Development of Teaching and Learning Process Plans Based on the Use of the Metaverse ZEP Platform in Practical Arts (Technology & Home Economics) Focusing on the "Family Life" Unit (실과(기술·가정) 교과 '가족' 영역 메타버스 ZEP 플랫폼 기반 교수·학습 과정안 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to design and develop a Metaverse ZEP platform-based teaching and learning process plan by selecting learning topics that are commonly dealt with among the core concepts of the "family" area of practical (technical and home) subjects. To this end, a teaching and learning process plan was developed through planning, Metaverse platform design, expert review, and revision stages. The Metaverse ZEP "Open Class Day" platform, a virtual learning space, was created and developed to further utilize EduTech programs, such as Padlet, Mentimeter, Jamboard, Miricanvas, and Spatial. The teaching and learning process plan developed in this study consists of a total of seven sessions, including approaching EduTech, Changing Families, Exploring Our Family, and Counseling Centers 1, 2, and 3. Among them, Geumji Counseling Center 1, 2, and 3 was designed as a class in which parents and children participate together in open classes using the ZEP platform. This platform can be used as part of parent classes as well as to encourage online participation in the open classes held periodically at each individual school. In terms of the content validity ratio (CVR) of the developed teaching and learning process verified through five experts, 12 out of 15 questions had a CVR of 1, while the remaining three questions had a CVR of 0.6. The three questions with lower validity were revised and supplemented.

Comparisons of High School Students' Perspective on Home Economics (가정교과목에 대한 고등학생들의 의견연구 - 재학 중인 학교별 차이비교 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to find some directions to enhance high school students' recognitions for the necessity of Home Economics(HE) education. 309 respondents were sampled from boys', girls' and co-ed high schools in Chongju. The questionnaire consisted of some items about the respondents' interest, necessity, and the required level for HE. The results are as follows : 1) Students from girls' high school and co-ed high school showed more interest in HE than did the students from boys' high school. 2) The recognition of the necessity for learning HE in high school was significantly differed according to the school systems. 3) The demand level on HE was 52.8 out of 100 point, which is fairly low. Girls from co-ed high school showed higher demand on HE than did the girls' high school. 4) The highest demand level of students in the detailed domains of HE was on consumption. And the students showed a comparatively high demand on health, job, and consumption, while showing low demand on clothing. 5) Students from boys' high school and co-ed high school favored practice-oriented HE education.

  • Home economics is a very important part of high school curriculum. The goal of home economics is to enable the students to get necessary knowledge and skills of household affaires, so they can manage their household tasks easily. This study was investigated to know the present condition of high school food preparation classes and evaluation method and to find out the problems related to the evaluation. Ninety four teachers from Kyoung-Ki province answered the questionnaire. The results are as follows: They though that the most appropriate food preparation classes should be at least 4-6 in a year. But in practice they only had 1-2 classes because of the time and budget. Because most of the teachers wanted the students to apply their knowledge to real life, they mainly chose Korean foods instead of western foods. It may help the students understand the Korean traditional food. Most of the schools needed additional gas oven ranges, microwave ovens and water purifiers. Most teachers(87.50%) evaluated the students in groups. This was due to limited time and lack of objective evaluation methods. So it is suggested that the Ministry of Education must make the measure of objective evaluation and allot more home economics hours at high school curriculum.

  • The purposes of the study were to: (1) develop instructional method for consumer education of home economics in the middle school. (2) test the effectiveness of the developing instructional method focusing on the problem solving. In the method of the research, literature review related to the consumer education. models of teaching and characteristics of problem solving method were studied. Also, on the basis of theoretical evidence. the teaching plan focusing on problem solving method was developed. In addition, experimental research was done to find out the learning effectiveness on the developing instructional method of the study. This experimental research were made in the six classes of the three middle school in Seoul. For the statistical analysis of the study, frequency, mean and two way ANOVA(factorial design) were used. The results of this study were summarized as follows; (1) The developed instructional method of the study was more effective than the traditional lecture method. (2) The effects of the teaching-learning method were depended on the sex. The learning effects on the female students were higher than the male students. (3) The learning effects on the students were influenced by the sex and teaching method.

