Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effects of emotional intelligence on the relationship between traumatic events and turnover intention among nurses working in intensive care units (ICUs). Method : In this predictive correlation study, the convenience sample included 133 ICU nurses. Data were collected using an online, structured self-report survey. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, an analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and a hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 25.0. Results : The most frequently experienced traumatic events in ICUs were "nursing patients with abnormal behavior, including shouting and delirium," "end-of-life care," and "nursing patients with a risk of disease transmission, including AIDS and tuberculosis." The moderating effect of emotional intelligence was found to be statistically significant on the relationship between traumatic events and turnover intentions (𝛽=-0.15, p =.029). Conclusion : Intervention to improve the emotional intelligence of ICU nurses can be a salient strategy to reduce turnover intention resulting from traumatic events.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of threat perception and psychological reactance to graphic health warnings on cigarette packages on intention to quit smoking among smoking adolescents. Methods: The participants were 185 smoking adolescents attending two industrial specialized high schools, who had witnessed graphic health warnings on cigarette packages within the previous 30 days. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN Ver. 25.0. Results: The results showed that participant threat perception (𝛽=.14, p=.037) after witnessing a cigarette warning message had a positive influence on intention to quit smoking. On the other hand, psychological reactance (𝛽=-.23, p=.001) showed a negative influence on intention to quit smoking. Conclusion: When designing and developing a message for smoking adolescents, customized messages are required to reflect teenagers' characteristics and raise threat perception and lower psychological reactance. In addition, we propose a future study be conducted to determine the influences of various psychological determinants, including self-efficacy and skills, on threat perception and psychological reactance to graphic health warnings on cigarette packages among smoking adolescents.
Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the correlation among dental hygiene students' life stress, grit, and career decisionmaking self-efficacy, and to identify the factors influencing career decision-making self-efficacy. Methods: Data were collected through a survey from October 19 to November 7, 2020, targeting 196 students enrolled in dental hygiene departments in Daejeon and Daegu. The objectives of the research are to study the effects of emotional intelligence (EI), reward management (RM), and occupational health and safety (OHS), on employee performance (EP) within a Thai motor service and repair firm. Starting in January 2022 through the end of March 2022, the researchers used simple random sampling techniques to select 88 employees for the case study. The research instrument was a questionnaire with an IOC value between 0.67-1.00 and a reliability value α of 0.78. Survey participants were asked to contribute their opinions to a five-level opinion survey which was hosted on Google Forms. Descriptive statistics analysis (mean and standard deviation) and multiple linear regression analysis were done using SPSS for Windows version 21. The results showed that employee opinions concerning EI, RM, OHS, and EP were at a high level, with the three hypotheses testing showing statistical significance (p ≤ 0.01). The decision coefficients (R2) all revealed relationship strength with RM = 0.861, OHS = 0.853, and EI = 0.731.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between clinical practice satisfaction, professional self-concept, and career identity among students of dental laboratory technology. Methods: From September 1 to September 15, 2021, data were collected through self-questionnaires completed by 180 students with clinical practice experience. Results: The average scores for clinical practice satisfaction, professional self-concept, and career identity were 3.17, 3.03, and 2.46, respectively. There were significant correlations between students' clinical practice satisfaction, professional self-concept, and career identity. There were positive correlations between clinical practice satisfaction and professional self-concept and between professional self-concept and career identity. Conclusion: Clinical practice satisfaction was found to play an important role in the formation of a positive professional self-concept as a dental technician. Therefore, a clinical practice program should be developed and implemented that can increase the satisfaction of clinical practice.
Purpose: The study aims to identify factors that influence university students' compliance with infection prevention behaviors in the early stage of COVID-19. Methods: A survey was conducted online from July 29 to August 2, 2020, involving 261 students enrolled in general universities. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis were carried out on the collected data using SPSS 24.0. Results: The average score of university students' risk perception of COVID-19 was 3.80, while the average score of health risk communication was 3.92. The average score of efficacy beliefs was 4.42 and the average score of practicing infection prevention behaviors was 4.54. Factors influencing the level of infection prevention behaviors were efficacy of preventive behaviors (β=.48 p<.001), health risk communication (β=.16, p=.003), subjective health status (β=.12, p=.015), and the type of college (β=.11, p=.041). Conclusion: In order to improve college students' infection prevention behaviors related to COVID-19, consideration should be given to providing interventions that focus on accurate knowledge and dissemination of accurate information about new infectious diseases and effectiveness of infection preventive behaviors.
Purpose: This study was conducted to verify the effects of self-esteem and critical thinking disposition on dental laboratory technology students' field practice stress. Methods: The subjects of the study were 198 dental laboratory technology students with clinical practice experience located in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongsangnam-do. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and linear regression analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 22.0 (IBM). Results: The average self-esteem, critical thinking disposition, and field practice stress scores were 3.76, 3.50, and 2.40, respectively. There was a significant correlation between self-esteem, critical thinking disposition, and field practice stress. It was found that the higher the self-esteem, the lower was the field practice stress. On the contrary, among the sub-items of critical thinking disposition, when intellectual fairness increased, the field practice stress decreased; however, when healthy skepticism increased, the field practice stress increased. Conclusion: Self-esteem and critical thinking disposition were both found to have a substantial effect on field practice stress. Therefore, various educational programs need to increase self-esteem and cultivate critical thinking skills for a successful field practice and field practice stress relief of laboratory technology students.
