  • This article presents the differential system that governs the mechanical behaviour of a curved-beam element, with varying cross-section area, subjected to generalized load. This system is solved by an exact procedure or by the application of a new numerical recurrence scheme relating the internal forces and displacements at the two end-points of an increase in its centroid-line. This solution has a transfer matrix structure. Both the stiffness matrix and the equivalent load vector are obtained arranging the transfer matrix. New structural matrices have been defined, which permit to determine directly the unknown values of internal forces and displacements at the two supported ends of the curved-beam element. Examples are included for verification.

  • In the present study, exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (xGnP) with different particle sizes were coated onto polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fibers by a direct coating method. The flexural properties, interlaminar shear strength, and the morphology of the xGnP-coated carbon fiber/phenolic matrix composites were investigated in terms of their longitudinal flexural strength and modulus, interlaminar shear strength, and by optical and scanning electron microscopic observations. The results were compared with a phenolic matrix composite counterpart prepared without xGnP. The flexural properties and interlaminar shear strength of the xGnP-coated carbon fiber/phenolic matrix composites were found to be higher than those of the uncoated composite. The flexural and interlaminar shear strengths were affected by the particle size of the xGnP, while the particle size had no significant effect on the flexural modulus. It seems that the interfacial contacts between the xGnP-coated carbon fibers and the phenolic matrix play a role in enhancing the flexural strength as well as the interlaminar shear strength of the composites.

  • The most apparent aspect of the present study is to introduce a new sequence space 𝚽(𝓛p) derived by double Euler-Totient matrix operator. We examine its topological and algebraic properties and give an inclusion relation. In addition to those, the α-, β(bp)- and γ-duals of the space 𝚽(𝓛p) are determined and finally, some 4-dimensional matrix mapping classes related to this space are characterized.

  • Let p, q be integers such that 2 $\leq$ p, q $\leq$ n, and let $D_{p, q}$ denote the matrix obtained from $I_{n}$, the identity matrix of order n, by replacing each of the first p columns by an all 1's vector and by replacing each of the first two rows and each of the last q-2 rows by an all 1's vector. In this paper the permanent minimization problem over the face, determined by the matrix $D_{p, q}$, of the polytope of all n $\times$ n doubly stochastic matrices is treated.d.

  • One of the interesting nonlinear matrix equations is the quadratic matrix equation defined by $$Q(X)=AX^2+BX+C=0$$, where X is a $n{\times}n$ unknown real matrix, and A, B and C are $n{\times}n$ given matrices with real elements. Another one is the matrix polynomial $$P(X)=A_0X^m+A_1X^{m-1}+{\cdots}+A_m=0,\;X,\;A_i{\in}\mathbb{R}^{n{\times}n}$$. Newton's method is used to find the symmetric and bisymmetric solvents of the nonlinear matrix equations Q(X) and P(X). The method does not depend on the singularity of the Fr$\acute{e}$chet derivative. Finally, we give some numerical examples.

  • In this paper, we give a formula of $(P+Q)^D$ under the conditions $P^2Q+QPQ=0$ and $P^3Q=0$. Then applying it to give some results of block matrix $M=(^A_C^B_D)$ (A and D are square matrices) with generalized Schur complement is zero under some conditions. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.

  • Let $P_I$ be the convex compact set of all unital positive linear maps between the $n \times n$ matrix algebra over the complex field. We find a necessary and sufficient condition for which two maximal faces of $\cap P_I$ intersect. In particular, we show that any pair of maximal faces of $P_I$ has the nonempty intersection, whenever $n \geq 3$.

  • The objective of this study was to develop a pH dependent oral matrix tablet containing probiotics. In this study, hydroxyl-propyl-methyl-cellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone K30 (PVP K-30) was utilized as a binder, sodium starch glycolate (SSG) was used as a disintegrant material for the tablet formulation. The disintegration test, hardness test, angle of response were performed to examine the characteristics of prepared tablet. Lactobacillus vitality test was applied to analyze the total Lactobacillus viable count. The results demonstrated that the pH dependent matrix tablet was prepared successfully and can thus be industrialized instead of the current methodologies used for preparation of conventional probiotics.
