  • The aim of this research paper is to establish generalizations of classical Dixon's theorem for the series $_3F_2$, a result due to Bailey involving product of generalized hypergeometric series and certain very interesting summations due to Ramanujan. The results are derived with the help of generalized Kummer's summation theorem for the series $_2F_1$ obtained earlier by Lavoie, Grondin, and Rathie.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present closed integral form expressions for the Mathieu-type a-series and its associated alternating version whose terms contain a (p, q)-extended Gauss' hypergeometric function. Certain upper bounds for the two series are also given.

  • In the present paper we introduce the lower autocentral series of autocommutator subgroups of a given group. Following our previous work on the subject in 2009, it is shown that every finite abelian group is isomorphic with $n^{th}$-term of the lower autocentral series of some finite abelian group.

  • This paper approximates to a kernel density estimate by a truncated series of expansion involving Hermite polynomials, since this could ease the computing burden involved in the kernel-based density estimation. However, this truncated series may give a multimodal estimate when we are estiamting unimodal density. In this paper we will show a way to insure the truncated series to be positive and unimodal so that the approximation to a kernel density estimator would be maeningful.

  • Vegetation cover classification is examined based on a time series NOAA/AVHRR data. Time series data analysis methods including Fourier transform, Auto-Regressive (AR) model and temporal signature similarity matching are developed to extract phenological features of vegetation from a time series NDVI data from NOAA/AVHRR and to classify vegetation types. In the Fourier transform method, typical three spectral components expressing the phenological features of vegetation are selected for classification, and also in the AR model method AR coefficients are selected. In the temporal signature similarity matching method a new index evaluating the similarity of temporal pattern of the NDVI is introduced for classification.

  • Let {Xn; $n{\succeq}1$} be a field of martingale differences taking values in a p-uniformly smooth Banach space. The paper provides conditions under which the series ${\sum}_{i{\preceq}n}\;Xi$ converges almost surely and the tail series {$Tn={\sum}_{i{\gg}n}\;X_i;n{\succeq}1$} satisfies $sup_{k{\succeq}n}{\parallel}T_k{\parallel}=\mathcal{O}p(b_n)$ and ${\frac{sup_{k{\succeq}n}{\parallel}T_k{\parallel}}{B_n}}{\rightarrow\limits^p}0$ for given fields of positive numbers {bn} and {Bn}. This result generalizes results of A. Rosalsky, J. Rosenblatt [7], [8] and S. H. Sung, A. I. Volodin [11].

Studies of the soil characteristice and NPK fertilizer response of local valley paddy soils in rolling lands(Jisan and Yongji series) (저구릉(低丘陵) 곡간지(谷間地) 답토양(沓土壤)(지산통(芝山統)과 용지통(龍池統))의 특성(特性)과 시비반응(施肥反應)에 관(關)한 연구)

  • Following results are obtained by re-evaluating N. P. K. and soil improvement trials conducted from 1964 to 1969 in valley paddy soils in rolling lands (Jisan-series, imperfectly drained and Yongji-series, moderately well drained). 1. Average grain yield of rice in no fertilizer plots and the highest yield plots for Yongji-series (31 experiments) were 319 and 507kg/10a respectively, and that of Jisan-series (15 experiments) were 396 and 567kg/10a respectively. The fertility difference between two series may have been a result of the cultivation history. Jisan-series is a mature soil which has a long cultivation history and Yongji-series is sub-mature soil 2. Soil chemical characteristics for Jisan-series are charaterized by 12.8meq/100g in CEC, 6.5meq/100g in exchangeable Ca, 3.9% in OM, and 64 ppm in available $P_2O_5$ For Yongji-series they were 10.4meq/100g in CEC, 4.7meq/100g in exchangeable Ca, 3.2% in OM and 103ppm in available $P_2O_5$. 3. Deep plowing and application of organic matter and lime are expected to be effective in increasing fertility level of soils of Yongji-series. The same will be effective in some soils of Jisan series where the fertility level is low. 4. Jisan-series shows high response to nitrogen, while Yongji series shows sharp decrease in rice yield at the high levels of nitrogen. Both series, however, showed high response to nitrogen only when the OM level was higher than 3%. 5. The optimum level of nitrogen was 8~9kg for Jisan-series, and 10~11kg/10a for Yongji-series. The yield increase per kg of applied nitrogen was 12kg for Jisan-series and 13kg for Yongji series. 6. The optimum level of phosphorus at the optimum level of nitrogen was 6kg/10a for Yongji-series and 3kg/10a for Jisan-series. The optimum level of phosphorus, however, was different depending upon the nitrogen level. It was assumed that Yongji-series required more fertilizer (available $P_2O_5$ was 110ppm) than Jisan-series (available $P_2O_5$ was 64ppm) because the availability of P was higher in Jisan-series than Yongji-series due to the severe reduction of Jisan-series. 7. The response of potassium was also depending upon the nitrogen level. In Yongji-series the potassium response at 8kg/10a nitrogen level decreased with increasing levels of potassium, but the higher level of introgen, potassium response was also higher. In Jisan-series potassium response was recognized at all nitrogen levels. The optimum level of potassium at the optimum level of nitrogen was 8kg/10a in both serieses. 8. The reasonable ratio of NPK fertilizer seems to be 1:0.6:0.6:for Yongji-series and 1:0.4:1 for Jisan-series as N:$P_2O_5$:K.

  • The series and parallel connection is essential for increasing power ratings of resistive type for fault current limiters. To increase voltage class, components are connected in series and to increase current level to the nominal value, they are connected in parallel. There are two ways to connect components in series and parallel. First, connected in series and then the module connects to the parallel. Second, connected in parallel and the module connects to the series. We have studied for the two ways. In this paper, we particularly investigated way to connect components in parallel first This way has the advantage of inducing effective simultaneous quench without any other devices, for example, the thing which is inducing magnetic field to the limiting and shunt resistors. And also we studied for the endurance of component which is patterned to the bi-spiral for prospective fault current. It is very important to understand this, because SFCL will use as the only device to decrease burden of circuit breaker. As experimental results, limiting component patterned to bi-spiral endures fault current up to 30kA and it works well, in parallel to series connection,

  • This paper proposes a series arc fault detection algorithm which incorporates peak voltage and harmonic current detectors for single-phase boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifiers. The series arc fault model is also proposed to analyze the phenomenon of the arc fault and detection algorithm. For arc detection, the virtual dq transformation is utilized to detect the peak input voltage. In addition, multiple combinations of low- and high-pass filters are applied to extract the specific harmonic components which show the characteristics of the series arc fault conditions. The proposed model and the arc detection method are experimentally verified through a boost PFC rectifier prototype operating under the grid-tied condition with an artificial arc generator manufactured under the guidelines for the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1699 standard.
