This study suggests some ideas for improvement of mixing classification and illogical subdivisions arrangement of Statistics in Social Science and Mathematical Statistics in Natural Science on KDC. We investigate the characteristics, educational system, and curriculum of Statistics in Korea. Besides, we compare and analyze classification systems such as KDC, DDC, LCC, NDC and Research Fields Code by National Research Foundation of Korea. As a result, Statistics in Social Science is relocated and integrated with the subfield of Natural Science according to the academic background. Existing social statistics topics are subdivided into statistical research methods complementing social science research methods. The heading 'Probabilities, Statistical mathematics' in Natural Science is changed to 'Statistics', and the subdivisions are expanded and revised.
Recently, various attempts have been made to change traditional lecture classes such as flipped learning and blended learning, and their effectiveness has been verified in various fields. On the other hand, the 2015 revised curriculum enables students to participate in self-directed learning by encouraging student participation. Teachers should also try to change the teaching method, and to improve the teaching methods by confirming the advantages and disadvantages of such new teaching methods in accordance with the demands of the times. The purpose of this study is to analyze the case of applying Blended learning class to teach mathematics education for elementary education 1 class which is one of the required subject in university of education.
Recently, mathematical reasoning has been considered as one of the most important mathematical thinking abilities to be established in school mathematics. This study is to investigate the mathematical problems on the content of 'Set and Statement' and 'Sequences' in high school according to the four types of reasoning, namely Making Conjectures, Investigating Conjectures, Developing Arguments, and Evaluating Arguments. Those types of reasoning were reconstructed based on Johnson's six types of reasoning suggested in 2010. The content is dealt with in 'Mathematics II' textbook developed and published according to the mathematics curriculum revised in 2009. The subject of this study is nine types of textbooks and mathematical problems in the textbook are consisted of as two parts of 'general problem' and 'evaluation problem'. Finally, the results of this study can be summarized as follow: First, it is stated that students be establishing a logical justification activity, the highest reasoning activity through dealing with the 'Developing Arguments' type of problems affluently in both 'Set and Statement' and 'Sequence' chapters of Mathematics II textbook. Second, it is mentioned that students have an chance to investigate conjectures and develop logical arguments in 'Set and Statement' chapter of Mathematics II textbook. In particular, whereas they have an chance to investigate conjectures and also develop arguments in 'Statement', the 'Set' chapter is given only an opportunity of developing arguments. Third, students are offered on an opportunity of reasoning that can make conjectures and develop logical arguments in 'Sequences' chapter of Mathematics II textbook. Fourth, Mathematics II textbook are geared to do activities that could evaluate arguments while dealing with the problems relevant to 'mathematical process' included in 'general problem'.
Education, Science and Technology Department in January 2012, announced the advancement of mathematics education scheme. Select a textbook of storytelling method in policy by this, it is easy to understand the math, and that you can learn happily, was fabricated and spread. In this study, we selected three of the textbook that describes the set to its characteristics the application of storytelling in a textbook of mathematics 13 different middle school that will be used from March 2013. And of research that the textbook is to analyze the reflected reality of storytelling that is part of the advancement scheme of mathematics education content and direction and basic curriculum of current. View by presenting instead I is an object of the present invention. Six components of storytelling in the teaching and learning context that is proposed in the Park's study (2012) are used to analyze. Those are 'Persona', 'empathy', 'analogy', 'aesthetic experience ', 'plot' and 'time'. The data were analyzed storytelling was used to introduce the nature and mathematical concepts in math textbook based on these elements 6. That is looking at the ratio of the presence or absence of reflecting elements of storytelling on teaching and learning context that the data storytelling meets much the elements of storytelling to investigate the characteristics of each textbook. It is expected to provide the information and resources needed to develop methods and materials that can be studied to be interested in conjunction with real life mathematics as a result of this study.
This study is to setup a mathematics PBL model that is right for elementary students. PBL models are developed and applied to actual courses and analyzed. So, a specific plan and practical understanding of PBL mathematics textbooks will be presented. But in order for this to happen, first the mathematics PBL model, that can realize 7th revised curriculum's goal, needs to setup and divided into knowledge, skill and attitude domains. Through this study, the general PBL model and the PBL model appropriate for elementary mathematics was amended and supplemented, this was then applied to courses and analyzed, and the below conclusions were realized. First, mathematical idealization stage is needed for mathematical PBL model. Since an elementary student is shortcoming in problem understanding and mathematical activity, a middle step that allows the student to understand the problem situation mathematizing and find a solution mathematically is desperately needed. Therefore, in this study, we named it the mathematical idealization stage and had it setup. Second, a mathematics information collection stage needs to be prepared for a successful PBL. Through this stage, the students will have an opportunity to gather the necessary information needed and restructure it to solve the problem. Third, the organization stage in mathematical PBL model needs to be strengthened. PBL is not just completed, through the best use of mathematics subject matter to solve the problem. Organization time is needed to allow the students to grow to a more deepened and advanced level. In conclusion, there is significance in providing a specific plan for mathematical PBL model, which can be seen through this study on applying and analyzing elementary mathematics and appropriate PBL models.
