  • In this article, we establish relations between the sectional curvature function K and the shape operator, and also relationship between the k-Ricci curvature and the shape operator for slant submanifolds in generalized complex space forms with arbitrary codimension.

  • In this paper, the eigenstructure of a class of linear time varying systems, termed as linear quasi-time invariant(LQTI) systems, is investigated. A system composed of dynamic devices such as linear time varying capacitors and resistors can be an example of the class. To effectively describe and analyze the LQTI systems, a generalized differential operator G is introduced. Then the dynamic systems described by the operator G are studied in terms of eigenvalue, frequency characteristics, stability and an extended convolution. Some basic attributes of the operator G are compared with those of the differential operator D. Also the corresponding generalized Laplace transform pair is defined and relevant properties are derived for frequency domain analysis of the systems under consideration. As an application example, a LQTI circuit is examined by using the concept of eigenstructure of LQTI system. The LQTI filter processes the sinusoidal signals modulated by some functions.

  • A continuous linear operator $T\;:\;X{\rightarrow}X$ is called hypercyclic if there exists an $x\;{\in}\;X$ such that the orbit ${T^nx}_{n{\geq}0}$ is dense. We consider the problem: given an operator $T\;:\;X{\rightarrow}X$, hypercyclic or not, is the restriction $T|y$ to some closed invariant subspace $y{\subset}X$ hypercyclic? In particular, it is well-known that any non-constant partial differential operator p(D) on $H({\mathbb{C}}^d)$ (entire functions) is hypercyclic. Now, if q(D) is another such operator, p(D) maps ker q(D) invariantly (by commutativity), and we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition on p and q in order that the restriction p(D) : ker q(D) $\rightarrow$ ker q(D) is hypercyclic. We also study hypercyclicity for other types of operators on subspaces of $H({\mathbb{C}}^d)$.

  • Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold of codimension 3 with almost contact metric structure (𝜙, 𝜉, 𝜂, g) in a complex space form Mn+1(c), c ≠ 0. We denote by A and R𝜉 the shape operator in the direction of distinguished normal vector field and the structure Jacobi operator with respect to the structure vector 𝜉, respectively. Suppose that the third fundamental form t satisfies dt(X, Y) = 2𝜃g(𝜙X, Y) for a scalar 𝜃(< 2c) and any vector fields X and Y on M. In this paper, we prove that if it satisfies R𝜉A = AR𝜉 and at the same time ∇𝜉R𝜉 = 0 on M, then M is a Hopf hypersurface of type (A) provided that the scalar curvature s of M holds s - 2(n - 1)c ≤ 0.

  • Let $\cal{B}$ be a reflexive Banach space of functions analytic on the open unit disc and M be an invariant subspace of the multiplication operator by the independent variable, $M_z$. Suppose that $\varphi\;\in\;\cal{H}^{\infty}$ and $M_{\varphi}$ : M ${\rightarrow}$ M, defined by $M_{\varphi}f={\varphi}f$, is the operator of multiplication by ${\varphi}$. We would like to investigate the spectrum and the essential spectrum of $M_{\varphi}$ and we are looking for the necessary and sufficient conditions for $M_{\varphi}$ to be a Fredholm operator. Also we give a sufficient condition for a sequence $\{w_n\}$ to be an interpolating sequence for $\cal{B}$. At last the commutant of $M_{\varphi}$ under certain conditions on M and ${\varphi}$ is determined.

  • It has been proved by the semi-classical gauge invariant formulation (GIF) that the correct interaction operator for coupling the field-free material states with the radiation field must be the position form regardless of the gauge chosen for expressing the electromagnetic potentials, in accordance with the well-established principle of gauge invariance. The semi-classical GIF is now extended to the quantized radiation field interacting with matter by defining the energy operator for the quantized radiation field in the presence of matter. It will be shown in this paper that the use of the energy operator guarantees the position form of the interaction operator even in the Coulomb gauge, contrary to the conventional approach in which the dark material Hamiltonian is used to get the interaction operator of the momentum form. The multipolar Hamiltonian is examined in the context of the quantum mechanical gauge transformation.
