An Economic Estimation of Tourism Effects by Travel Cost Method -Application for Daeho Rural Tourism & Leisure Complex- (여행비용접근법(TCM)에 의한 관광효과 추정 - 대호농어촌관광휴양단지를 중심으로 -)

  • Since 1989, 9 major complex have been invested with government funds, for the purpose of developing agricultural tourism to increase agricultural income and job opportunity, as well as providing urban population leisure opportunity. However, systematic and comprehensive approaches were rarely done in analyzing its economic impacts. This study, therefore, focuses on analyzing tourism effect and its economic value and implication for a representative rural tourism site,"Daeho rural tourism complex". To analyze travel pattern, expenditure pattern, and degree of satisfaction from travel to Daeho complex, Travel Cost Method(TCM) was employed based on survey method. Results from linear model with statistical significance implies that tourism benefit for each visitor is 28,373 won and total annual benefit for the Daeho site is 7 billion won. Considering annual benefit stream, the present value of total benefits are 132.9 billion won and 70 billion won at 5% and 10% of discounting rate, respectively. Using the values of benefit estimated from this study and investment cost, B/C ratio, IRR, and NPV were calculated to be 1.01, 1.67 billion won, and 5.19% at 5% of discounting rate. These results could be directly compared with the previous analyses.

Internationalization Strategy of the Fisheries - Processing Firms of Korea (우리나라 수산물가공기업의 국제화전략)

  • The objectives of the study are to look into the fisheries processing industry, analyze problems the industry has, and develop strategies for the industry to take care of the problems. The study was performed in two different dimensions : industry level and firm level. Nevertheless, the study focused on the following main problem areas raw material, production, technology development, internationalization, and managerial performance. The secondary data were utilized to analyze problems at the industry level, For analyzing the firm level situation, an empirical study by using a mail survey with a questionnaire was accomplished. The main problems found were as follows : First, difficulty in procuring raw material was the most serious and main problem. It was caused, externally, by the announcement of 200 nautical miles by most of fishery abundant countries and, internally, by drying fishery resources in the nation's coastal areas ; Second, the rate of fishery processing has been continuously increased and the degree of the processing has also been sophisticated, which implies the pattern of demand for the fishery has been changing widely and deeply. The industry, however, seemed to be unable to meet the consumers' satisfaction ; Third, with the importance of technology for ensuring the changing demands in the fishery processing industry, there has been little effort in research and development both at industry level and at the firm level ; Next, the industry has mainly involved in exporting in association with internationalization. Not to mention about foreign direct investment, technology transfer was not active ; Finaliy, most of firms were densely located in a few areas. The managerical performance in terms of main financial ratios still needs to be improved. Thus, strategies, which would take care of the repective problems, were developed. At industry level, the strategies were developed by reasoning mostly based on the findings from the literature survey. A scheme for internationalization of the firms was suggested. This was made by extracting the factors which would differentiate the firms' internationalization stages. In order to achieve this analysis, discriminant approach was employed. Despite the utility of the findings, it was mostly emphasized that harmonious efforts among government, the industry supporting institutions such as banks, and firms are needed for the successful operation of the strategies. Also, a list of areas for further study was provided especially in relation to the validity threatening parts of the study.

  • The definition of cycle time is the time from the wafer start to the wafer output. It usually takes one or two months to get the product since customer decides to produce it. The cycle time is a critical factor for customer satisfaction because it represents the response time to the market. Long cycle time reflects the ineffective investment for the capital. The cycle time is very important for foundry because long cycle time will cause customer unsatisfied and the order loss. Consequently, all of the foundries put lots of human source in the cycle time improvement. Usually, we make decisions based on the experience in the cycle time management. We have no mechanism or theory for cycle time management. We do work-in-process (WIP) management based on turn rate and standard WIP (STD WIP) set by experiences. But the experience didn't mean the optimal solution, when the situation changed, the cycle time or the standard WIP will also be changed. The experience will not always be applicable. If we only have the experience and no mechanism, management will not be work out. After interview several foundry fab managers, all of the fab can't reflect the situation. That is, all of them will have an impact period after product mix or utilization varied. In this study, we want to develop a formula for standard WIP and use statistical process control (SPC) concept to set WIP upper/lower limit level. When WIP exceed the limit level, it will trigger action plans to compensate WIP Profile. If WIP Profile balances, we don't need too much WIP. So WIP level could be reduced and cycle time also could be reduced.

  • The goal of the company and profit maximization can be achieved by creating revenue or reducing costs. What can be done by the effort of the firm itself is possible through cost-reduction rather than through revenue-creation. Under this economic situation, one of the best way for cost-reduction is to reduce cost of logistics. But logistics costs of a firm is continually increased because of the various customer-satisfaction, competition. This study considers that logistics cost management system be able to apply business practice through to used only a merit of CVP(Cost - Volume Profit) analysis method for effective decision making. To conclude, this study depicts that logistics cost management according to used a merit of CVP analysis method can provide information useful for making strategy of logistics. In short, It is reduce to more costs of logistics investment than are necessary. and, I will expect a man who charge logistics to improvement, adaptation, and application.

  • The online performance market is increasing due to recent pandemic events. However, due to the short introduction time of domestic online performances, there is a lack of related prior studies or success stories. In addition, most of these projects are short-lived projects or poor profits, so it is necessary to study how to activate them. The Sac on Screen project, which has been in progress since 10 years ago, has its own imaging experience, and the screening works and screening venues are also diverse, so it is an object of study. In addition, since annual satisfaction surveys are conducted, the business was evaluated based on the voice of customers from the data of the past three years. Based on the analyzed results, a free and paid version of the business model canvas was drawn through a group of experts. As a result of this synthesis, the following major implications were drawn. First, expanding research on online performances, second, needing a sense of responsibility for quality management of content, third, increasing diversity in content selection, and fourth, enhancing the liveliness of online performances, Fifth, efforts are needed to attract private investment and develop value-added products.

