The Action Mode of $\beta$-glucosidase Purified from Trichoderma koningii (Trichoderma koningii에서 분리한 $\beta$-glucosidase의 작용양상)

  • We have examined the mode of transglycosylation, catalyzed by an extracellular $\beta$-glucosidase purified from Trichoderma koningii ATCC 26113, using cellobiose, sophorose, laminaribiose and gentiobiose as substrates. The dimers separated from the reaction mixture by HPLC were analyzed by $^(1)H$-NMR spectroscopy. When cellobiose was subjected to the action of the $\beta$-glucosidase, the products included laminaribiose, sophorose and gentiobiose. When laminaribiose, sophorose or gentiobiose was used as a substrate, the $\beta$-glucosidase accumulated transglycosylation products possessing different types of $\beta$-glycosidic linkages from the original one. The amount of dimers accumulated as reaction proceeded seemed to be dependent on the velocity of hydrolysis but not on that of formation.

  • As Cable-stayed bridges were constructed to the long span, they have become bigger and had weaknesses to vibration induced by earthquake, wind and vehicle loads. Structural damages induced by these loads affect the characteristic of vibration modes of structure. Damage detection of cable-stayed bridges by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. Also it requires very much time and cost. So in this study, the investigation of characteristic change of structural action and the detection of structural damages is analyzed by using characteristic properties of vibration mode before and after structural damage.

  • Systematic pharmacological studies on powdered whole part of unossified antler obtained from Cervus nippon Temminck var. mantchuricus have been carried out in mice and rats. Powdered antler, with a single oral administration, showed a very weak acute and subacute toxicity; its MLD being >5g/kg orally in mice. On daily oral treatments of the antler for 14 days, it did not cause any significant differences in body weight gain, various organ weights and serum transaminase activities compared to those of the control rats. Powdered antler, with a single oral administration, showed a remarkable analgesic activity as evaluated by writhing syndrome and tail-pressure test, a weak CNS depressant activity as well as a weak immunopotentiating action as evaluated by carbon clearance test in mice. Powdered antler, with repeated treatments, showed a moderate antifatigue effect against immobilized stress and showed significant increases in both adrenal weight and its ascorbic acid content in rats, suggesting that the mode of antifatigue effect of antler is related to adrenal and its components.

  • 본 논문에서는 한국형 틸팅열차의 유지보수 활동을 위해 신뢰성기반유지보수체계를 제안하였다. 열차시스템을 3단계의 교체 부품 단위로 분류하고, 각 단위에 대해 기능블록도를 작성한 후 고장모드 영향 분석을 실시하였다. 각 단위의 심각도를 결정한 후 유지보수 정책을 제안하였으며, 틸팅열차를 위한 유지보수 기준을 정하고, 실제 사례를 제시하였다. 제안된 신뢰성기반유지보수체계는 기존 유지보수 체계와도 호환성을 갖고 있으며, 안전성 향상과 유지보수 활동 효율화에 기여할 수 있다.In this paper, a reliability centered maintenance (RCM) system is proposed to perform maintenance action for Korean Tilting Train. The train system was divided into line replaceable units up to three steps. Functional block diagrams were drawn and failure mode effect analysis for the units was carried out. The criticality of each unit was determined and a maintenance policy was proposed. Maintenance and repair criteria for the tilting train were determined and an example was presented. The proposed RCM system is compatible with the previous maintenance system and contributes to improvement of safety and efficiency of maintenance action.

  • Common mode voltage (CMV) generation is a major problem in switching power converter fed induction motor drive systems. CMV is the zero sequence voltage generated due to the switching action of power converters. Even a small magnitude of CMV with a high rate of change may circulate large bearing currents which may damage a machine's bearings and shorten its life. There are several methods of controlling CMV. This paper presents 3-level sinusoidal pulse width modulation based techniques to control the magnitude and rate of change of CMV in multilevel AC-DC-AC drive systems. Simulation and experimental investigations have been presented to validate the performance of proposed technique to control CMV in 3-level neutral point clamped inverter based AC-DC-AC system.

Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control Design for Cascaded Control System of PMSG Wind Turbine

  • This study focuses on an advanced second-order sliding mode control strategy for a variable speed wind turbine based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator to maximize wind power extraction while simultaneously reducing the mechanical stress effect. The control design based on a modified version of the super-twisting algorithm with variable gains can be applied to the cascaded system scheme comprising the current control loop and speed control loop. The proposed control inheriting the well-known robustness of the sliding technique successfully deals with the problems of essential nonlinearity of wind turbine systems, the effects of disturbance regarding variation on the parameters, and the random nature of wind speed. In addition, the advantages of the adaptive gains and the smoothness of the control action strongly reduce the chatter signals of wind turbine systems. Finally, with comparison with the traditional super-twisting algorithm, the performance of the system is verified through simulation results under wind speed turbulence and parameter variations.

A study on the Nonlinear Normal Mode Vibration Using Adelphic Integral

  • Nonlinear normal mode (NNM) vibration, in a nonlinear dual mass Hamiltonian system, which has 6$\^$th/ order homogeneous polynomial as a nonlinear term, is studied in this paper. The existence, bifurcation, and the orbital stability of periodic motions are to be studied in the phase space. In order to find the analytic expression of the invariant curves in the Poincare Map, which is a mapping of a phase trajectory onto 2 dimensional surface in 4 dimensional phase space, Whittaker's Adelphic Integral, instead of the direct integration of the equations of motion or the Birkhoff-Gustavson (B-G) canonical transformation, is derived for small value of energy. It is revealed that the integral of motion by Adelphic Integral is essentially consistent with the one obtained from the B-G transformation method. The resulting expression of the invariant curves can be used for analyzing the behavior of NNM vibration in the Poincare Map.

Influences of the Filter Effect on Pulse Splitting in Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Laser with Positive Dispersion Cavity

  • Based on the extended nonlinear Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equation, the influences of the filter effect on pulse splitting in a passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser with positive dispersion cavity are investigated theoretically. Numerical results show that, as the bandwidth of the spectral filter decreases, the nonlinear chirp appended to the pulse increases under the combined action of the filter effect of the super-Gaussian spectral filter and the self-phase modulation effect. On further decreasing the bandwidth, the wave breaking of the pulse takes place. In addition, by varying the pump power of the laser or the profile of the spectral filter, the influences of the filter effect on pulse splitting also change accordingly.

  • An efficient sensing scheme adoptable in DC-DC converter is described. The output voltage of the whole DC-DC converter is fed back to the input voltage of the sensor. The comparison in the sensor is accomplished by a current push-pull action. With a fixed reference, the comparator can be embodied based on (W/L) ratios. The current-mode scheme benefits the system better than a conventional voltage-mode one in terms of small area, low power consumption.

Composite Control for Inverted Pendulum System

  • A new composite control method for a carriage balancing single inverted pendulum system is proposed and applied to swing up the pendulum and to stabilize it under the state constraint. The target inverted pendulum system has an extremely limited length of the cart(below 16cm). The proposed swing-up controller comprises a sliding mode control algorithm and an optimal control algorithm based on two regions: the region near the inverted unstable equilibrium position and the rest of the state space including the downward stable equilibrium position. The sliding mode controller uses a switching control action to converge along the specified path(hyperplane) derived from energy equation from a state around the path to desired state(standing position). An optimal control method is also used to guarantee the stability at unstable equilibrium position. Compared with the reported controllers, it is simpler and easier to implement. Experimental results are given to show the effectiveness of this controller.