A Study on the Implementation of Vocational Home Economics Program at Senior High School (고등학교 가정계 직업 교육 프로그램 운영에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims at seeking how to activate and operate vocational home economics curriculum efficiently. We collected data from school district offices in the nation and questionaries to 37 high school teachers in charge of vocational home economics, 30 teachers in charge of vocational course, 305 students of vocational school, and 135 students on vocational course for the recognition of and request for vocational home economics curriculum. Collected data were analysed by frequency, percentage, and X(sup)2, and SPSS/PC(sup)+ program are used for the statistical analysis. Followings are the outcomes of this study. 1. The number of classes in which vocational home economics is operated has been on the rise since 1986. As for curriculum of vocational high school, 79 classes for clothing, tourism, and childhood education are being operated in 8 schools. 2. Teachers acknowledge vocational training should keep complete and sustaining education and that it should aim ar conduction education which enables students to acquire technical knowledge and to seek a gob. Both teachers and students admit vocational home economics should be carried out so that vocational training can be combined with general education. 3. Teachers put more emphasis on its major field than that general field. As for laboratory classes, teachers complained about the financial lack, while students need for field practice for the purpose of opening the way for combing theory with practice and proposing for scientific study of industrial sites. As for the contents, students considered the technical course size appropriate and they though it is desirable that the ratio of practical class should be increased by more than 60% of that of the current class ratio.

A Study on the Improvement of Home Economics Curriculum in Middle Schools (중학교 가정과 교육과정 운영개선에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this reasearch is to supply the basic data to improve Home Economics curriculum. This research was intended for 190 home economics teachers who are teaching in Kwang-Ju and chun-nam. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Among the objects of Home economics, the most important objects were to make students understand the significance of family life and development of family numbers. It requires 4 or 5 hours a week to learn these objects. 2. The amount of curriculum was immense and the level of curriculum was higher than students’level. More intencifying field are in this order; sex education, propriety education, consumption life, occupation, and computer education. 3. In home economics curriculum, the main stress was laid upon the application of action and learning content was focused on the matter set in the examination. 4. Theory and practical training classes were usually in the ratio of 7:3 and 8:2 in the current school classes. Ideal training classes are in the ration of 4:6, 5:5, 6:4, which showed that much weight was given to the practical exercises. 5. In practing subject matter, students tended to practice only main subject matter. The reason was primarily due to the lacks of equipments and faccilities, the limitation of training time for enterance examination and budgetary deficit. 6. Application of resorces was in the order of files, realia, samples, hanging chart, O.H.P and V.T.R. 7. The method of evaluation was mostly composed of paper and pens and practical evaluation when the practical evaluation was carrient out, in the case of necessity the standard of evaluation was made out.

Analysis of Home Economics Textbooks for High School (고등학교 가정 교과서 분석 연구)

  • The purposes of the study are to see as to how much of changes has occurred in the newly revised high school Home Economics Textbooks required by the 6th Curriculum and to seek future policy directions which can be improved even better, if any, for further revision. To implement this proposal, the study employs 6 different textbooks published in 1996 geared for the 6th Curriculum for data base. The components of the contents divides into two major parts. The first part faUs into a category of holistic analysis of the textbooks, which gives a general perspective of the changes in the textbook revised. It includes those areas of changes in the total number of pacover page, illustrations, table of contents, appendices, unit cover, introductory remarks, summary and evaluation, etc. It also covers the information on authors of textbook. The latter part consists of several specific areas of major changes occurred in the textbooks for the 6th Curriculum. It covers such areas of changes in the composition of category and its weigh laboratory experiences, and illustrations and tables. To conclude the study, there found followings key features : 1) The new textbooks have adopted more of varieties in physical appearances and contents per se as to the older ones. And yet, there still found a weakness in numbers of authors participated to a full reflection of contents variety. In addition, the background of authors reflected on an unrealistic idealism which lacks the on-site information provided by the school teachers. 2) The content area consists of 3 major areas of Human Development & Family Relationship. Food and Nutrition. Clothing and Textiles with ratio of 23.8%, 23.1%, and 21.9% respectively. 3) Human Development & Family Relationship area ranked first with 71 times in the numbers of laboratory activities for each content area. followed by Food and Nutrition with 56 and Family Resorces & Consumerism with 54. Analysis of the democratic civic competencies of activity tasks in middle school Home Economics textbooks according to 2015 revised national curriculum (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 중학교 가정 교과서 활동과제의 민주시민역량 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the democratic civic competencies of the activity tasks in 'the Family Life' part in Middle School Technology Home Economics textbooks according to the 2015 revised national curriculum. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the activity tasks of six types of middle school Home Economics textbooks (for a total 12 of volumes) were analyzed. As a result, the use of the citizenship competency group was the most often recorded out of the three democratic civic competency groups and the subset of trust and value competencies also were frequently observed. Additionally, democratic civic competency was the seen most within the 'human development and family' area by the national curriculum, and showed the highest frequency in big idea, 'the relationship'. Activity tasks in the 'KH' textbooks were dealing with democratic civic competency the most. Based on the relationship between Home Economics education and democratic civic competencies, it is necessary to study the practice of classroom instruction so that students can develop democratic civic competence in 'the Family Life' by means of a Home Economics curriculum.

