유럽과 일본 다국적기업들의 글로벌소싱 전략간의 유사점자 차이점에 대한 연구 (A Comparative Study of European and Japanese Multinational Firms' Global Sourcing Strategies)

  • 본 논문은 글로벌소싱이 빈번하게 이루어지고 있는 유럽과 일본에 기반을 둔 다국적기업들의 미국내 자회사를 대상으로 글로벌소싱의 목적 및 유사성과 차이점에 대해 조사하는데 목적이 있다. 특히 본 연구는 글로벌소싱을 기업내부에서 구매하는 인소싱(insourcing 흑은 intra-firm sourcing)과 기업외부에서 구매하는 아웃소싱(outsourcing 혹은 inter-firm sourcing)으로 구분하여 각 소싱전략의 중요성을 유럽과 일본의 다국적기업에 대해서 실증적으로 연구하였다.

한국 다국적기업의 해외진출에 대한 지분선택 : 현지합작 대비 단독투자 (The Choice between Shared vs. Full Ownership : The Case of Korean Multinational Corporations)

  • This study is based on the survey data of 74 Korean multinational corporations, which undertook foreign direct investments from 1980 to 1996. The study examined the firm-specific as well as the host country-specific factors affecting the decision between shared and full ownership. According to the results of this study, as for the firm-specific factors, Korean firms entering foreign markets in order to penetrate local markets prefer shared ownership while those pursuing core business diversification prefer full ownership. As for the host country factors, the more advanced the host country(such as OECD countries) is, the more preference is given to full ownership.

  • Changes in the global business environment continue at an accelerated pace. The 21st century maybe remarked, perhaps, for its hot issues on globalization and diversity. Diversity may arise in terms of ethnic, gender, age and culture. Cultural diversity out of all stands out in front in modern times as more multinational companies operate internationally resulting more people to start living abroad and work with people from different cultures. In recent years, these multinational companies realized the important roles human resource management play in international trade since cultural diversity is very influential on their work performance. A well-managed human resources will ensure organizations' success to a great extent. This paper touches the field of cultural diversity and introduces human resource management of international trade as a way to handle diversity matters faced by international organizations.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the problems to be solved in the marketing strategy aspect by domestic pharmaceutical industry under the competitive market circumstances with multinational pharmaceutic enterprises. The major concern has been paid to the key ideas and practical methods to be needed in strengthening the competitive marketing power of domestic pharmaceutical industry against multinational pharmaceutical enterprises. In this article, the researcher is to analyze the current situations and problems of domestic pharmaceutical industry and finally the researcher is to provide the major ideas concerning the problems to be solved in the marketing strategy aspect by domestic pharmaceutical industries.

  • Common system deployment is one of the global information systems strategies of a multinational corporation for large-scale development that can provide economies of scale and optimal use of scarce technical expertise. But while the same (headquarter) team implements the same system, the resulting efficiencies of those projects differ widely among the subsidiaries. This paper focuses on the differences between the efficiencies of these implementation projects. Eight prepropositions about the factors causing the differences have been developed from the previous research. These prepropositions are explored through a case study on the twelve overseas subsidiaries of a multinational electronic corporation headquartered in Korea. We found that three factors(autonomy of subsidiary, complexity of task, experience level of users) have strong relevant relationships and two factors(level of subsidiary country, level of process formality) have partial relevant relationships with the implementation outcome.

  • This study aims to analyze which subsidiary configuration strategy is more effective under uncertainty especially technology base multinational corporations (henceforth MNCs). In previous studies real option theory scholars argue that high breadth subsidiary configuration is most effective strategy because that provides flexibility to MNCs global network. In this study I want unveil more various types of uncertainty such as technology and learning uncertainty which are more important for technology base firm and further more examine the effect of MNCs subsidiary configuration on firm R&D performance each uncertainty case. Empirical study is performed by negative binominal model based on Japanese 108 multinational corporations. The result shows that under technology uncertainty, high breadth subsidiary configuration is better for firm R&D performance but under learning uncertainty high depth subsidiary configuration is better. Thus, the effects of MNCs subsidiary configuration on firm value can differ by types of uncertainty.

Correlation between Sales of Foreign Affiliates and Productivity of Multinational Firms: Evidence from Korean Firm-Level Data

  • Using firm-level panel data for Korean multinational enterprises (MNEs), we make a distinction between being the only affiliate of a parent firm and being one of the multiple affiliates of a parent firm. In particular, we attempt to find a correlation between the sales of foreign affiliates and the productivity of multinational firms. Our main empirical results in this paper suggest that productive Korean MNEs would enlarge the number of affiliates in the host country.

베트남 커피변경지역의 글로벌 가치사슬과 공유가치 창출 (Global Value Chains and Creating Shared Value in Vietnamese Coffee Frontier)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 베트남 커피변경지역이 글로벌 가치사슬에 통합되는 과정에서 나타나는 가치의 전유 및 실현관계를 고찰하고, 공유가치창출에 대한 지속가능한 커피 글로벌 가치사슬의 의미를 분석하고자 한다. 최근 베트남의 대표적 커피 변경지역인 닥락성은 일반 커피생산의 착취적 가치사슬에서 인증 커피 생산에 따른 공유가치사슬로의 전환을 경험하였다. 이와 같은 전환은 글로벌 가치사슬에서 지역의 교섭력과 경쟁우위를 강화시킴으로써 지속적인 가치 창출을 수반할 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다. 그러나 실질적으로 농가, 중개인, 외국 가공업체와 같은 지역 이해관계자간 이윤 분배의 위계성이 더욱 심화되는 현상이 나타났다. 이와 같은 현상의 원인은 크게 두 가지 측면에서 나타났다. 첫째, 다국적기업, 중개인, 농가 간 전속관계의 형성은 이해관계자에게 안정적인 시장을 확보해 주었지만, 다국적 기업이 전속 커피 중개인을 통해 농가를 간접적으로 통제함으로써 이해관계자 간 위계가 더욱 심화되었다. 둘째, 공유가치창출의 명목으로 농가로 전가된 사회적 및 생태적 비용이 농가의 경제적 이윤 획득을 악화시킨 반면에 다국적기업으로의 비대칭적이고 위계적인 이윤 분배를 가져왔다. 그 결과, 닥락성에 보다 위계적이고 종속적인 글로벌 가치사슬이 형성되었다.

  • Somalian pirates with the onset of civil war in the early 1990s have caused a threat to international transportation. Various international organizations including the International Maritime Organization and the World Food Program are concerned about this problem. The cost of shipping is increasing and food-aid shipment is hindered by these ships are needed military escort. Since 2008, international society has deployed multinational naval vessel in the nearby Somalian sea and strengthen multinational naval operations to minimize damages from piracy.

  • Recently MNC's(multinational companies) Worldwide have been expanding their own territories in the wake of acceleration and open-door policy of global competition. So, In this study, the main goal is conduct an empirical research for MNC's contingency factors and entry modes. Through examining elements of success and limitations of foreign companies in the domestic market, a resulting purpose can be suggested such as developing attractive foreign investment policy.
