Study of the Distribution Properties and LRFD Code Conversion in Japanese Larch

  • This study was performed to develop an LRFD (Load Resistance Factored Design) Code for Domestic Larch. To accomplish his, we evaluated bending, compression, tension and shear strength. The results of the strength evaluation were utilized to verify the distribution and code conversion. For bending, tension and compressive strength, the Weibull distribution was well-fitted, but for shear strength we observed a normal distribution. For evaluating the bending and compressive strength, a full-sized specimen was used. A small clear specimen was used to test tension and shear strength. Compressive strength in particular was found to be affected by tight knots, although there was little difference between grades. In the code conversion, the design value of the LRFD was larger than the existing allowable stress value in the Korean Building Code. However, the allowable stress in this study was about two times higher than the value listed in the Korean Building Code. This result induced the difference between the soft and hard conversions. For greater reliability, the accumulation of additional data is necessary and further studies should be performed

  • In designing cut and cover tunnels, load combination applied Korea seismic design code of urban transit and its sections applied Korea concrete code 2003. However, by revision of Korea concrete code in 2007, engineers have been experiencing difficulties in their work. In this study, application of Korea concrete code 2007 for designing is reviewed by comparing load combination of related codes and member force.

  • This paper suggests a method for developing computer code that can solve inverse heat conduction problem, The concept of the object-oriented development is employed to implement the computer code in an efficient and flexible fashion. The software design is conducted based on the unified modeling language. Furthermore, this paper also explains how to implement the deliverable computer code using the existing software development tools.

  • The standardization of the urban transit maintenance system consists of BOM System, maintenance parts code system, and accident/trouble code system standardization. This paper is described only the result of BOM System, maintenance parts code system, and accident/trouble code system standardization. The results of standardization are using urban transit maintenance IT system and apply Expert System, RAMS System, and DATABASE contents of various kinds.

  • This paper presents a code generation method and an effective handling algorithm of ingeger constant multiplication for RISC machines in compiler design. As RISC Architectures usually use faster and more simply formed instructions than CISC's and most RISC processors do not have an integer multiplication instruction, it is required an effective algorithm to process integer multiplication. For the proposed code generator, Portable C Compiler(PCC) is redesigned to be suitable for an RISC machine, and composed an addition chain is built up to allow fast execution of constant multiplication, a part of integer one whicch appears very frequency in code generation phase.

Improved Blind Multipath Estimation for Long Code DS-CDMA

  • This paper proposes a blind channel estimation scheme for long code direct sequence code division multiple access (DS­CDMA) systems with multipath fading channels. This scheme combines the advantages of Toeplitz displacement and correlation matching methods to achieve improved performance. The basic idea is to remove the effects of noise and interferences with Toeplitz displacement operation and then estimate the multi path channel parameters with the correlation matching method. Simulation results are presented to show that the proposed scheme provides better MSE performance and robustness against the near-far problem.

  • A new line code design technique based on the BUDA(Binary Unit DSV and ASV) concept is introduced. The new line code called MB34 and designed by this new technique is of the minimum bandwidth, dc-free, and runlength limited. To confirm the performance of the new code, its power spectrum and eye pattern are obtained, wherein spectral nulls at dc(f=0) and Nyguist frequency (f=1/2Ts) are clearly identified. It is also discussed how the transmission errors can be detected by monitoring the DSV, the ASV, and the runlength.

  • With the MOS device scailing down, the substrate concentration must increase in order to avoid punchthrough leakage current due to the DIBL(Drain Induced Barrier Lowering) effect. However the enhancement of the substrate concentration increases source, drain juntion capacitances and substrate current due to hot elelctron, degrading the speed characteristics and reliability of the MOS devices. In this paper, a new device, called CODE(Channel Only Dopant Enhancement) MOS, an its fabrication are proposed. By comparing the fabricated CODE MOSFET with the conventional device, the improvements on DIBL, substrate current and source, drain juntion capacitances are realized.

  • This paper reports on the single mode fiber coupling efficiency. There is difference between simulation by CODE-V and theoretical result, we observed CEO which is taken by experiment in lab and found out that CEO taken by CODE-V was closer to real experiment result then theoretical result.

  • In this paper, the real-time compressed code generation method for the biological signal data, especially for the Electrocardiogram, is studied. For this purpose, variable length code is introduced. And from this code, we get a exactly the same reconstructed signal data as the original. Experimental results show that this program reduces the data rate by a factor of about 8, and codes the result in a form convenient for analysis.
