  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the energy consumption of Elementary, Middle and High Schools in Daejeon Metropolitan City. The main results are as follow: 1) Annual energy consumption per class was 12,825 (kWh/class) at elementary schools, 15,780 (kWh/class) at middle schools, and 29,447 (kWh/class) at high schools, 2) Generally the smaller the size of the school, the higher the energy consumption per class. However according to the HVAC system there was no consistent pattern of energy consumption per class. 3) According to Box and Whisker's Chart, distribution of energy consumption of elementary and middle schools' had small range. However, the range of high schools increased. 4) Energy consumption in winter season was larger than that of summer season in schools.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective software education donation model for the social care class. The types of software education for elementary, middle, and high school for the social care class are in the order of after school classes, club activities, creative experiences, and regular classes. In elementary school students, it is effective to precede visual programming education based on block coding and to conduct curriculum convergence with SW and HW at the beginning, and high school students are carrying out text programming education like Python. Software education for social care class The contribution activity model can be classified into five types such as geographically difficult area, multicultural family areas, orphanage, reformatory, and basic livelihood security recipient. In addition, the survey results show that the students' interest in software education and their satisfaction are all very high at 96%. Effective software education for the social care class In the donation model, the lecturers consist of responsible professors, lecturers, and assistant instructors. Software training for the social care class is effective on a year-by-year basis, so that students can feel authenticity and trust. Software education contents focus on visual programming and physical computing education in elementary or middle school, and text programming and physical computing education in high school. It is necessary to construct a software education donor matching system that helps efficient management of software education donations by efficiently matching schools (consumers: elementary, middle, high school) and software education donors(suppliers).

  • According to the master plan of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, departmentalized class system will be extended to all general middle & high schools by 2014 with the exception only of those having less than 6 classes located in small cities in rural areas. Under departmentalized class system, according to class timetable, students need to move from classroom to another classroom and areas where homebases, lounges, media spaces, rest places, and etc. This study has been undertaken to provide architectural data required in planning for student & learning support space for schools operating departmentalized class system, by investigating and analyzing cases in use at schools operating the system in Chungbuk area. As departmentalized class system is increasingly introduced, student & learning support space should be understood newly as spaces indispensable for students.

  • Big 3 Korean department stores - Lotte, Hyundai, and Shinsegae have pursued a differentiation strategy in order to survive the era of big-bang. This study has proposed to present a frame work with which we can recognize the character of design, which is pertinent to a differentiation strategy. The results of study are as follow ; 1) Lotte department store reveals the 3 strategies - location, composition and specialization strategy and the character of design has traditional, high class and neutral disposition. 2) Hyundai department store reveals high class strategy and the character of design has high class and modern disposition. 3) Shinsegae department store reveals high class and specialization strategies and the character of design has high class, tradition and modem disposition.

  • This study aims to find out the argument structure which appears in the type of argument class (teacher- and student-centered) of the high school. The argument structure was compared and analyzed according to analyzing the study achievement and verified the academic achievement related to climate change. The results are listed below. First, the student-centered class is more effective method through the result that analyzed the class type of the teacher in argument-centered class. This result is to suggest more effective method to revitalize the argument activity of students-centered class which students plan for themselves and find more various materials. Second, teacher-centered class is more effective in contrast with argument analysis in the academic achievement test. While this is why the teacher-centered class utilizes an essential data necessary to curriculum in the argumentation, the elements to form the argument increased because students utilized the materials with their interest and concern in the process of proving in the student-centered class. Through the results of the research, it is necessary to develop the argument-centered programs for the science class and the curriculum-centered materials for argument class activity.

  • In this paper, we proposed and analysed two kinds of priority control mechanism to archive the cell loss rate requirement and the delay requirement of each class. The service classes of our concern are the high time priority class(class 1) and the high loss priority class(class 2). Two kinds of priority control mechanism is divided by the method of storing the arriving class 2 cell in buffer on case of buffer full. The first one is the method which discarding the arriving class 2 cell, the second one is the mothod which storing the arriving class 2 cell on behalf of pushing out the class 1 cell in buffer. In the proposed priority schemes, one cell of the class 1 is transmitted whenever the maximum K cells of the class 2 is transmitted on case of transmitting the class 1 cell and the class 2 cell sequentially. In this paper, we analysed the cell loss rate and the mean cell delay for each class of the proposed priority scheme by using the Markov chain. The analytical results show that the characteristic of the mean cell delay becomes better for the class 1 cell and that of the cell loss rate becomes better for the class 2 cell by selecting properly the cell transfer ratio according to the condition of input traffic.

  • This study sampled 6,535 grade 11 or 12 students in South Korea using a stratified random sampling method in order to identify the differences in the perception of students on what a good mathematics class is by school class and region. The results showed that four elements of a good mathematics class were significantly different among school classes and regions.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate difference in the diet by the kind of meal and the economic status. Nutrient contents at each meals were compared and differences in food intake at different meal were analyzed by economic status. Data from the 1998 Korean National Health Examination Nutrition Survey were used. Using the poverty line based on the 1998 Korean minimum cost of living, the subjects (n = 10400) were classified into high class (36.1%), middle class (40.7%) and low class (23.1 %). Most nutrient intakes were obtained for main meals regardless of economic status. For high class, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks bring about 21, 29, 30 and 19 % of total energy intake, for middle class 22, 29, 30 and 19% and for low class 24, 30, 30 and 16%, respectively. The high-middle class people tend to get more food intakes and nutrients at dinner and snacks, while the low class at main meals. This result was associated with the consumption of a smaller number of meals and a greater number of snacks daily as the economic level was going up (p 〈 0.05). Meals contributed to energy, protein and fat intake, and snacks to water, retinol and vitamin C. The food intakes by food group were different at meals by economic class. Seaweed product were popular breakfast foods in both middle and low groups. Thus three meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner still delivered most of the energy and most of the macro-nutrients regardless of economic status.

  • This study would suggest to analyze the perceptions of good mathematics teaching in high school and offer the resolutions for the conflicts caused by differences in perception between teachers and students in math class through previous studies and comparative implications. To this end, Students are classified by their courses, grades, gender awarenesses and they were analyzed and compared by the survey results. Although the preference for the math class that fixs the misconception of students is highest, regardless of the kinds of students groups. Academic students, middle-ranked students, female students have high affinity for the class to evaluate the material covered in class and take into account their level of assessment and instruction, low-ranked student's preference is higher for the class that has focused on understanding communicating their thinking processes than students. From this, it is suggested that academic students, low-ranked students are needed to be taught in a way that increases their confidence, interests, values and also in atmosphere that make math class a positive experience.

  • This study aims to propose some alternatives in architectural planning for reducing the class size of elementary, middle and high schools. In order to achieve above purpose, I discuss the current status of class size, the relationship between class size and educational outputs and the obstacles in realizing the optimum class size of elementary, middle and high schools during the past 40 years. Finally, the paper proposes 8 alternatives in reducing the class size, which can be considered during the early stage of school planning.
