reduce overlaps among them. It further asks government to support regional research and extension systems including human resource and infrastructure building, to strengthen commodity based on-farm research and extension, and to separate budget allocation for regional research and extension. Provincial administration of the county level extension offices should also be considered for better linkage between research and extension at regional level.
We investigated the callus induction and plant regeneration ability of 16 maize genotypes, including the Korean inbred lines, using 9 to 15 day-old immature zygotic embryos from maize grown in pots and from field cultures. Immature zygotic embryos placed on MS medium supplemented with L-proline 0.7 g/L, MES 0.5 g/L, Dicamba 1.5 mg/L, 2,4-D 0.5 mg/L, $AgNO_3$ 4 mg/L, and sucrose 20 g/L, showed the highest frequency of callus induction. The highest number of shoots regenerated when the embryogenic callus were transferred to MS medium supplemented with 5 mg/L zeatin. The root formation was observed when shoots were grown on MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). Additionally, under the same culture conditions, immature zygotic embryos from maize grown in the field also had a high frequency of plant regeneration. Except one genotype, 15 genotypes showed callus induction and shoot regeneration. Among the 16 genotypes tested, H99, B98, HW3, and B73 yielded the best plant regeneration. H99 showed maximum shoot formation from the primary embryogenic callus. The results suggest that genotypes and growth conditions of the maize plant plays very important roles for enhancing the embryogenesis competence of immature zygotic embryos. The successful regeneration from immature zygotic embryos of maize inbred lines provides a basis for molecular breeding of new cultivars by genetic transformation.

Recently, growing social interest in alley markets, which have shown rapid growth like Gyeonglidan-gil street in Seoul, has led to the need for an analysis of growth factors. This paper aims at exploring growing alley markets through time-series clustering using DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) and examining the growth factors through logistic regression. According to cluster analysis, the number of growing markets of the Northeast, the Southwest, and the Southeast were much more than the Northwest but the proportion in region of the Northwest, the Northeast, and the Southwest were much more than the Southeast. Logistic regression results show that people in 20s and 30s have a lower impact on sales than those in 50s, but have a greater impact on growth of alley market. Alley markets located in high-income areas often reached their growth limits, indicating a tendency to stagnate or decline. The proximity of a subway station effected positive on sales but negative on growth. This research is an advanced study in that the causes of sales growth of alley markets is examined, which has not been examined in the preceding study.
A survey to investigate the inhabitation of Callipogon relictus Semenov and evaluate the population of the species in the Gwangneung Forest was conducted during last seven years. During the study, a female was observed in the forest in 2006 which confirmed a possibility of the inhabitation with a small population. Fortunately, a ovipositing female was observed in the forest during this study period in 2006. The female laid more than 20 eggs singly in the crack of bark of the Carpinus laxiflora Blume. We collated the all available data for the species with the present study including the previous reports to provide the information far the conservation plan. It will be needed the long term monitoring and various efforts for the conservation of the species will be need hereafter.
To understand the effects of drying conditions on changes of volatile compounds in fruits of Schizandra chinensis, we analyzed SDE (steam distillation and extraction) extract and Headspace vapor of fresh and dried samples using GC/MS (Gas chromatograph/Mass spectrometer). Contents of essential oils from samples with different drying conditions were 0.58% in fresh ones, 0.60% in freeze dried ones, and 0.30% in hot-air dried ones. In SDE extract, major volatile compounds in fresh samples were terpinen-4-ol(9.01%), ${\gamma}-terpinene(7.02%),\;{\beta}-myrcene(7.55%)$, unidentified sesquiterpenes(28.48%), showing almost the same composition as that in freeze-dried ones, but those in hot-air dried samples at $60^{\circ}C$ were ${\gamma}-terpinene(5.40%),\;{\alpha}-elemene(8.28%)$, unidentified sesquiterpenes(50.38%), indicating the chemical changes during drying procedure. In Headspace vapor, major compounds in fresh samples were ${\beta}-myrcene(22.05%),\;{\gamma}-terpinene(9.47%),\;{\alpha}-pinene(8.91%)$, sabinene(8.48%), which were different from those in SDE extract. In chemical compositions of volatile compounds in dried samples, ${\beta}-myrcene,\;{\alpha}-terpinene$ decreased in the order of freeze-drying > hot-air drying at $60^{\circ}C$ > hot-air drying at $60^{\circ}C$, and ${\alpha}-ylangene,\;{\alpha}-pinene$, camphene increased in the reverse order of the former. We observed the changes of the contents and compositions of essential oils compounds during drying procedure, especially a decrease in monoterpenes and alcohols and an increase in sesquiterpenes with relatively weak volatility.

Human beings have pursued development and economic betterment; thus, enhancing convenience and prosperity. A flourish of human civilization upon the industrialization results a massive urbanization. However, human beings have connived the environmental importance in the course of rapid urbanization. The environmental quality now becomes one of the most important factors that determine the quality of life in a city. Many studies were proceeded about the heat island effect in large cities. In general, most studies have been done to investigate urban microclimate phenomena using meteorological network or AWS (automatic weather station) data. Those preceding studies do not seem to sufficiently reflect the and thus, failed to show regional representative. In this study, temporal Landsat TM satellite imageries of May 20, 1987 and May 21, 1999 were 뻐d in order to detect the surface temperature of the study area using the band 6 ($10.4{\mu}m{\sim}12.5{\mu}m$). The surface temperature distribution detected by the band 6 of Landsat TM was over layed with the land cover classification data in order to investigate the temperature difference of the paved road and the riparian areas of the stream. As a result, a surface temperature difference as much as $3^{\circ}C$ between the paved road and the riparian areas with vegetation was observed. This study concludes that the land cover change is one of the main causes of urban heat island effect which may be closely affected by the paved areas and roads. Besides, the change of the atmospheric temperature followed by the urban secular change could have been confirmed. In the case of Yangjaecheon stream which underwent a heavy environmental restoration in 1995, the temperature was decreased as much as $0.6^{\circ}C$ after the restoration. The results of this study is expected to contribute to develop an urban space in harmony with the healthy human life and the environment respecting the crucial role of vegetation to stabilize the urban environmental dynamics.
