Ball screw형 전동식 동력 조향 장치의 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Control Algorithm for a Ball Screw Type of Motor Driven Power Steering System)

  • The power wteering system for automobiles is becoming core popular for supporting steering efforts of the drivers, especially for a parking lot maneuver. Though hydraulic power steering has been widely used for a long time, the efficiency of that is not high enough. The motor driven power steering system can solve the problems associated with the hydraulic power steering system. In this study, dynamic model and control algorithm of the ball screw type of MDPS systenem have been derived and analysed by using the method of discrete modeling technology. To improve steering feel and power steering characteristics, the additional scheme is proposed to the conventional power boosting control algorithm. Through simulations, control gain effects to the steering angle gain in the frequency domain were verified. The steering returnability and steering torque phase lag in on-center handing test were performed also.

  • This paper proposes an APF(Active Power Filter) with WRIM(Wounded Rotor Induction Motor) controlled by sliding mode which can compensate harmonic currents generated in a power system. As non-linear loads increase gradually in industry fields, harmonic current generated In the electric power network system also increases. Harmonic current makes a power network current distorted and generates heat, vibration and noise In the power machinery, Many approaches have been applied to compensate harmonic currents generated in the power system. Among various control strategy, in this paper, a sliding mode controlled systems is designed and evaluated. This is a flywheel compensator based on secondary excitation of WRIM(wounded rotor induction motor) with SMC(sliding mode controller). The proposed system uses a flywheel as an energy storage device. The designed control scheme is verified through simulation.

Analysis of Off-Line and On-Line Partial Discharge in High Voltage Motor Stator Windings

  • The off-line and on-line partial discharge (PD) in the stator winding of three high-voltage (HV) motors (1,400 HP, 6.6 kV) is measured and analyzed in this paper. The off-line PD is measured at high values between 24,300 ~ 36,100 pC after 18 years of motor operation. Spare replacement motors were not available for testing the degree of deterioration of the stator windings in standstill status. Therefore, on-line periodic analysis was conducted to monitor the trend of PD after installing a ceramic sensor (110 pF, 6.6 kV) in the terminal box for each phase of each motor. In the stator winding of the No.1 and No.2 HV motors, which showed high magnitudes of off-line PD and low magnitudes of on-line PD, defects are expected to appear in the neutral end of the winding. On the contrary, in the stator windings of the No.3 HV motor, which exhibits high off-line and on-line PD magnitude, defects are expected to appear in the terminal end of the winding where a voltage close to the phase voltage is applied.

A Control Method for Power-Assist Devices using a BLDC Motor for Manual Wheelchairs

  • This paper proposes a new operation and control strategy for Power-Assisted Wheelchairs (PAW) using one brushless DC (BLDC) motor. The conventional electrical wheelchairs are too heavy and large for one person to move because they have two electric motor wheels. On the other hand, the proposed PAW system has a small volume and is easy to move due to the presence of a single wheel motor. Unlike the conventional electric wheelchairs, this structure for a PAW does not have a control joystick to reduce its weight and volume. To control the wheelchair without a joystick, a special control system and algorithm are needed for proper operation of the wheelchair. In the proposed PAW system uses only one sensor to detect the acceleration and direction of PAW's movement. By using this sensor, speed control can be achieved. With a speed control system, there are three kinds of operations that can be done on the speed of a PAW: the increment of PAW speed by summing external force, the decrement of PAW speed by subtracting external force, and emergency breaking by evaluating the time duration of external force. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through experimental results.

  • Most adjustable-speed drives (ASDs) designed to operate low voltage induction motors incorporate voltage-source inverters (VSIs), which create motor voltages at high switching frequencies. The motor leads used to connect an ASD to a motor can behave like transmission lines for voltage pulses, which can be reflected at the motor terminals. The resulting oscillatory transient, known as the long-lead effect, can stress and consequently degrade the stator insulation system of a motor. This paper describes the results of tests to 1) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the length of motor leads and 2) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the switching frequency of the ASD Insulation failures like this usually are caused by voltage surges. Voltage surges are often the result of switching power circuits, lightning strikes, capacitor discharges and solid-state power devices.

  • 본 원고는 직류전원에서 사용하는 직류용 소형전동기(motor)로 전력용 반도체 제어소자인 Power Transistor, MOSFET를 이용하여 전동기(motor) 구동의 드라이브 회로를 구성하고 전동기 동작원리와 정 역회전의 회전방향 제어에 대하여 다루고자 한다. 그리고, 제동운전 및 펄스폭 변조(PWM)에 의해 가변되는 회전속도제어 방법에 대해 기술하여 직류용 전동기(motor)의 기본적인 원리를 이해함과 더불어 마이크로프로세서를 이용한 다양한 전동기(motor) 제어방법을 제시하였다.

히트파이프를 부착한 구동모터의 냉각성능에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Cooling Performance of the Driving Motor Utilizing Heat Pipe)

  • This research is to verify the cooling effect of the acting surface on the rotary motor using heat pipe and conventional cooling fan. In order to show the cooling performance of the rotary motor and heat pipe with the fin-typed heat sink, the surface temperature of the motor and condenser was measured in real time. The experiments were also conducted as for not only cooling device installed with heat pipe only, but with heat pipe and conventional cooling fan simultaneously. The present experiment reveals that the cooling combination of the heat pipe and cooling fan is far superior to the conventional cooling device for the driving motor such as the fin-typed heat sink. When the driving voltage of 20V and 14V were supplied to the driving motor, the cooling performance of the rotary motor with heat pipe was 170% and 500%, respectively better than that without heat pipe on steady state condition.

A Design Optimization of Asymmetric Air-gap Structure for Small 3-phase Permanent Magnet SPM BLDC Motor

  • As many researchers are relentlessly trying to improve the power generation schemes from the power grid, to meet the constantly increasing electricity demand. In this paper, the results of a finite element analysis are carried out to study on a design optimization of an asymmetric air-gap structure in 3-phase Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motors. To achieve a high efficiency for a 3-phase PM BLDC motor, the asymmetric air-gap structure is proposed considering the rotation direction of a motor. Generally, a single-phase BLDC motor is applied asymmetric air-gap structure for starting. This is because the asymmetric air-gap structure causes reluctance variation so the motor can utilize reluctance torque toward a rotation direction. In this paper, the asymmetric air-gap is applied to 3-phase BLDC SPM motor so it utilizes reluctance torque with alignment torque. A proposed model is designed by 2-D FE analysis and the results are verified by experimental test.

  • Current Source Inverter(CSI) operated in square wave mode is more efficient than the PWM CSI because of increased cost greater complexity of control algorithm, and substantial switching losses EMI. But the square wave output current of CSI rich in low order harmonics produce motor torque ripples. Therefore in this paper describes the active power filters for square wave current compensation of current source induction motor. Also extended current synchronous detection(ECSD) as compensation algorithm is proposed. To confirm the validity o proposed system some simulation results are presented and discussed.
