  • By assuming a general progressive Type-II censored sample, we propose the minimum risk estimator (MRE) and the approximate maximum likelihood estimator (AMLE) of the scale parameter of the one-parameter exponential distribution. An example is given to illustrate the methods of estimation discussed in this paper.

  • By assuming a progressively censored sample, we propose the approximate maximum likelihood estimator (AMLE) of the location nd the scale parameters of the two-parameter normal distribution and obtain the asymptotic variances and covariance of the AMLEs. An example is given to illustrate the methods of estimation discussed in this paper.

  • In this paper, We assume that strengths of two components system follow a bivariate pareto distribution. And these two components are subjected to a common stress which is independent of the strength of the components. We obtain maximum likelihood estimator(MLE) for the system reliability from stress-strength relationship. Also we derive asymptotic properties of the MLE and present a numerical study.

  • We consider the problem of estimating the scale and shape parameter of the Weibull distribution based on censored samples. we propose the approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLEs) of the scale and shape parameters in the Weibull distribution based on Type-II censored samples. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of mean squared error (MSE).

  • We propose some estimators of the location parameter and derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLEs) of the scale parameter in the exponential distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We calculate the moments for the proposed estimators of the location parameter, and the AMLEs which are the linear functions of the order statistics. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error (MSE) for various censored samples.

  • To get the knowledge of land uses for watersheds, Thematic Mapper image from Landsat 5 satellite was used. The image was classified into land covers/uses by maximum likelihood classification technique. Land uses from the satellite image in this study was compared with those from the topographical map in previous. It was found that Land uses from the satellite image had a good reflection of real situations and more advantage in the reduction of time and cost.

  • This article is concerned with a class of threshold-asymmetric GARCH models both for stationary case and for non-stationary case. We investigate large sample properties of estimators from QML(quasi-maximum likelihood) and QL(quasilikelihood) methods. Asymptotic distributions are derived and it is interesting to note for non-stationary case that both QML and QL give asymptotic normal distributions.

  • The objective of this paper is to discuss the stochastic analysis and the statistical inference of a three-states semi-Markov reliability model. Using the maximum likelihood procedure, the parameters included in this model are estimated. Based on the assumption that the lifetime and repair time of the system are gener-alized Weibull random variables, the reliability function of this system is obtained. Then, the distribution of the first passage time of this system is derived. Many important special cases are discussed. Finally, the obtained results are compared with those available in the literature.

  • This paper proposes a method in one-way layouts for longitudinal data with informative drop-out. When dropouts are informative, that is, correlated with unobserved data and/or the previous observed data, the simple imputation methods such as 'last observation carried forward' (LOCF) methods would arise the bias of the testing models. The maximum likelihood procedure combined with a logit model for the drop-out process is proposed to test treatment effects for one factorial designs and compared with LOCF method in two examples.