  • This is the forth consecutive study on the 'Standardization of Measurement for Korean Kitchen Work Centers and Cabinets for Future Design Criteria'. The purpose of the present research was (1) to classify homemakers' representative like styles related to the kitchen, (2) to examine homemakers' present concerns on the kitchen space, and (3) to investigate homemakers' desire and preference on the kitchen space. Twenty two hundred homemakers of upper and middle class residing in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju and Daejeon were selected for the survey and 1,843 among them were used for data analysis. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, factor analysis, F-test, Duncan's multiple range test, X2-test, cluster analysis. Findings from the research as follows: (1) Four factors were found as indicaters of the life style; values on the household work, desire on social function of the kitchen, degree on cooperation of family members on the household work, and convenient management. It was noticeable that homemakers had positive responses in terms of desire on social function of the kitchen and degree on cooperation of family members on the household work. Homemakers' life styles related to the kitchen space were classified into 6 categories. (2) Relatively a few respondents answered that the kitchens were very well furnished. If, however, the economic conditions become better, substantial number of them wanted to invest for better kitchen following the one for living room. (3) It was found that most respondents preferred the arrangement of space, where dining and kitchen in one space, and a hard wall or soft treatment was between living and dining/kitchen area. (4) Many respondents desired pantry, utility and laundry area be near the kitchen or in the same space with it, thereby forming a utility core in a housing space.

A Survey of the Cognition on Teaching Consulting and Dietary Class of Home Economics Teachers (수업컨설팅 및 식생활수업에 대한 가정과교사의 인식 조사)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the perception of teaching consulting and dietary education of Home Economics teachers. The subjects consisted of 139 Home Economics teachers in Korea. The perceptions of Home Economics teachers on their teaching class were as follows: the teachers who had a lot of psychological burden on their open classes, 62.6%; who were satisfied with their teaching, 29.5%; who had been teaching consulting, 40.3%; consulting is needed in order to improve the quality of instruction, 46.8%; who wanted to receive teaching consulting, 46.1%. who wanted to receive teaching consulting excellent colleagues, 76.3%. The most of the Home Economics teachers had a positive attitude on the teaching consulting. The perceptions of teaching strategies of dietary teaching classes were as follows: using audio-visual materials for students concentrate, 47.5%; observing the students reactions and feedback for individual variation, 73.4%; descriptive class for main teaching method, 58.3%. The difficulties of teaching dietary class were as follows: total mean, 2.60/5.00; considering individual differences, 3.26; involving students in activities, 3.11; selection of teaching media, 2.88; production of media, 2.88; planning teacher and student activities, 2.85. Home Economics teachers have to lead dietary education in society and schools but they feel a lot of psychological burden on opening teaching class. Therefore Home Economics teachers are recommended to devote consistent efforts to strengthen teaching ability through the analysis of teaching ability, teaching reflection, consulting and actual performance of self-supervision.
