Development of Tablet PC-Based Multimedia Educational Contents for Patients and Their Family Undergoing Thoracic Surgery (흉부수술 환자와 가족을 위한 태블릿 PC기반 멀티미디어 교육자료 개발)

  • Purpose: This study aims to develop Tablet PC-based multimedia educational contents on the procedures from surgery preparation to recovery for hospitalized patients who are going to undergo thoracic surgery and their families. Methods: The educational contents were created based on literature review and a survey of needs in patients and their families who were admitted to a hospital in Seoul from Dec. 2013 to May 2014. The contents were developed in conjunction with a film production company. The educational materials including texts, images, sounds, and videos were developed appling the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) model. Results: Two multimedia educational contents were developed for the patients with coronary artery bypass graft or lung surgery. Each content consisted of six subdivisions of self-learning for 20 minutes. The developed educational contents were completed after testing content validity by 30 medical experts. Conclusion: This study recommends that the Tablet PC-based educational contents for thoracic and cardiovascular patients and their families be used in general wards and intensive care units to relieve their anxiety before surgery and reduce postoperative complications.

An Efficient Processor Synchronization Scheme on Shared Memory Multiprocessor (공유메모리 다중처리기에서 효율적인 프로세서 동기화 기법)

  • Many kinds of large scale multiprocessing and parallel-processing systems have recently been developed. The contention on the shared data caused by multiple processors may degrade system performance. So, processor synchronization has become one of the important issues in these systems. To solve the synchornization issues, a lot of software and hardware schemes based on spin lock have been proposed. Although software schemes are easy to implement, hardware schemes are preferred in many systems to gain optimized performance. This paper proposes an efficient processor synchronization scheme, called QCX,and describes its design considerations, hardware, algorithm, protocol. Also, in this paper, the performance of QCX has been evaluated with QOLB[5] and LBP[7] using a simulation. The simulation, with varying the number of processor and the contention on shared variables, measured the average execution times of a workload. The simulation results show that the performances of QCX is best when practicability is considered. QCX is more efficient than QOLB and LBP in two aspects. First, the hardware of QCX is more simple and cost-effective because the cache structure need not be changed. Secondly, QCX is more general because it uses a generic atomic instruction.

Analyzing the Status of Environment-related Teaching in Elementary and Secondary Schools (초.중등학교에서 진행되는 환경 관련 수업의 현황 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the status of environment-related teaching in elementary and secondary schools. A questionnaire survey was conducted for the study. Items in the questionnaire were developed based on the theory of environmental education and integrated education. The questionnaire was responded to 501 elementary school teachers, 273 middle school teachers, and 210 high school teachers in the city of Seoul and Kyunggi Province. The survey analysis revealed that elementary and secondary school teachers recognized 'environmental action skills' as the most important objective for school environmental education. Contrary to the teachers' expectations, it was found that there is insufficient teaching and learning materials for teaching in the domain of 'environmental action skills' and they could not confidently teach the skills in environment-related classes. For professional development of teachers in integrated environmental education, pre- and in-service programs will be developed systematically in a workshop to give teachers an opportunity to analyze teaching materials, design instruction plan, perform class trial, and evaluate the class situation for feedback. The results of this study can serve as a basic reference for improvement of environment-related subject education.

  • Today, living in a software-centered global community. lots of countries are putting most efforts on breeding a creative manpower well equipped with problem-solving abilities based on computational thinking. Upon this colleges and universities where most strongly related to job activities are proceeding instruction related to programming for the IT majors realizing the importance of the software education. Hereby we intend to be of a proper help for every colleges and universities students who are working on educational programming design for the first time performing a research probing the relationship with the full gamut of computational thinking based on the result acquired through a phased survey showing the amount of difficulties at their beginning stages.

  • The disease diagnosis system has been developed using the thin nitride(Si3N4) cantilever arrays which can measure the difference of capacitances between sensor and reference. The system consists of 32-bits RISC(Reduced Instruction Set Computer), RAM/Flash, bus, communication IP's, ADC(Analog Digital Converter) board, and LCD display. The marker selection method, which give us the good accuracy from reasonal numbers of markers, is suggested. The developed system has the resolution under 1fF and can detect 10nM concentration of Thrombin.

