The research method is as follows. In order to understand the current status of the kits used in makeup lessons offered by lifelong education centers of colleges in South Korea, the study conducted a survey from October 10 of 2014 to October 31 via fax, telephone and e-mail targeting these 98 colleges that were open makeup-courses available in October 2014. As for an analysis technique, the study used a frequency analysis. In order to develop a makeup-kit brand, the study investigated these makeup-kits as well and presented a BI draft and a makeup-kit design that the study had created for itself using Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS4. According to findings of the survey, the students were not satisfied with kits that had too many items, were high in price and had poor case design. In the light of that, the study conducted to develop a low to middle priced makeup-kit ranging from 110,000 KRW and 150,000 KRW with approximately 26 items. In terms of a case design, black was a dominant color which would make the case feel simple and modern. Dimensions of a small size makeup-kit container were 22cm*35cm*37cm with a sponge and rubber pad proposed as product ideas. The study also worked on a BI design.

  • This study analyzed the qualifications necessary and manpower required in the Jeju nail art and make-up industry. We aimed to investigate the relationship between NCS education and national technical qualifications. For this study, 164 participants were given a questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed via frequency analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Ver. 18.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Matching job seekers with available positions was more difficult in nail art businesses than in makeup businesses. The main routes by which practitioners found jobs were Internet job sites and acquaintances. In addition, experience was the first consideration in hiring employees. 2. Those in high positions had less intention of employing students who had received NCS education, than those in lower positions. Intention to employ NCS graduates was high in businesses that found their employees through Internet job sites, vocational training institutes, acquaintances, or colleagues. Nail art workers prioritized NCS educational units in the following order: nail care, nail shop hygiene, gel nails, cosmetic nail removal, and tips/wraps. Makeup workers had the following priorities: basic makeup, wedding makeup, makeup shop safety, and hygiene management. They also mentioned basic occupational skills such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills. Moreover, the new national licensing system was found to reflect competency in the most important skill sets.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the makeup done to two female protagonists in the film, 'Chicago,' and explore how this makeup - nonverbal communication means - is realized in the area of makeup presentation for femme fatale and how it is societally accepted. Makeup varies by the femme-fatale types, and the general female population can apply these for images they want to express. In the future research, it might be interesting to examine specifically which femme-fatale images are preferred in Korea and the makeup and clothing of Korean stars who primarily influence these images.

  • 330 Korean adult women were examined the correlation between degree of makeup and makeup satisfaction before/after wearing masks due to COVID-19 and the moderating effect of mandatory/voluntary goal-oriented attitude toward makeup. The study found that lip makeup(p<.001) was significant variable in makeup satisfaction before COVID-19, and eyebrow makeup(0<.002) was significant after COVID-19. Although moderating effect of mandatory goal-oriented attitude, which works between degree of makeup before/after COVID-19 and makeup satisfaction was not significant, but moderating effect of voluntary goal-oriented attitude appeared to be significant before(p<.000) and after(p<.000) COVID-19. And the degree of makeup after COVID-19 was lower than before(p<.000). If one believe that makeup is for one's own satisfaction, degree of makeup can be significant effect on the makeup satisfaction, but actual behavior has shown that degree of makeup has decreased since wearing masks because of COVID-19. I hope this research will be used as marketing material for beauty and cosmetics industry.