Service Quality Management Based on Quality of Experience (체감품질을 고려한 서비스 품질의 관리)

  • This study provides a framework to assess network design under the regime of QoE (Quality of Experience). Our approach is expected to reveal the necessity of developing the QoE measures and applying this notion to network design, particularly in the mobile environment. Furthermore, our model shows the ample potential that both users and network providers are able to attain a win-win case by shifting the focus on network design and service operations from QoS (Quality of Service) to QoE. Since the former considers only relevant technological specifications, it may fail in capturing critical factors surrounding users, such as a context where the corresponding user is working on. For example, according to one study [13], the bit-rate, a widely employed QoS measure, shows inferior performance in provisioning network resources to the MOS (Mean Opinion Score), a representative QoE measure. Our framework develops the idea and construct a prototype to systematically assess network design and operations in terms of QoE. The proposed prototype aims at achieving a higher level of efficiency without severely deteriorating users' satisfaction level. We also provide some simulation results which support our idea. That is, reducing the chance of over-provisioning on the basis of the QoE paradigm results in a great flexibility. It may give price cut for users or postponement of network investment for providers or both. Our simulation results also seem robust irrespective of the forms of the QoS-QoE relationship.

  • As country try expand R&D investment and enhance its efficiency to improve the national competitiveness, research is needed to conduct qualitative enhancement and derive progressive future strategy in relation to the academic information distribution project in scientific technology field. In this study, BSC-based performance indicators were applied to an institute that is the representative of domestic academic information distribution institutes in the field of scientific technology to evaluate project performance, and then to analyze portfolio of using such evaluation results. As for the items of evaluation for the performance indicators of academic information distribution project in the scientific technology field, 12 items that includes information resource quality, information service quality, user satisfaction and economically useful value of academic information from four(4) viewpoints such as information resource, information service, user and economic viewpoints. In the portfolio analysis, it was conducted by performance indicators and by elements of the individual performance indicators as well. Based on the results of performance evaluation and portfolio analysis, the improvement method by viewpoints on academic information distribution project of an institute was suggested.

The Effective Security Management Scheme against the loss in Hypermarket (대형 할인매장의 안전관리 방안에 관한 고찰)

  • We, in Korea, have over two hundred hypermarkets and the number is continuously increasing. We drop into a hypermarket for merchandise, which is an integral part of our life style. So, we should consider safety for employees as well as customers because hundreds of thousands of people use the hypermarket every day. In addition to this consideration, the government should also be a political support relating to accidents that occur in the hypermarket because security and safety matters are important to all of us. But even now, Our security conditions do not match our ideal goal and we take countermeasures after accident or loss. This is a result of not having a security management expert coupled with a chief executive officer that has no idea about security awareness and loss prevention. In addition, we do not have specific laws to address these matters. We also lack reasonable ideas to prevent accident and loss. Now is the right time to revamp the laws and ordinances to improve the quality of civilian life. Prevention of accidents is a needed investment for all security personnel. The best solution for businesses is prevention of accidents. This will increase profits and cost-effectiveness as well as increase customer satisfaction. The company should form a security management department for comprehensive protection of assets. The goal of security management employees should be productive and effective security management. Every employee should have responsibility in mind to prevent accidents in his or her work. In addition, The company should have a systematic organization in place and regular training sessions. The most effective security management comes from cooperation of all members. In the 21st century, we pursue a high standard of living which is a result of our cooperation against any accident and loss. Sennewald says The value of security is better measure by what does not happen rather than what does.

Effect of Passion to Motivation on Major Students for Security Martial Arts (경호무도 전공생의 동기가 열정에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of passion on major students for security martial arts. Participants were selected 393 undergraduate students who study security martial arts. Sampling was used by purposive sample method. Measurements were used with multi-dimensional passion and motivation scales. Statistic was executed descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, Pearson's correlation and multiple linear regression. The results of this study were as follows: First, motivation of student for security martial arts has influencing relationship with harmonious passion. Second, motivation has influencing relationship with obsessive passion. Third, motivation has influencing relationship with sense of unity. Forth, motivation has influencing relationship with preference of passion. Fifth, motivation has influencing relationship with value of passion. Sixth, motivation has influencing relationship with investment of passion. That is, internal motivation such as giving value and inner satisfaction gives positive effect to passion above mentioned factors but a motivation gives negative effect to passion.

Evaluation of Patient Care, Education, and Research as Indicators of University Hospital Performance (일개 국립대학병원의 진료.교육.연구 기능에 대한 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the environments of patient care, education, and research as indicators of university hospital performance. The objective data for this study were collected by secondary data. The subjective data were collected by a total of 523 questionnaire survey interviews conducted in C university hospital, of which 123 were students, interns, or residents, 76 were professors, and the remaining 324 were patients. The major statistical methods used for the analysis were t-test and ANOVA. We found that the environment of patient care is better than the environment of education and research in C university hospital. While the concern for patient care of C university hospital was about 60%, the equivalent figures for education and research were both 20%. And the patients' satisfaction level was higher than the others. The environment of education and research was found to be deficient in some aspects, especially in such areas as facilities, equipment, and investment. In particular for professors the time for research was very limited because of the demands of patient care. These findings clearly demonstrate that university hospitals need to pay greater attention to the areas of education and research, as well as to patient care. This article concludes with a discussion and summary and presents issues in need of further study.
