  • A phase-locked loop control system designed by using the linear quadratic regulator approach is presented in this paper. The system thus designed is optimal system when system is in locked state and the parameter value of loop filter which is an active PI filter can be obtained easily. By considering the structure of loop filter of phase-locked loop is included in the process to be controlled, a type 1 servo system can be constructed when voltage control oscillator is considered as an integrator. The integral gain of the proposed system obtained by linear quadratic regulator approach can be used as an optimal value to design the parameter of loop filter. The implemented result in controlling the second-order lag pressure process by using the proposed scheme show that the system response is fast with no overshoot and no steady-state error. Furthermore, the experimental results are also shown in term of output disturbance effect rejection, tracking and process parameter changed.

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration control of multi-layer structure for ultra-tall buildings and main tower of large bridge etc. We have modeled the multi-layer structure with the distributed mass system as the lumped mass system of two-degree-of-freedom structure and made experimental equipment. The LQ optimal control theory is applied to the design of the control system. The designed control system is simulated by computer. As a result, the LQ regulator showed good vibration control performance with impact excitation.

  • This paper suggests a suboptimal control scheme of an active suspension system with an asymmetric hydraulic cylinder. In this paper a quarter car model including a nonlinear actuator dynamics is used. A feedback linearization technique is applied to obtain a linear model. An LQ regulator is designed with the linear model to keep robustness against sprung mass variation. The gain of the LQ regulator which depends on the damping coefficient of the damper is calculated by using an RBF neural network for real time application. The improvement achieved with our design is illustrated through comparative simulations.

  • In this paper, the problem of controlling deterministic contimuous linear system with a slightly modified quadratic performance criteria is studied. When the number of out put variables is much lesser then that of state variables, either the controller becomes complex or the performance measure becomes much higher with only output feedback. So the design philosphy treated in this paper lies in finding a compromising point between the controller complexity and the performance measure. thd controller is composed of stasic plus dynamic compensator with order equal to the mtmber of output variables. Several unknowns are unknown parameters are bundled into one, and using Pontryagin's minimum principle, conditions and formula for optimum control are induced which are different from that of Kalman optimal regulator.

  • In this paper the design and construction of discrete model following servo dontroller on the position control system is proposed. The operational time delay of the plant in the controller which is proposed, is considered and the system which is added by the integral compensation in first order difference equation is constructed. By applying the optimal regulator method to the system, the method which find the optimal state feedback gain is developed theoretically. The output of a model which is correspond to a DC Servo motor follow quickly the speed response of a DC Servo motor and the velocity error in ansteady-state is reduced in zero and the position response is controlled correctly, the performance of the controller is contoller is confirmed by Computer Simulation.

  • The aim of this paper is to introduce a method designing the optimal model following boiler-turbine control system using genetic algorithms. This boiler-turbine control system is designed by applying genetic algorithms with reference model to the optimal determination of weighting matrices Q, R that are given by LQ regulator problem. These weighting matrices are optimized simultaneously in the search domain selected adequately. The effectiveness of this boiler-turbine control system is verified by computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a performance improvement to a control system with state feedback control loops and feedforward control loops proposed in a previous paper. The technique allows to solve the regulator problem and at the same time to make the system follow command signal. The scheme is implemented in a 16 bit microcomputer using a floating coprocessor. Tests on a DC machine have been conducted, comparisons with the previous results are made.

  • In this paper, the problem of regulation in the presence of a known firing disturbance is considered. We show how one can apply a disturbance-utilizing control(DUC) theory to a actual gun servo model. Applied disturbance-utilizing control theory is established by combining LQ regulator and reduced order observer in the discrete time domain. To see the performance of the applied method, computer simulation results are given.

  • This study deals with guidance and control laws for an optimal reentry trajectory of a vertical landing reusable launch vehicle (RLV) in the future. First, a guidance law is designed to create the reference trajectory which minimizes propellant consumption. Then, a nonlinear feedback controller based on a linear quadratic regulator is designed to make the vehicle follow the predetermined reference trajectory, The proposed method is simulated for the first stage of the H-II scale rocket.
