Enhanced Variable On-time Control of Critical Conduction Mode Boost Power Factor Correction Converters

  • Critical conduction mode boost power factor correction converters operating at the boundary of continuous conduction mode and discontinuous conduction mode have been widely used for power applications lower than 300W. This paper proposes an enhanced variable on-time control method for the critical conduction mode boost PFC converter to improve the total harmonic distortion characteristic. The inductor current, which varies according to the input voltage, is analyzed in detail and the optimal on-time is obtained to minimize the total harmonic distortion with a digital controller using a TMS320F28335. The switch on-time varies according to the input voltage based on the computed optimal on-time. The performance of the proposed control method is verified by a 100W PFC converter. It is shown that the optimized on-time reduces the total harmonic distortion about 52% (from 10.48% to 5.5%) at 220V when compared to the variable on-time control method.

한국 청소년 여학생의 신체이미지 왜곡 실태와 영향요인 - 제14차 청소년건강행태조사 이용 - (Body Image Distortion and Related Factors among Female Adolescents in Korea - Based on the 14th Korean Youth Health Behavior Survey -)

  • This study was undertaken to examine body image distortion among female adolescents and identify related factors. Raw data from the 14th Korean Youth Health Behavior Survey were used. The proportion of participants exhibiting body image distortion was 39.5%, with the ratio being higher among female students of normal weight as compared to underweight female students. Logistic regression revealed that the risk of having a distorted body image was higher among high school females than in middle school females having lower subjective academic performance and household economic status. In addition, the risk of having a distorted body image was higher for students who drank alcohol when compared to students who did not drink, for the group engaging vigorously in physical activity (exercise) more than three times per week as opposed to the group exercising less than three times per week, and for the group consuming less than one serving of fruit per day as compared to the group consuming more than one serving of fruit per day. Taken together, the results of this study indicate that continuous nutrition education needs to be provided so that adolescents can correctly perceive their body images and form desirable eating habits.

분광 조정과 비등방성 확산에 의한 PAN-Sharpened 영상의 분광 왜곡 완화 (Reduction of Spectral Distortion in PAN-sharpening Using Spectral Adjustment and Anisotropic Diffusion)

  • 본 연구는 주어진 관측 multi-spectral (MS)영상을 panchromatic (PAN) 영상 수준으로 고해상도화 하는 영상융합에서 공간 해상력을 향상시키는 과정에 발생하는 분광 왜곡을 완화시키는 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 관측 MS 영상에 대해 GSA PAN-sharpening을 수행하고 분광 조정 후 비등방성 확산을 실시한다. 분광 조정은 PAN-sharpened 영상이 관측 MS 영상과 일치하는 분광적 특성을 가지도록 하나 구역 오류를 발생시킨다. 분광 조정을 실시 한 후 나타나는 구역 오류는 비등방성 확산에 의해 제거된다. 비등방성 확산은 PAN 영상을 기반으로 하여 국지적으로 계산한 전도 계수를 사용하므로 PAN-sharpened 영상이 PAN의 공간적 특성에 일치하는 결과를 산출한다. 분광 조정 전 초기 PAN-sharpening 방법으로 정량적 평가가 우수하고 계산적으로 효율적인 GSA를 제안한다. 본 연구는 2014년 2월 관측된 $1024{\times}1024$ 크기의 미국 Los Angeles 지역의 Dubaisat-2 위성 자료와 $2048{\times}2048$ 크기의 2002년 3월 경기도 안양 지역에서 관측된 IKONOS 자료를 사용하여 실험 평가를 수행하였다. 제안 방법의 결과는 정량적 품질 평가에서 최선이었거나 최선에 가까운 수준의 결과를 산출 했고 특히 분광 오류를 현저히 감소시킨다.

전화음성의 격리단어인식 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Isolated Word Recognition for Telephone Speech)

  • 본 논문에서는 잡음과 전화선로의 왜곡이 음성인식에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 전처리 과정을 추가하여 이를 개선하는 방법을 제안하였다. 컴퓨터 모의실험은 음소적으로 고르게 분포되어있는 한국어 격리단어 100단어를 각각 10회 발음한 1000개 데이타를 대상으로하고, 화자종속으로 수행하였다. 먼저 잡음에 대한 개선방법으로 spectral subtraction을 제안하였는데, 이것은 매우 간단하면서도 좋은 성능을 보였다. 다음으로 대역폭제한과 전송로왜곡의 영향을 실험하였는데, 대역폭의 제한과 진폭왜곡은 인식율을 크게 떨어뜨렸으나 위상왜곡은 별로 영향이 없었다. 또, 전송로의 영향을 개선하기 위하여 training data를 사용하여 기준패턴을 변화시키는 방법을 제안하였다. 잡음과 전송로의 왜곡이 동시에 있는 경우에 인식율이 7.7~26.4% 밖에 되지 않았는데, 위에서 제안한 방법을 이용하여 76.2~92.3%로 개선되었다.

Design of Off-axis Wide Angle Lens for the Automobile Application

  • Recently various types of driver assistance systems have been used for automobiles. In 2008, the U.S Congress passed a law which required that most cars be equipped with devices to warn objects behind the vehicle. Because of that, market of rear view cameras is expected to rise dramatically. Therefore many suppliers try to provide a wide angle camera for car makers. But a high distortion is caused by the wide angle might result in lower image quality. In order to improve the image quality, normally we use an algorithm to correct a distortion. Though we can improve the distorted image by correction algorithm, we must pay more cost to use it. In this paper, we propose a new optical system reducing a distortion in contrast to a conventional lens without cost. In other words, we can see only an area of interest. That is similar to reducing a field of view. Using a new optical system, we can get a less distorted image. In order to view an area of interest, we introduce an off axis optical system having refractive surfaces and reflective surfaces. In this paper, we describe the results of design and, evaluation of an off axis wide angle compact imaging system. In comparison to conventional wide angle lens, we can get the improvement of MTF, distortion, and lateral color aberrations. And we also can reduce a total cost because we don't need the outer apparatus or bracket to mount on the car.

