Some radiology majors at three-year colleges in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-Do Province were selected for the research. The survey was conducted by explaining its objectives and distributing the self-administered questionnaires from March 7 to 30, 2011; then, the final analysis was carried out on 122 copies, drawing the following conclusions : 1) 31.1% of the radiology majors were motivated to enter their department by good employment after graduation, and 37.7% were getting information from their parents or relatives in selecting their major. 2) The majority of the respondents wanted to get a job in a big city after graduation on the basis of good pay. 3) Department selection was significantly affected by transportation, department and school image, and school facilities, and the effects were higher among females. 4) Department satisfaction was significantly affected by professor satisfaction, prospects for the department, and support for employment activities, and the effects were higher among females. 5) School satisfaction was significantly affected by satisfaction with school selection decision, good selection, and school environment, and the effects were higher among females. 6) Females were found to have higher professional consciousness as a radiologist, showing statistically significant differences: "the occupation as a radiologist will continue to be developed" at $3.97{\pm}.837$ for males and at $4.55{\pm}.663$ for females and "the occupation as a radiologist is stable and will be help get a life-long job" at $3.82{\pm}.9.08$ for males and at $4.41{\pm}.787$ for females.
The purpose of this study was to examine the lecture satisfaction of radiological science majors in total remote classes due to coronavirus disease 2019, and influencing factors were analyzed. An online survey was conducted from September 1, 2020 to November 15, 2020, lecture satisfaction, teaching presence, academic motivation, self efficacy, behavior regulation and usage simplicity of remote classes for 458 3 and 4-year radiological science majors located in the Yeongnam area. Lecture satisfaction was significantly different according to grade, self-review time, and preferred teaching method. In addition, lecture satisfaction showed a significant positive corrleation with the teaching presence and usage simplicity of remote classes. In the multiple regression model, lecture satisfaction showed a significant explanatory power of 45.7% through usage simplicity, teaching presence, self efficacy and academic motivation. This study was attempted to provide basic data to increase the effect of remote classes at universities that are expected to expand in the post-corona.
In the pandemic situation due to corona 19, we examined the satisfactory level of students' between non-face-to-face and online classes in the first year of radiology. In the case of online non-face classes related to radiation majors, it is considered better to conduct real-time lectures than recorded lectures, which allows students to understand difficult radiation majors throughout real-time questions and answers, and at the same time allows them to sympathize with difficult subjects such as intimacy and bonds between students. As a result of the analysis of the answers to questionnaires, the coefficient of answer correlation between first and second grade students is P>0.05, and there is no answer correlation between grades, and it can be seen that the higher the grade, the higher the demand for face-to-face classes was.
This study is to investigate the satisfaction rate and relative factors from the students majored in Radiology, Clinical Pathology and Physical Therapy, which can provide basic knowledge of satisfaction and guide the university life and further careers. The survey was performed with respect to 107 students of Radiology, 97 of Clinical Pathology and 89 of Physical Therapy at three-year or four-year colleges(universities) located in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. The results show that the satisfaction rate through whole majors was $3.40{\pm}0.57$ point. The scores of each major are: $3.38{\pm}0.62$ for Radiology, $3.37{\pm}0.56$ for Clinical Pathology, and $3.45{\pm}0.50$ for Physical Therapy. The score of social status was highest and the environment of major was the lowest. The satisfaction of three-year colleges was higher than that of four-year universities. Academic system, social status and adaptation to major affected satisfaction on major. In addition job outlook affected on all majors. Thus, we propose that every major must be equipped with specialized environment different from general colleges (universities), and provide environment where students can cause self-motivation. In addition, we found the special way to improve social status and satisfaction by using career guidance, offering career information and performing university-industry collaborations. Especially, it is important to improve the satisfaction on major of students at four-year universities.
Recently, new teaching methods for communicating with teachers and students have been emerged according to the trends of decreasing the school-age population and the development of the mass media. We have applied teaching-learning model based on the flip learning to the college students in this work. As a result of the test for the customized flipped learning teaching-learning model in pre-class, the attendance rate of the major subject was 92.3% whereas that in liberal arts courses other than majors revealed 87.6%. This result for attendance rate shows that first year students in the radiology department have been actively participated in pre-class of the major subject than that of the liberal arts curriculum. From comparing the differences between the study group that was applied flipped learning in class and the non-applied group, the research group showed higher scores in knowledge, skills, and attitudes than the comparative group. In addition, more than 90% of the learners improved their responsibility, problem solving ability, creative thinking, cooperative ability, and communication ability through this learning program. From the test for the difference in the role of radiologists in the post class, the mean score was 4.40 for the group applied the teaching-learning model while that for non-applied group was 2.10. Hence, from such results, we see that this teaching-learning model is appropriate and needs to be extended to cultivate basic skills in radiology and relevant vocational education.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between radiation information sources and major selection satisfaction in radiologic science students of Korean and American. The subjects of this study were first-grade and second-grade at one university in Chungbuk, Korea and one university in Texas, USA. The survey study investigated from May 7, 2019 to May 28, 2019. As a result, first, these college students in both countries used the internet the most as them, but the percentage of information collected through textbooks was significantly higher among American college students. Second, Korean college students had a higher level of reliability in information sources than American college students in the order of internet, newspapers, and social network service (SNS), except government prints. Third, American college students had significantly higher satisfaction in major selection than Korean college students. Fourth, Korean college students were helped to select majors through various information sources, especially, the correlation coefficient between SNS was significantly higher.
Purpose : The aim of this study is to analyse the research productivity of SCI publications at medical schools in Korea. Methods: We collected the 5,386 SCI publications from 10 medical schools that were published in 2002 and 2003. Most of the materials treated herein are derived from the database of the Institute of Scientific Information from April 13, to May 25, 2005. Values are analyzed by medical school, major and IF index and presented as frequency and percentages. Results : There were 2,350 publications in 2002 and 3,036 publications in 2003. The average publication rate per faculty was .71 in 2002 and it was increased to .90 in 2003. Of the total 5,386 manuscripts, 1.248(23.2%) papers were from work conducted at basic science department and 3,224(76.8%) were from work performed at clinical science department. The major such as pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, internal medicine, diagnostic radiology and dermatology published a lot of SCI papers. A large percentage of papers (41.74%) were in journals with reported l<=IF<3. Conclusions : There was wide variability in the research productivity among the medical schools or majors. This variability reflects the importance of the institutional characteristics of each medical school in predicting the research productivity. Some of these institutional characteristics include the size of the faculty. available research funding, research vision of medical school, visible system of measurement and any associated reward system.
The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of health-related majors in their third year of college about the image of a dental hygienist as prospective dental personnels. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Concerning perception of the image of a dental hygienist by geographic region, the college students from large cities gave 89.07 to that, and the college students from small and mid-sized urban areas gave 85.03. The former gave higher marks to the image of a dental hygienist, and the gap between the two was statistically significant. By department, the students who majored in physical therapy gave the highest score of 88.93, dental technology and radiology gave the second highest score of 86.91. The clinical pathology gave the third highest score of 83.28, and the gaps among them were significant. 2. As for their perception of the four subfactors(qualifications, roles, social participation and interpersonal relationship) of the image of a dental hygienist by geographic region, there were statistically significant gaps in their way of looking at the qualifications, roles and interpersonal relationship of a dental hygienist. By department, the physical therapy majors gave the highest marks to all the four subfactors. 3. When they were asked to give one or more answers to the question what affected their image building about a dental hygienist, the largest number of the students that accounted for 67.9 percent replied that the looks of dental hygienists whom they saw in dental clinics or hospitals impacted on their image of a dental hygienist.
