In this paper, nonlinear vibration of multi-degree of freedom systems are studied. It has been tried to develop the mathematical model of systems by second-order nonlinear partial differential equations. The masses are connected with linear and nonlinear springs in series. A great effort has been done to solve the nonlinear governing equations analytically. A new analytical method called Variational Iteration Method (VIM) is proposed and successfully applied to the problem. The linear and nonlinear frequencies are obtained and the results are compared with numerical solutions. The first order of Variational Iteration Method (VIM) leads us to high accurate solution.

From the weakly nonlinear mild-slope wave equations introduced by Nadaoka et al.(1994, 1997), a set of weakly nonlinear wave equations for rapidly varying topography are derived by including the bottom curvature and slope-squared tenns ignored in the original equations ofNadaoka et al. To solve the linear version of extended wave equations derived in this study one-dimensional finite difference numerical model is con¬structed. The perfonnance of the model is tested for the case of wave reflection from a plane slope with various inclination. The numerical results are compared with the results calculated using other numerical models reported earlier. The comparison shows that the accuracy of the numerical model is improved significantly in comparison with that of the original equations ofNadaoka et al. by including a complete set of bottom curva1w'e and slope¬squared terms for a rapidly varying topography.
The analysis of nonlinear vibrations, buckling, post-buckling, flutter boundary determination and post-flutter behavior of a homogeneous curved plate assuming cylindrical bending is conducted in this article. Other assumptions include simply-supported boundary conditions, supersonic aerodynamic flow at the top of the plate, constant pressure conditions below the plate, non-viscous flow model (using first- and third-order piston theory), nonlinear structural model with large deformations, and application of mechanical and thermal loads on the curved plate. The analysis is performed with constant environmental indicators (flow density, heat, Reynolds number and Mach number). The material properties (i.e., coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity) are temperature-dependent. The equations are derived using the principle of virtual displacement. Furthermore, based on the definitions of virtual work, the potential and kinetic energy of the final relations in the integral form, and the governing nonlinear differential equations are obtained after fractional integration. This problem is solved using two approaches. The frequency analysis and flutter are studied in the first approach by transferring the handle of ordinary differential equations to the state space, calculating the system Jacobin matrix and analyzing the eigenvalue to determine the instability conditions. The second approach discusses the nonlinear frequency analysis and nonlinear flutter using the semi-analytical solution of governing differential equations based on the weighted residual method. The partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations, after which they are solved based on the Runge-Kutta fourth- and fifth-order methods. The comparison between the results of frequency and flutter analysis of curved plate is linearly and nonlinearly performed for the first time. The results show that the plate curvature has a profound impact on the instability boundary of the plate under supersonic aerodynamic loading. The flutter boundary decreases with growing thermal load and increases with growing curvature.
In this work, we investigate solving two-dimensional nonlinear Volterra integral equations of the first kind (2DNVIEF). Here we convert 2DNVIEF to the two-dimensional linear Volterra integral equations of the first kind (2DLVIEF) and then we solve it by using operational approach of the Tau method. But for solving the 2DLVIEF we convert it to an equivalent equation of the second kind and then by giving some theorems we formulate the operational Tau method with standard base for solving the equation of the second kind. Finally, some numerical examples are given to clarify the efficiency and accuracy of presented method.
We suggest a generalized Lax pair on a Hermitian symmetric space to generate a new coupled higher-order nonlinear $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ equation of a dual type which contains both bright and dark soliton equations depending on parameters in the Lax pair. Through the generalized ways of reduction and the scaling transformation for the coupled higher-order nonlinear $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ equation, two integrable types of higher-order dark soliton equations and their extensions to vector equations are newly derived in addition to the corresponding equations of the known higher-order bright solitons. Analytical discussion on a general scalar solution of the higher-order dark soliton equation is then made in detail.
At present, research on providing new methods to solve nonlinear integral equations for minimizing the error in the numerical calculations is in progress. In this paper, necessary conditions for existence and uniqueness of solution for nonlinear 2D Fredholm integral equations are given. Then, two different numerical solutions are presented for this kind of equations using 2D shifted Legendre polynomials. Moreover, some results concerning the error analysis of the best approximation are obtained. Finally, illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the new techniques.
In this paper, we investigate the transcendental meromorphic solutions for the nonlinear differential equations $f^nf^{(k)}+Q_{d_*}(z,f)=R(z)e^{{\alpha}(z)}$ and fnf(k) + Qd(z, f) = p1(z)eα1(z) + p2(z)eα2(z), where $Q_{d_*}(z,f)$ and Qd(z, f) are differential polynomials in f with small functions as coefficients, of degree d* (≤ n - 1) and d (≤ n - 2) respectively, R, p1, p2 are non-vanishing small functions of f, and α, α1, α2 are nonconstant entire functions. In particular, we give out the conditions for ensuring the existence of these kinds of meromorphic solutions and their possible forms of the above equations.
We present a new algorithm for solving a system of nonlinear equations with convex constraints which combines proximal point and projection methodologies. Compared with the existing projection methods for solving the problem, we use a different system of linear equations to obtain the proximal point; and moreover, at the step of getting next iterate, our projection way and projection region are also different. Based on the Armijo-type line search procedure, a new hyperplane is introduced. Using the separate property of hyperplane, the new algorithm is proved to be globally convergent under much weaker assumptions than monotone or more generally pseudomonotone. We study the convergence rate of the iterative sequence under very mild error bound conditions.
This paper is concerned with oscillation property of solutions of a class of second order nonlinear differential equations with perturbation. Four new theorems of oscillation property are established. These results develop and generalize the known results. Among these theorems, two theorems in the front develop the results by Yan J(Proc Amer Math Soc, 1986, 98: 276-282), and the last two theorems in this paper are completely new for the second order linear differential equations.
The closed form solution of the equilibrium equations in the ultimate design of reinforced concrete sections under biaxial bending is presented. The stresses in the materials are described by the Model Code 1990 equations. Computation of the integral equations is performed generally in terms of all variables. The deformed shape of the section in the ultimate conditions is defined by Heaviside functions. The procedure is convenient for the use of mathematical manipulation programs and the results are easily included into nonlinear analysis codes. The equations developed for rectangular sections can be applied for other sections, such as T, L, I for instance, by decomposition into rectangles. Numerical examples of the developed model for rectangular sections and composed sections are included.
