A Novel Noise Reduction Method for Measuring Partial Discharge in High Voltage Electric Machinery (고압 전기설비 부분방전시험을 위한 노이즈 저감방안)

  • Partial discharges(PD) is a important factor to evaluate the insulation state in high voltage electric machinery. However, measuring PD under the circumstances of power plant is occasionally impossible due to the relatively high magnitude of noise which is emanated from the operating machinery. In some case, the instrument measuring PD can not even perform a calibration that initializes tools and enhance the accuracy. This paper presents that we devised a noise reduction method and demonstrated the usefulness in acquiring reliable PD signals. We attached a series of filter and transformer at the input of power source of the instruments which refrains high noise signals from incoming to the instruments. We experimented the efficiency of noise reduction applying the device into the Dangjin Power Plant and Factory. As a result of testing with the filter and transformer, we can easily calibrate the PD signal compared to the case without the device. Additionally, we can detect the small PD signal which was unperceived with a normal device.

  • Safety diagnosis on the driving system of electric train is performed using the vibration and noise signals of running railway train. Safety diagnosis is tried on the viewpoints of the appreciation of superannuation and the fault diagnosis of motor, reduction gear and boggie. The appreciation of superannuation is checked by the rms vibration levels of driving parts and the fault diagnosis is done by analyzing the frequencies of the vibration signals. The methods of measuring and analyzing the signals are decided on the basis of field 1-measured signals. The results shows that the vibration levels of each parts increase as the train goes older and each parts have their own frequency patterns of the vibration. As the results, the vibration and noise can be utilized successfully for the safety diagnosis of the driving part of electric train.

Design and Application of Electric Field Sensor for Measuring PD Signals in High Voltage Equipments (고전압설비에서 발생하는 부분방전 검출용 전계센서의 설계 및 특성 검토)

  • It is very difficult and dangerous to measure PD(Partial Discharges) from high voltage equipments in outdoor situation. But that is very important thing for preventing them from more serious accident by defects made by insulating degradation. This paper provides useful method to detect PD signals easily without any dangerous situation. Electric field sensor by the principle of capacitor can detect PD signals without direct connection between sensor and high voltage equipment and has very wide frequency range suitable for noise rejection. Electric field sensor and related circuit for processing PD signal show good performance as a PD sensor when it is applied to simulated high power equipment generating PD pulses.

  • The 24 channel meridian electric-potential measuring System consists of a main cpu module, bio-signal analog module, interface module, power module, personal computer. The graphic user interface program conveniently allows user to setup, calibrate, measure, store, and control the meridian electric-potential measuring system. This system and program will continually be evolved using a database of clinically correlated meridian electric-potential. A variety of system configurations gives it the ability to make a user-favorable environment for measuring.

  • In this paper, we implement a signal-detecting electric circuit based LED lighting control system which is essential in NUI technology using EPIC converting surrounding earth electric field disturbance signals to electric potential signals. We used signal-detecting electric circuits which was developed to extract individual signal for each EPIC sensor while conventional EPIC-based development equipments provide limited forms of signals. The signals extracted from our developed circuit contributed to better performance as well as flexiblity in processes of feature extracting stage and pattern recognition stage. We designed a system which can control the brightness and on/off of LED lights with four hand gestures in order to justify its applicability to real application systems. We obtained faster pattern classification speed not only by developing an instruction system, but also by using interface control signals.

  • In this study, on-line measuring system were developed to verify performances and characteristics of electric braking system that is used in KTX(Korea Train eXpress) synthetically and efficiently Because KTX is commercial vehicle, effective measurement and evaluation of measuring signals were performed beyond the range of change for equipment components. KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) described about running-braking measuring program, running-braking backup program and running-braking analysis program that were developed using a software called LabVIEW in this paper. Also, we analyzed the characteristics comparing experimental values with design values about braking distance, braking time, negative acceleration and braking effort in rheostatic braking and regenerative braking. In result, main performances and characteristics for electric braking system in KTX were verified.

  • The additional matters appear to be considered in several aspects for building up power-quality measuring system of transmission system(high voltage system) compared to distribution system(middle or low voltage system). Like in distribution system, input signals are also received from PT and CT source of voltage and current respectively in transmission system and applied in accordance with a certain rate. In this case, very big error rate can be occurred according to the specification of the measuring system as the applying rate is bigger than in distribution system beyond comparison. In addition, when the abnormal signal occurred such as sag/swell, interruption, transient etc., power quality of other sites linked to the system also should be checked to find the accurate cause of the abnormal power-quality signals from the corresponding site. Accordingly, the accurate diagnosis on the condition of Power quality for the system depends on the way how the synchronization system is brought along for each site. This paper will suggest the solution for the most effective system building focused on how to solve the problem of the error rate and synchronization described in the above when building up the measuring system of power quality for transmission system.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to develop a multimeter which is used for measuring electric signals in industrial field by using battery and display of smart phone. Most of the multimeters that are linked to existing smartphones are connected to Bluetooth, which is inconvenient for battery use and low in measurement accuracy. To improve this, we developed smart multimeter that can supply power and data at the same time by USB OTG method which can be used by sharing the power of smartphone. We also developed a smart multimeter that can measure resistance, DC voltage, current, AC voltage and current. Developed an Android app with a button that displays measurement data and can select the type of electric signal to be measured, and tests whether the manufactured system is operating normally or not. Respectively.The results of this study confirm that it is possible to fabricate a smart meter that has equal or better performance compared to existing instruments and does not require a separate power source or display, and it is expected to be a reference for the development of various smart instruments in the future.

  • In this study, on-line measuring system were developed to verify performances and functions of traction system that are used in KTX(Korea Train eXpress) synthetically and efficiently, and have been measuring electric signals of vehicle as well as mechanical signals up to the present. Running-braking measuring equipment was constructed in vehicle to optimize signal acquisition and analysis ability of the measuring system. Measurement data of signal were performed acquisition, analysis and evaluation using this equipment. KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) described about main specifications of measuring equipment. Also, the structure and principles as well as main circuit system were explained in brief. KRRI analyzed the characteristics comparing design values with experimental values about running distance, running time and positive acceleration for KTX is running in full traction. We analyzed the distance and time according to number of motor block. In result, running characteristics of traction system in KTX were verified and could be evaluated.
