In this study, we investigated the application of oriental history of mathematics in school mathematics teaching. We set up three study problems to achieve this purpose. First, we analyze the middle and high school mathematics textbooks and auxiliary books. Second, we survey the mathematics teacher's knowledge and degree of application on history of mathematics. Third, we develop the teaching and learning materials on oriental history of mathematics. We performed three study-methods to settle above study problem. First, we analyzed 24 textbooks and auxiliary books for study problem 1. There were 6 middle school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books and also 6 high school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books. We categorized the contents into "anecdote", "systematization", "application of problem", "expansibility of thought", and "comparative of the contents". Second, we surveyed the 78 mathematics teachers's knowledge and degree of application using questionnaire about knowledge and application on history of mathematics. The questionnaire was made up of four types of question; the effect of material about history of mathematics, the understanding of western history of mathematics, the understanding of oriental history of mathematics; the direction of development of teaching material. Third, we exemplified the teaching and learning materials about three categories: "anecdote", "comparative of the contents".

In this paper, we shall try to give a comparative study of mathematics developments in ancient Greece and ancient Oriental mathematics. We have found that the Oriental Mathematics. is quantitative, computational and algorithmetic, but the ancient Greece is axiomatic and deductive mathematics in character. The two region mathematics should be unified to give impetus to further development of mathematics in future times.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning and roles of rhymes in oriental mathematics. To do this, we consider the rhymes in traditional chinese, korean, indian, arabian mathematical books and the mathematical knowledge which they implicate. And we discuss the reasons for which they were often used and the roles which they played. In addition, we suggest how to use them in teaching mathematics.

What are mathematics teachers' needs of their professional practice? What contradictions and difficulties do they meet in the condition of their professional development? Treatment method refers to a principle or method for treating diseases in Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM). As doctors determine the ideal treatment for a patient's disease or symptom, they are also able to prescribe effective treatment means for the diseases or symptom such as medicinal materials, prescription, acupuncture and moxibustion. Therefore, if significant symptom-treatment method combinations are found from literature or database, proper treatment means for the patient's diseases or symptom may be presented to TKM doctors and enhanced treatment accuracy and efficiency can be expected. This study aims to analyze the relation between symptom and treatment method by interpreting hypotheses through null hypotheses to find significant symptom-treatment method combinations. This combinations suggested in this study will be compared with TKM experts analysis result to find an objective analysis method and eventually apply the method to medical big data, e.g., a huge amount of literature or treatment records.

Geometry is one of the important parts of Chinese school mathematics. There is a large difference in teaching and contents (standards, curriculum) between the US and China. Many mathematics educators in both countries are trying to reform the instruction of geometry and have made some progress. Close attention has been given to the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (NCTM 2000), in which we have found many good ideas. In this paper, we introduce new developments of school geometry in China and have made some comparisons between the US and China. The new technology is becoming popular step by step in Chinese high schools. We believe we should learn from each other and exchange the ideas. In doing this mathematics teaching will be improved.

Even though Sanhak has a long history, it has disappeared from the stage of modern mathematics. What happened to Sanhak? This article tries to answer the question. In fact, the authors argue that the oriental perception toward to infinity has played an important role in such situation. The authors claim that actual infinity and virtual infinity have resulted in quite different types of mathematics, respectively.

In this paper, we introduced that the differences and reasons about oriental and western consciousness structure by borrowing from Dr. Richard E. Nisbett who is a professor of Michigan University of USA and writer of . And then, we introduced two survey results about likeness, dislikeness and aesthetic sence on mathematics. In their surveys, we researched the differences and attitudes between Korean male students and female students. Furthermore, we present a new educational curriculum to promote university students' various culture consciousness on mathematics.

The aim of this paper is to present two new viscosity rules for nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Under some assumptions, the strong convergence theorems of the purposed new viscosity rules are proved. Some applications are also included.
