Among the various artificial neural networks the backpropagation network (BPN) has become a standard one. One of the components in a neural network is an activating function or a transfer function of which a representative function is a sigmoid. We have discovered that by updating the slope parameter of a sigmoid function simultaneous with the weights could improve performance of a BPN.

In the present paper, we study conformal and projective Killing vector fields and infinitesimal Q-transformations on a quaternionic Kahlerian manifold, and prove that an infinitesimal conformal or projective automorphism in a compact quaternionic Kahlerian manifold is necessarily infinitesimal automorphism.

Lactobacillus acidophilus CP4A 균주가 생산하는 acidocin 4A를 정제하고자 ammonium sulphate 침전법 , Octyl-sepharose CL-4B column chromatography, $C_{18}$ Sep-Pak cartridge, $C_{18}$ RP HPLC, HPLC gel filtration을 실시하였고 tricine SDS-PAGE를 통해 약 4.1 kDa의 박테리오신임을 확인하였다. Acidocin 4A의 항균작용 기작을 L. delbrueckii subsp. lactis ATCC 4797을 대상으로 TEM을 이용해 관찰한 결과 세포벽이 해리되고 세포벽사이로 세포내용물이 용출되어 궁극적으로 cell lysis가 일어나는 bacteriolytic 현상을 확인하였다. 또한, acidocin 4A의 생산에 관련된 유전자의 존재 위치를 파악하고자 EtBr을 이용한 curing방법을 실시하였으며 그 결과 약 20 kb 크기의 plasmid에 acidocin 4A 생산과 자체 면역에 관련된 유전자가 존재함을 알 수 있었다.

액상 액체 크로마토그래피(HPLC)에 의해 구절초 중 chlorogenic acid (CA), 3,4-o-dicaffeoyl quinic acid (3,4-DCQA), 4,5-o-dicaffeoyl quinic acid (4,5-DCQA)와 linarin의 동시 정량분석법이 새로히 확립되었다. 시료를 20ml 메탄올로 4시간 추출하고 그 추출물을 Sep-Pak $C_18$ cartridge와 용출액으로 4 ml 메탄올-물(1:1)을 사용해서 분리, 정제하였다. HPLC 정량법으로 Bondapak $C_18$ 컬럼(30 cm ${\times}$ 3.9 mm i.d., 10 ${\mu}m$)과 이동상으로 메탄올 -5mM 인산수용액(30:70)의 기울기 용출방식이 사용되었다. 위 정량분석법을 이용해서 시중 구절초 중 그 함량범위는 CA에서 0.35~0.55%, 3,4-DCQA에서 0.46~0.76%, 4,5-DCQA에서 0.077~0.231% 및 linarin에서 0.16~2.72%이었다.

The purpose of this paper is to study n-dimensional QR-submanifolds of (p - 1) QR-dimension in a quaternionic projective space $QP^{(n+p)/4}$ and especially to determine such submanifolds under the curvature conditions appeared in (5.1) and (5.2).
