  • The purpose of this study is to derive factors that affect the acceptance of digital transformation in ports and empirically analyze the impact of these factors on the acceptance of digital transformation through a survey of port workers. Additionally, we test whether acceptance attitude plays a mediating role in the relationship between these factors and digital transformation acceptance. The variables used in this study are as follows. First, knowledge, self-efficacy, and involvement were included as variables related to individual characteristics, relative advantages, complexity, observability were included as variables related to innovation characteristics, and government regulations and competitor pressure were included as variables relate to environmental characteristics, so that a total of eight latent variables were selected. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, two variables among individual characteristics, self-efficacy and involvement, were able to confirm a positive(+) causal relationship with the attitude of accepting digital transformation, and knowledge initially expected a positive(+) causal relationship with the attitude of accepting digital transformation, but the result was a negative(-) causal relationship, so that the hypothesis was rejected. Second, among the characteristics of innovation, complexity has a negative(-) causal relationship with the attitude of accepting digital transformation, and relative advantages and technological innovation have a positive(+) causal relationship with the attitude of accepting digital transformation. Finally, among the environmental characteristics, government regulations and competitor pressure, confirmed a positive(+) causal relationship with the attitude of accepting digital transformation. In addition, it was found that the attitude of accepting digital transformation had a positive(+) causal relationship with personal acceptance and social acceptance of digital transformation.

  • The purpose of this study is described in detail as follows. First, I would like to define what digital transformation is in the maritime transport sector. Second, it is intended to derive success factors for digital transformation in the maritime transportation field by examining various preceding studies related to digital transformation. Finally, in order to derive priorities for the derived success factors, an AHP analysis model is built and an expert survey is conducted for practical experts in the maritime transportation field. Based on the survey results, we would like to provide guidelines on what factors should be considered first among the success factors of digital transformation in the maritime transportation sector. In this study, in order to derive the priority of success factors for digital transformation in the maritime transportation field, the hierarchical structure was divided into four high-level evaluation items(strategic factors, organizational culture and human factors, technology factors, and environmental factors) and 21 sub-evaluation items. A relative evaluation method of weighting items among AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) was applied. AHP analysis of 24 questionnaires with a consistency ratio of 0.1 or less in order to increase the accuracy of information among questionnaires collected through maritime transportation related university professors, research groups, shipping companies, container terminals, and experts engaged in shipping related IT companies was carried out. As a result of the analysis, the priority of the first-tier factors for the success factors of digital transformation in the maritime transport sector was shown in the order of strategic factors, organizational culture and human factors, technology factors, and environmental factors. In addition, when looking at the priorities of 21 detailed items, it was found that the development of new business models, the creation of an active future digital strategy, and the leadership of the chief digital officer were high.

  • Digital Twin Technology is currently being utilized in many industries and logistics seems soon to follow that trend. Currently, technology introduction to container terminals is restrictedly developing. In reviewing the existing literature, it became clear that research on the application of Digital Twin technology for container terminals is deficient. This study fulfilled AHP and IPA analysis causing fields to adjust priority at the container terminal. The result of analysis on the urgent necessity of adjustable fields' detailed elements from Digital Twin Technology, ATC, intelligent CCTV, and container yards, and showed that they were of the highest priority level. Also, VR/AR Equipment, AYT, Smart Container, Automated Container Delivery Facility, Refrigerated/Freezer Container, Wearable Device for Port Maintenance, and Smart Buoy were reviewed in detail. Our group suggests AQC, Berth, AGV, ASC, Apron, and Automated Mooring as potentially useful Digital Twin Technologies. Finally, our research suggests the OSS equipment, intermodal linkage facility, intelligent drone, and hazardous material storage are areas of low priority.

  • Radar image data were collected through the on-line data acquisition system of A/D converter and personal computer, and the image was restorated on CRT or plotter after digital image processing of the data. The digital image processing system which was developed for this study, consisted of some kinds of software as follows : rearrangement, transformation, and enhancement of the image data in real space or frequency space by Fourier transform, edge detection of the image, compact processing, state inferential processing, and so on. Since the image of PPI radar sweeps from the center to the circumference of a circle, the image within a given period has the shape of fan. Therefore the acquired data were transformed to have the same interval as that of data in outmost concentricity. The results of various image processing methods using transformed data were better than those of the methods using original data.

  • Aids to Navigation (AtoN) is an important tool for safe navigation, and the variety of information provided by AtoN is invaluable. The demand for standardized AtoN information for efficient utilization is gradually increasing, and for this purpose, the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) has developed S-201, a standard for the management of AtoN information, and recommends its application to member countries. Notably, since Korea defines AtoNs and manages the information according to the Aids to Navigation Act, the need for definition and information management according to the S-201 standard, an international standard, is even greater. Therefore, in this study, according to the recommendation of IALA, we aimed to suggest a way to manage AtoN information by applying the S-201 standard. To this end, after comparing the classification criteria of the AtoN information of the IALA, and that of Korea's classification standards, Korea's AtoN information management plan applying the S-201 standard was presented. The results of this study provide important basic data for managing standardized digital AtoN information that is easy to use worldwide.

  • The digital transformation of the shipbuilding, shipping, and logistics sectors is predicted to lead to the introduction of autonomous ships and changes in the way ships are operated. The co-existence of various operation forms, such as autonomous operation and remote operation, with the existing operation methods is expected to lead to the transformation of the ship operation process and the emergence of new stakeholders. This paper studies the future ship operation process according to the change in ship operation method, predicts the change in the operating environment of future ships, and derives functional requirements by major tasks and stakeholders. The Delphi technique is applied to construct a ship operation scenario from the planning stage of voyage and cargo transport to the stage of arrival at the final destination port and discharge of cargo, and to predict future work changes by task and actor. Seafarers' activities are expected to be minimised by remote and autonomous operation, and experts in each field are expected to have responsibilities and tasks in different aspects of ship operation.
