  • Let T be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space $\mathfrak{H}$. An operator T is called class A operator if ${\mid}T^2{\mid}{\geq}{\mid}T{\mid}^2$ and is called class $A({\kappa})$ operator if $(T^*{\mid}T{\mid}^{2{\kappa}}T)^{\frac{1}{{\kappa}+1}}{\geq}{\mid}T{\mid}^2$ for a positive number ${\kappa}$. In this paper, we show that ${\sigma}$ is continuous when restricted to the set of class $A({\kappa})$ operators.

  • For a positive integer k, an operator T is said to be k-quasi-*-paranormal if ${\parallel}T^{k+2}x{\parallel}{\parallel}T^kx{\parallel}{\geq}{\parallel}T^*T^kx{\parallel}^2$ for all x $\in$ H, which is a generalization of *-paranormal operator. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for T to be a k-quasi-*-paranormal operator. We also prove that the spectrum is continuous on the class of all k-quasi-*-paranormal operators.

  • This paper is a study of some properties of a collection of bounded linear operators resulting from terraced matrices M acting through multiplication on ${\ell}^2$; the term terraced matrix refers to a lower triangular infinite matrix with constant row segments. Sufficient conditions are found for M to be posinormal, meaning that $MM^*=M^*PM$ for some positive operator P on ${\ell}^2$; these conditions lead to new sufficient conditions for the hyponormality of M. Sufficient conditions are also found for the adjoint $M^*$ to be posinormal, and it is observed that, unless M is essentially trivial, $M^*$ cannot be hyponormal. A few examples are considered that exhibit special behavior.

  • In this paper, we introduce the reverse of the operator Davis-Choi-Jensen's inequality. Our results are employed to establish a new bound for the Furuta inequality. More precisely, we prove that, if $A,\;B{\in}{\mathcal{B}}({\mathcal{H}})$ are self-adjoint operators with the spectra contained in the interval [m, M] with m < M and A ≤ B, then for any $r{\geq}{\frac{1}{t}}>1,\,t{\in}(0,\,1)$ $A^r{\leq}({\frac{M1_{\mathcal{H}}-A}{M-m}}m^{rt}+{\frac{A-m1_{\mathcal{H}}}{M-m}}M^{rt}){^{\frac{1}{t}}}{\leq}K(m,\;M,\;r)B^r,$ where K (m, M, r) is the generalized Kantorovich constant.

  • Let M be a von Neumann algebra and .alpha., .betha. be *-automorphisms of M satisfying the operator equation .alpha.+.alpha.$^{-1}$ =.betha.+.betha.$^{-1}$ This operator equation has been extensively studied and many important decomposition theorems have been obtained by several authors (for instance see [4], [5], [2], [1]). Originally, this operator equation arose in the paper of Van Daele on the new approach of the Tomita-Takesaki theory in the case of modular operators ([7]). In the case of one-parameter automorphism groups, this equation has produced a bounded and completely positive map which can play a role similar to the infinitesimal generator (for details see [6] and [1]). A recent and one of the most important applications of this equation has been in developing an anglogue of the Tomita-Takesaki theory for Jordan algebras by Haagerup [3]. One general result of this theory is the following.

  • We give alternative proof of the existence theorem for certain elliptic systems describing competing interactions with nonlinear di usion. The existence of positive solution depends on the sign of the principal eigenvalue of suitable operators of Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger type. If the sign of such operators are both positive, then system has a positive solution. The main tool employed is the fixed point index of compact operator on positive cones.

  • In this paper, we give sufficient conditions of certain elliptic systems involving competing iteractions with nonlinear diffusion rates. The existence of positive solution depends on the sign of the first eigenvalue of operators of Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger type. More precisely, if the sign of such operators are either both positive or both negative, then system has a positive solution. The main tool employed is the fixed point index of compact operator on positive cones.

  • Let A(p) be the class of functions $f\;:\;z^p\;+\;\sum\limits_{j=1}^{\infty}a_jz^{p+j}$ analytic in the open unit disc E. Let, for any integer n > -p, $f_{n+p-1}(z)\;=\;z^p+\sum\limits_{j=1}^{\infty}(p+j)^{n+p-1}z^{p+j}$. We define $f_{n+p-1}^{(-1)}(z)$ by using convolution * as $f_{n+p-1}\;*\;f_{n+p-1}^{-1}=\frac{z^p}{(1-z)^{n+p}$. A function p, analytic in E with p(0) = 1, is in the class $P_k(\rho)$ if ${\int}_0^{2\pi}\|\frac{Re\;p(z)-\rho}{p-\rho}\|\;d\theta\;\leq\;k{\pi}$, where $z=re^{i\theta}$, $k\;\geq\;2$ and $0\;{\leq}\;\rho\;{\leq}\;p$. We use the class $P_k(\rho)$ to introduce a new class of multivalent analytic functions and define an integral operator $L_{n+p-1}(f)\;\;=\;f_{n+p-1}^{-1}\;*\;f$ for f(z) belonging to this class. We derive some interesting properties of this generalized integral operator which include inclusion results and radius problems.