The Effects of Sensory Stimulation on Mother-Infant Interaction, Maternal Self-Esteem and Infant Temperament (감각자극이 모아 상호작용, 모성자존감 및 영아기질에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sensory stimulation conducted by primiparas on mother-infant interaction, maternal self-esteem and infant temperament. Method: A non-equivalent control group post-test study design was used. The data were collected from December 1, 2001 to March 30, 2003. The participants were 39 primiparas with normal birth weight infants. They were divided into two groups, 20 mothers in the intervention group and 19 in the control group. The mothers in the intervention group were given instruction on sensory stimulation by the researcher, and the mothers, in turn, used this technique on their infants twice a day during the first 2 months of life. Both groups were measured for maternal self-esteem and infant temperament using the maternal self-report inventory (MSRI) and What My Baby Is Like (WBL) and a film was made of the feeding situation when each infant was between 8 and 10 weeks of age. Results: Compared to the control group, the experimental group had significantly higher scores in mother-infant interaction, maternal self-concept and infant temperament. Conclusion: This suggests that sensory stimulation conducted by primiparas may improve the mother-infant interaction, maternal self-esteem and infant temperament.

The Effects of Web-Contents Learning for Adult-Care Practice (성인간호학 실습지원 웹 콘텐츠의 학습효과)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of Web-Contents Learning by nursing students on nursing knowledge, self-directed learning and clinical competence. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pre-post test. For the study, 146 nursing students were selected from three colleges. Seventy-six were experimental subjects and 70 were control subjects. The subjects in the experimental group studied Web-Contents along with four weeks of clinical practice. Data were collected by structured questionnaires and analyzed using the SPSS program. Result: The experimental group showed significant increase in their nursing knowledge (t=-3.866, p=.001). However, no significant differences were observed between the two groups in self-directed learning (t=-.759, p=.449) and clinical competence (F=.891, p=.347). Conclusion: From our investigation, the present study suggests some implication for learner-related variables. Elaboration of experimental design to validate the effects of Web-Contents Learning should be carried out.

Development and Effects of an e-Learning Program in Operating Room Nursing for Nursing Students (간호학생을 위한 수술간호 e-Learning 프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

Methods: Based on content and need analysis, 9 learning modules were developed for nursing care in operating rooms and with operating equipment. To verify the effects of the program, a quasi- experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The participants in this study were 74 third-year nursing students (34 in the experimental and 40 in the control group) from a junior college in G-city, Korea, who were engaged in a one week clinical practicum in an operating unit. Frequencies, $X^2$-test and t-test with the SPSS program 17.0 were used to analyze the data. Results: Knowledge was significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group (p=.018). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in self-directed learning. The experimental group had significantly higher motivation toward learning, which was examined posttest only (p=.027). Conclusion: These results indicate that the implementation of an e-Learning program needs to be continued as an effective educational tool, but more research on the best way to implement e-Learning in students' practicum is needed.

  • Development of computer and internet has permitted cyber education transcending time and space, which escapes traditional classroom. As a result, the study of learner's own leading in Web-based instruction environment can be possible. In order to perform it effectively, suitable helps and advices, called scaffolding, must be offered. In this pater, we select a principle of computer in information technology basic subject of technical high school, and design and implement the web contents that provide the proper scaffolding for learners.

Design and Evaluation of Cache Structure for Semi-packed Instruction (부분 압축 명령어를 위한 캐쉬 구조의 설계 및 평가)

  • VLIW에서는 프로그램 코드를 병렬화 하는 작업이 모두 컴파일러에 의해서만 이루어진다. 따라서 병렬로 수행될 연산어들을 명시적으로 나타내 주어야 하며, 이를 위한 명령어 인코딩 방식으로 전개 인코딩 방식과 압축 인코딩 방식이 사용되어 왔다. 각 인코딩 방식들은 명령어의 적재 및 검색을 위해 서로 다른 캐쉬 구조를 필요로 하는데, 전개 인코딩 방식으로 비압축 캐쉬를 압축 인코딩 방식으로 압축 캐쉬를 사용하고 있다. 그러나 이들은 각각 무효 연산어로 인한 메모리 활용 효율 저하와 복원 과정으로 인한 명령어 인출 오버헤드의 증가라는 문제점을 안고 있다. 본 논문에서는 부분적으로 명령어 길이를 일정하게 유지하는 부분 압축 인코딩을 사용해 메모리 활용 효율을 높이는 동시에 명령어 인출 오버헤드를 줄일 수 있는 분할 캐쉬 구조를 제안한다. 각 캐쉬 구조를 구현하는데 필요한 칩 영역을 계산하여, 분할 캐쉬가 비교적 비용 효율적인 캐쉬 구조임을 확인하였다. 모의 실험을 통한 메모리 활용 효율 측정 결과 하드웨어 비용의 증가를 고려하더라도 분할 캐쉬는 비압축 캐쉬에 비해 최고 약 3배의 메모리 활용 효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 각 캐쉬 구조를 일차 캐쉬로 하는 VLIW 시스템들의 성능 측정 결과는 TCSC(블록 집중형 분할 캐쉬)를 사용한 시스템이 비용 대비 성능 면에서 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다.
