An adaptive estimator of the efficient score function for censored and truncated regression models is developed by using $\beta$-splines to estimate the score function and a relatively simple cross validation method to determine the number of knots.

For any alternating knot, it is known that the double branched cover of the 3-sphere branched over the knot is an L-space. We show that the three-fold cyclic branched cover is also an L-space for any genus one alternating knot.

In surface compression applications, one of the main issues is how to efficiently store and calculate the computer representation of certain surfaces. This leads us to consider a nonlinear approximation by box splines with free knots since, for instance, the nonlinear method based on wavelet decomposition gives efficient compression and recovery algorithms for such surfaces (cf. [12]).

The interpolation of scattered data with radial basis functions is knwon for its good fitting. But if data get large, the coefficient matrix becomes almost singular. We introduce different knots and nodes to improve condition number of coefficient matrix. The singulaity of new coefficient matrix is investigated here.

We show that roots of log-concave Alexander knot polynomials are dense in C. This in particular implies that the log-concavity and Hoste's conjecture on the Alexander polynomial of alternating knots are (essentially) independent.

In this paper we give a relationship among the Minkowski units, for all odd prime number including $\infty$, of 2-periodic knot is $S^3$, its factor knot, and the 2-component link consisting of the factor knot and the set of fixed points of the periodic action.

본 연구에서는 연속형 확률밀도함수의 그래프를 표현하기 위한 하나의 방법으로 보간점을 이용하는 문제에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 최적화 기법을 이용하여 보간점의 수와 위치를 선택하는 알고리즘을 제안하고, 제안한 방법을 이용하여 확률밀도함수의 그래프를 구현한다.

In [4], we gave a condition for a pair of unknotting tunnels of a non-trivial tunnel number one link to give a genus three Heegaard splitting of the link complement. In this paper we prove the corresponding result for tunnel number one knots.

Manturov inroduced the parity bracket polynomial by using a parity of virtual knots, which is an extension of Jones-Kauffman polynomial. We extend Manturov's result to virtual links, so that we obtain the parity bracket polynomial for virtual links and give some examples.

We show that the optimistic limits of the colored Jones polynomials of the hyperbolic knots coincide with the optimistic limits of the Kashaev invariants modulo $4{\pi}^2$.
