  • "The project for production of medium classification landcover maps using satellite images" has been completed from 1998 until 2005 in Korea. As the 5th project was finished in 2005, medium classification landcover maps for all areas of South Korea have been produced. The products of project currently is used in lots of fields such as public governments, universities and research institutes for policy application and scientific research. But final results of the project have several problems which is insufficiency of reliability, discordance of classification codes and many others because each project was progressed year by year. In this study, problems of existing production methods about medium classification landcover maps are extracted and solution of problems is offered. Therefore, this study will make it possible to efficiently produce and update medium classification landcover maps.

  • As the first step for the application of seismic landslide hazard maps to domestic cases, two types of hazard maps on Ul-joo from pseudostatic analysis and Newmark sliding block analysis are constructed and comllared. Arcview, the GIS program and the 1:5,000 digital maps of the test-site are used for the construction of hazard maps and tile parameters for the analyses are determined by seismic survey and laboratory tests. The results from the pseudostatic analysis have more conservative values of lower critical slope angles, although the results from the two different analyses have similar tendencies. In detail, with increasing the peak ground acceleration, the difference between the two analyses in the critical slope angle increases, while the difference decreases with increasing the maximum soil depth.

  • Let (2,2,2,2) be ramification indices for the Riemann sphere. It is well known that the regular branched covering map corresponding to this, is the Weierstrass P function. Lattes [7] gives a rational function R(z)= ${\frac{z^4+{\frac{1}{2}}g2^{z}^2+{\frac{1}{16}}g{\frac{2}{2}}$ which is chaotic on ${\bar{C}}$ and is induced by the Weierstrass P function and the linear map L(z) = 2z on complex plane C. It is also known that there exist regular branched covering maps from $T^2$ onto ${\bar{C}}$ if and only if the ramification indices are (2,2,2,2), (2,4,4), (2,3,6) and (3,3,3), by the Riemann-Hurwitz formula. In this paper we will construct regular branched covering maps corresponding to the ramification indices (2,4,4), (2,3,6) and (3,3,3), as well as chaotic maps induced by these regular branched covering maps.

  • In this study, it was tried to experimentally judge the positional accuracy of digital maps, which are being constructed with a vast of investment and national endeavor. Using GPS and Total Station, field surveying to assess the positional accuracy of 1:5,000 digital maps was conducted. According to these results, the digital maps were compared to the real field test. And in order to check the positional accuracy standard of digital maps, theoretical positional accuracy of 1:5,000 digital maps are compared with that from field test data to propose research activities for hereafter positional accuracy standard of digital map.

  • Map update is essential for maintaining reliability of maps. Update could be performed using variety of data sources such as aerial photos, engineering plans, LiDAR data and in-site surveying data. Therefore, map update is essential for maintaining reliability of maps. Update could be performed using variety of data sources such ad aerial photos, engineering plans, LiDAR data and in-site surveying data. Map update requires cost, manpower and time. It is important to inform updated information to users in order to decide purchase the updated maps or not. This paper proposes the way to provide various updated information of maps. Therefore, map users efficiently utilize information from maps.