The aim of this study was to develop a gifted educational program in math-gifted class in elementary school using recently developed 4D-frame. This study identified how this program impacted on spatial sense and mathematical creativity for mathematically gifted students. The investigation attempted to contribute to the developments for the gifted educational program. To achieve the aim, the study analysed the 5 and 6th graders' figure learning contents from a revised version of the 2007 national curriculum. According to this analysis, twelve learning sections were developed on the basis of 4D-frame in the math-gifted educational program. The results of the study is as follows. First, a learning program using 4D-frame for spatial sense from mathematically gifted elementary school students was statistically significant. A sub-factor of spatial visualization called mental rotation and sub-factors of spatial orientations such as sense of distance and sense of spatial perception were statistically significant. Second, the learning program that uses 4D-frame for mathematical creativity was statistically significant. The sub-factors of mathematical creativity such as fluency, flexibility and originality were all statistically significant. Third, the manipulation properties of 4D-frame helped to understand the characteristics of various solid figures. Through the math discussions in the class, participants' error correction was promoted. The advantage of 4D-frame including easier manipulation helped participants' originality for their own sculpture. In summary, this found that the learning program using 4D-frame attributed to improve the spatial sense and mathematical creativity for mathematically gifted students in elementary school. These results indicated that the writers' learning program will help to develop the programs for the gifted education program in the future.
It has been pointed out that the mathematics textbooks according to 2009 revised national curriculum cause difficulty not by mathematical knowledge but concomitantly by words and sentences for the first graders who just started learning Korean alphabets. This study focused on the suitability of words and sentences in mathematics textbooks for elementary first grade. We analyzed the degree of difficulty and familiarity in terms of words and the structure, length, and expression in terms of sentences. The results show some causes that lead the first graders to the difficulty. In more detail, we found 108 difficult words and 6 unfamiliar words for the first graders. And it is noticed that the textbooks contain 37 compound sentences, 727 complex sentences, and 38 compound-complex sentences. They also contain 237 long sentences that are composed of 9 words or more, 168 sentences that assign two activities or more, and 52 sentences that contain three nouns or adjectives or more successively. Based on these results and discussions, we suggested several implications for writing mathematics textbooks for the lower grades in elementary school.
Two-dimensional shapes have a great influence on elementary school students' learning and are closely related to other content areas. Therefore, in this study, The Teaching and Learning Elements that should be taught in two-dimensional shapes were extracted from the literature. It also was analyzed that revised mathematics textbooks in the year 2015 were properly implemented with the teaching and learning elements. As a result of the analysis, in the case of Understanding The Concept, the activities in the textbooks are not able to recognize 2-D shapes which are focusing on shapes of the actual object. In the case of Classifying two-dimensional shapes according to the Criteria, the classification criteria were presented differently from what was learned in the previous course. In the aspect of Applying the Concept, the activities in order to Discuss two-dimensional shapes were not sufficient. Lastly, in view of the fact the 2015 revised curriculum is not considered with the relationship between two-dimensional shapes. For that reason, the following Knowing Relationships parts are insufficiently presented; Understanding the Relationship Between shapes through Definitions and Properties, Identifying the relationship between shapes throughout classification activities, and Discussing the relationship between shapes. Based on the analysis result of two-dimensional shapes, it is suggested that the finding of this research helps to enlarge the teaching methodology of triangles and provide educational perspectives for development in other shape areas.

The researchers set up a research question to find out how to teach the concept of a right triangle through classification activities after listening to the conversations of fellow teachers about the recently revised textbooks. First, a questionnaire was created to confirm the objectivity of the research problem, data were collected through online and offline, and interviews were conducted with some of the respondents. As a result, it confirmed that there was a considerable difference in the perception of the research study about the direction of revising the curriculum called 'student participation centered' and 'the possibility of achieving the learning objective'. Then, we analyzed the critical interpretations used in the third grade math textbook Lesson 2. 'Plane Figure' part 4 and 5. Finally, by analyzing the results of the recognition analysis and textbook analysis, we proposed two learning methods which can link the triangle classification activity and the right triangle concept. Based on the results of the research, we obtained suggestions that a teaching should be made regarding that the classification process may be changed according to the student's prior knowledge and the process of classification activities may be different according to the viewpoint and classification criteria.

The purpose of this study is to find ways to establish and operate Process-focused Assessment in the classroom as the 2015 revised curriculum has emerged. As a way of doing so, we proposed a Process-focused Assessment through self-assessment and looked at the impact of the applied classes on the mathematical academic performance and affective domain of fifth-grade elementary school students. After selecting two classes of fifth grade with proven homogeneity for research, the experimental group applied Process-focused Assessment through self-assessment and the teacher-led Process-focused Assessment to the comparative group. As a result, it was confirmed that the classes applying Process-focused Assessment through self-assessment significantly improved the math and academic performance of fifth-grade elementary school students. The affective domain of the experimental group did not change significantly, but the analysis of the students' comments and interview data showed that they had more interest and confidence in mathematics.
