  • We present the characteristics of microwave and mechanical behavior for the electrostatically actuated z-shaped laterally driven micriomachined CPW SPST(Single Pole Single Throw) Switch, which is for the application of the microwave communication systems. In this paper, we have aimed to maintain advantages. such as low insertion loss and low power consumption that the previously developed RF MEMS Switch has and minimize also stiction problem. enhance the microwave characteristics by etching of substrate beneath the switch, realize the pull-in voltage of below 30V. The optimized design parameters of the MEMS Switch can be selected by the analysis of the mechanical behavior and the use of ANSYS simulation method.

심매설 접지전극에 대한 접지임피던스의 주파수특성 (Frequency Characteristics of Grounding Impedances of the Deeply-driven Ground Rods)

  • Grounding impedance depends on the frequency of current flowing into a grounding system. Especially, the lightning gives a broad frequency spectrum from low frequency up to 1 MHz. So the grounding impedance related to high frequency current like lightning should be measured with high frequency source. In this paper, we described the grounding impedances of deeply-driven ground rods of 10 $\sim$ 48 m long with respect to the frequency of injected currents. For the experiments, we used the wideband power amplifier which can produce sinusoidal voltages with the frequency ranges of DC $\sim$ 250 MHz. As a result, the longer the ground rod is, the lower the ground resistance is. However the grounding impedance of deeply-driven ground rod in the range of higher frequency is significantly increased. As a consequence, it is important to evaluate the high frequency performance of grounding systems for lightning protection.

스마트그리드를 위한 초고속 전력선통신기술 연구 (Study on Very High-Rate Power Line Communications for Smart Grid)

  • In this paper, we study on the reliability of Very High-rate Power Line Communication (VH-PLC) for Smart Grid, so that the resultant data rate is over 400Mbps at a physical layer. Firstly, reviewing the research trend of the PLC, we discuss the required techniques for supporting the Smart Grid. Considering a pre-specification with the value of several parameters, we investigate a multi-carrier modulation technique to overcome limitations of higher rate transmission under power line channel environments. Then, we propose a system specification of the VH-PLC in the sense of enhancing two features. One is resolving the problem of the co-existence of the deployed high-speed PLC according to the published standardization of KS X 4600-1 in Korea. The other is getting better performance on the grid adopting the diverse element techniques, such as multi-carrier modulation, a subcarrier utilization mode, a variable rate LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) code, and a time and frequency diversity technique. Further, a simulation tool, composed of an Event-Driven simulator and a Time-Driven simulator, is developed for the purpose of verifying the system performance and continuously cross-checking the test bench signal of the proposed VH-PLC system.

  • 본 논문에서는, 구조를 간략히 한 3중 조절형의 DDFS 구동PLL 주파수 합성기를 이용하여 주파수 합성 조절법에 의한 광대역 무선통신시스템으로의 응용을 연구하였다. 제안된 DDFS 구동PLL주파수 합성기는 DDFS에서 위상누적기만을 이용하는 매우 단순화된 구조이므로, 기존 DDFS 구동PLL 주파수 합성기의 경우보다 스위칭 속도가 높으며, 전력소모를 개선시킨다. 그리고 이 제안된 3중 조절형 주파수 합성기는 3가지 주파수 조절 파라미터를 이용하여 넓은 대역의 주파수 범위의 동작이 가능하므로, 광대역 저전력 고속 특성을 갖는 응용에 적합하다. 주파수 조절 파라미터 할당 방법과 그의 결과를 제시하였으며, CSM, IMT-2000, Bluetooth 틴 PCS 시스템, 등 여러 주파수 대역에 응용하는 경우를 보였다.

  • This paper presents a novel current driving method for the synchronous rectifier (SR) in a Flyback topology. The proposed current driven synchronous rectifier features low Power loss, good performance and the gate voltage of FET in the synchronous rectifier is easily controlled by zener voltage. The proposed SR driving method is implemented in a 200W Flyback converter with 400Vdc input and achieved excellent performance at full load.

Design Considerations for Low Voltage Claw Pole Type Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) Systems

  • Due to the need for improved fuel consumption and the trend towards increasing the electrical content in automobiles, integrated starter generator (ISG) systems are being considered by the automotive industry. In this paper, in order to change the conventional generator of a vehicle, a belt driven integrated starter generator is considered. The overall ISG system, the design considerations for the claw pole type AC electric machine and a low voltage very high current power stage implementation are discussed. Test data on the low voltage claw pole type machine is presented, and a large current voltage source DC/AC inverter suitable for low voltage integrated starter generator operation is also presented. A metal based PCB (Printed Circuit Board) power unit to attach the 4-parallel MOS-FETs is used to achieve extremely high current capability. Furthermore, issues related to the torque assistance during vehicle acceleration and the generation/regeneration characteristics are discussed. A prototype with the capability of up to 1000 A and 27 V is designed and built to validate the kilo-amp inverter.

  • Power MOSFET operate voltage-driven devices, design to control the large power switching device for power supply, converter, motor control, etc. We have analyzed trench process, field limit ring process for fabrication of unified trench gate power MOSFET. And we have analyzed electrical characteristics of fabricated unified trench gate power MOSFET. The optimal trench process was based on SF6. After we carried out SEM measurement, we obtained superior trench gate and field limit ring process. And we compared electrical characteristics of planar and trench gate unified power MOSFET after completing device fabrication. As a result, the both of them was obtained 500 V breakdown voltage. However trench gate unified power MOSFET was shown improved Vth and on state voltage drop characteristics than planar gate unified power MOSFET.

  • The hearing aids specific operational amplifier described in this paper is a single-supply, low voltage CMOS amplifier. It works on 1.3V single-supply and gets a gain of 82dB. The 0.18${\mu}m$ CMOS process was chosen to reduce the driven voltage as well as the power dissipation.

  • Modern power systems driven by high-power converters have become inevitable in view of the ever increasing demand for electric power. The total power loss can be reduced by limiting the switching losses in such power converters; increased power efficiency can thus be achieved. A reduced switching frequency that is less than a few hundreds of hertz is applied to power converters that produce output waveforms with high distortion. Selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) is an optimized low switching frequency pulse width modulation method that is based on offline estimation. This method can pre-program the harmonic profile of the output waveform over a range of modulation indices to eliminate low-order harmonics. In this paper, a SHEPWM scheme for three-phase three-leg neutral point clamped inverter is proposed. Aside from eliminating the selected harmonics, the DC capacitor voltages at the DC bus are also balanced because of the symmetrical pulse pattern over a quarter cycle of the period. The technique utilized in the estimation of switching angles involves the firefly algorithm (FA). Compared with other techniques, FA is more robust and entails less computation time. Simulation in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and experimental verification in the very large scale integration platform with Spartan 6A DSP are performed to prove the validity of the proposed technique.