달리기 시 체간의 골반-척추구조변형이 동적안정성에 미치는 연구 (Kinematic Analysis of Dynamic Stability Toward the Pelvis-spine Distortion during Running)

  • The purposes of this study were to assess dynamic stability toward pelvis-spine column distortion during running and to compare the typical three-dimensional angular kinematics of the trunk motion; cervical, thoracic, lumbar segment spine and the pelvis from the multi-segmental spine model between exercise group and non-exercise group. Subjects were recruited as exercise healthy women on regular basis (group A, n=10) and non-exercise idiopathic scoliosis women (group B, n=10). Data was collected by using a vicon motion capture system (MX-T40, UK). The pelvis, spine segments column and lower limbs analysiaed through the 3D kinematic angular ROM pattern. There were significant differences in the time-space variables, the rotation motion of knee joint in lower limbs and the pelvis variables; obliquity in side bending, inter/outer rotation in twisting during running leg movement. There were significant differences in the spinal column that is lower-lumbar, upper-lumbar, upper-thoracic, mid-upper thoracic, mid-lower thoracic, lower thoracic and cervical spine at inclination, lateral bending and twist rotation between group A and group B (<.05, <.01 and <.001). As a results, group B had more restrictive motion than group A in the spinal column and leg movement behaved like a 'shock absorber". And the number of asymmetry index (AI) showed that group B was much lager unbalance than group A. In conclusion, non-exercise group was known to much more influence the dynamic stability of equilibrium for bilateral balance. These finding suggested that dynamic stability aimed at increasing balance of the trunk ROM must involve methods and strategies intended to reduce left/right asymmetry and the exercise injury.

RELATION BETWEEN FRACTAL MEASURES AND CANTOR MEASURES

  • We investigate the relation between Hausdorff(packing) measure and lower(packing) Cantor measure on a deranged Cantor set. If the infimum of some distortion of contraction ratios is positive, then Hausdorff(packing) measure and lower(packing) Cantor measure of a deranged Cantor set are equivalent except for some singular behavior for packing measure case. It is a generalization of already known result on the perturbed Cantor set.

Performance Analysis of a Novel Reduced Switch Cascaded Multilevel Inverter

  • Multilevel inverters have been widely used for high-voltage and high-power applications. Their performance is greatly superior to that of conventional two-level inverters due to their reduced total harmonic distortion (THD), lower switch ratings, lower electromagnetic interference, and higher dc link voltages. However, they have some disadvantages such as an increased number of components, a complex pulse width modulation control method, and a voltage-balancing problem. In this paper, a novel nine-level reduced switch cascaded multilevel inverter based on a multilevel DC link (MLDCL) inverter topology with reduced switching components is proposed to improve the multilevel inverter performance by compensating the above mentioned disadvantages. This topology requires fewer components when compared to diode clamped, flying capacitor and cascaded inverters and it requires fewer carrier signals and gate drives. Therefore, the overall cost and circuit complexity are greatly reduced. This paper presents modulation methods by a novel reference and multicarrier based PWM schemes for reduced switch cascaded multilevel inverters (RSCMLI). It also compares the performance of the proposed scheme with that of conventional cascaded multilevel inverters (CCMLI). Simulation results from MATLAB/SIMULINK are presented to verify the performance of the nine-level RSCMLI. Finally, a prototype of the nine-level RSCMLI topology is built and tested to show the performance of the inverter through experimental results.

A Three-Phase High Frequency Semi-Controlled Battery Charging Power Converter for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

  • This paper presents a novel analysis, design, and implementation of a battery charging three-phase high frequency semi-controlled power converter feasible for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The main advantages of the proposed topology include high efficiency; due to lower power losses and reduced number of switching elements, high output power density realization, and reduced passive component ratings proportionally to the frequency. Additional advantages also include grid economic utilization by insuring unity power factor operation under different possible conditions and robustness since short-circuit through a leg is not possible. A high but acceptable total harmonic distortion of the generator currents is introduced in the proposed topology which can be viewed as a minor disadvantage when compared to traditional boost rectifiers. A hysteresis control algorithm is proposed to achieve lower current harmonic distortion for the rectifier operation. The rectifier topology concept, the principle of operation, and control scheme are presented. Additionally, a dc-dc converter is also employed in the rectifier-battery connection. Test results on 50-kHz power converter system are presented and discussed to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed topology for PHEV applications.

잡음 추정 알고리즘을 이용한 신뢰성 있는 코드벡터 조합의 선정 방법 (A Selection Method of Reliable Codevectors using Noise Estimation Algorithm)

  • 배경잡음에 강인한 음성인식을 위한 전처리기로써 음성향상 기법이 요구되고 있다. 코드북 기반의 음성향상 기법은 기존 잡음 추정 알고리즘들과 비교하여 nonstationary 배경잡음 환경에 강인하다는 장점이 있다. 하지만 코드북 정보에 의존적이기 때문에 입력신호와 상관성이 떨어지는 코드벡터의 조합을 사용할 경우 성능이 급격히 떨어진다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 학습된 음성과 잡음 코드벡터를 조합하는 과정에서 입력신호와 상관성이 떨어지는 코드벡터의 조합을 제거함으로써, Log-Spectral Distortion (LSD)과 Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) 관점에서 기존 코드북 기반 알고리즘의 성능을 향상시켰다.
