Methods: The data were collected from 233 nurses by means of self-reported questionnaires on August 23th to September 8th, 2017. Results: The model explained 49.7% of the total variance in job embeddedness scores. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that hospital nurses that had higher perceived nurse practice environment, higher organizational justice, and were older were more likely to have higher job embeddedness scores. Conclusion: To enhance nurses' job embeddedness, hospital and nurse leaders should improve nurse practice environment, particularly in relation to staffing and resource adequacy and collegial nurse-physician relations. Additionally, the nurse leaders can facilitate nurses' job embeddedness by creating and maintaining an organizational culture of fairness and justice.

Data was collected from July 1 to July 31, 2019 using a structured questionnaire, enrolling 198 nurses working at three general hospitals located in 2 metropolitan cities. Data were analyzed by applying t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Our results indicate that bad customer behavior significantly correlates with job burnout (r=0.24, p=<0.001), positive psychological capital (r=-0.37, p=<0.001), and job embeddedness (r=-0.48, p=<0.001). Moreover, job burnout had a positive impact on psychological capital (r=-0.44, p=<0.001) and job embeddedness (r=-0.31, p=<0.001), whereas positive psychological capital impacted job embeddedness (r=0.49, p=<0.001). Multiple regression analysis revealed that bad customer behavior (β=-0.34, p<0.001), positive psychological capital (β=0.32, p=0.004), and position (β=-0.19, p=0.001) had maximum influence (38%) on the level of job embeddedness experienced by nurses. Taken together, results of this study indicate that in order to increase the level of job embeddedness of nurses, it is necessary to develop strategies that eradicate and manage bad customer behavior, and also develop programs that strengthen and develop positive psychological capital.

  • Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) represent quite a large proportion of the Information Technology (IT) industry as a whole in terms of the sales revenue and the number of employees. And their role has been constantly growing. However, they have suffered from the shortage and turnover of skilled IT personnel. Under the background, this study focuses on how to effectively retain IT personnel in SMEs. Job embeddedness is the newly emerging concept in the turnover research. It is known that job embeddedness predicts turnover better than the traditional attitude variables such as job satisfaction and it can be developed by human resource practices. So, this study empirically investigates the relationship among human resource practices, job embeddedness and turnover intention. The survey results of 193 IT personnel reveal that compensation, technical competency development, recognition and work-life balance practice have statistically significant effects on job embeddedness, and that job embeddedness has a negative influence on turnover intention of IT personnel. Based on these results, the implications for managing turnover issues in IT SMEs are suggested.
