This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of pain, self-esteem, perceived health status, and self-efficacy and its influencing factors in patients with chronic arthritis. The data were obtained from 104 patients with chronic arthritis registered in one university hospital in Seoul, from May to August, 2000. For analysing the data, SAS program was used for t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows: 1. The variables which showed significant difference with pain were sex, number of painful joints. 2. The variables which showed significant difference with perceived health status were age, diagnosis. number of painful joints. 3. The variables which showed significant difference with self-efficacy were duration of disease, number of painful joints. quality of sleeping. 4. Moderate negative correlation were observed between pain and perceived health status, self-efficacy, and low positive correlation was observed between self-esteem and perceived health status. Also self-esteem revealed moderate positive correlation with self-efficacy, and moderate positive correlation was observed perceived health status and self-efficacy. 5. The predictors to explain self-efficacy were number of painful joints, self-esteem, duration of disease, duration of exercise and pain. These predictors explained $36.05\%$ of variance of self-efficacy. In conclusion, the nursing intervention to improve self-efficacy for chronic arthritis patients focused not only physiological symptoms such as pain. but also psychosocial factors such as self-esteem.
Purpose: This study conducted to identify factors affecting on the job stress among employees of community integrated health promotion programs. Methods: A total of 175 employees of community integrated health promotion programs in public health centers were asked to complete a pack of self-report questionnaires. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Employees' emotional labor was a bit higher than moderate. Employees' job stress was higher than that of general employees in public health centers but similar to police officers. Job stress had a positive relationship with emotional labor and a negative relationship with self-efficacy. Factors affecting on the job stress were emotional labor, self efficacy and working period for integrated health promotion. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, employees of community integrated health promotion programs in public health centers need to develop effective interventions to help them effectively decrease job stress. This, in turn, will decrease emotional labor and increase self efficacy.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identity the effects of a tailored health promotion program on rural residents' self efficacy, health problems and quality of life. Method: Data were collected from May 13th, 2006 to July 29th, 2006. The subjects were selected at Gajo-myeon, Geochang-gun, Gyeonsangbuk-do, Korea. Forty three residents were included in the experimental group and 39 in the control group. The 12-week health promotion program was given to the experimental group. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, $\chi^2$-test, t-test and ANCOVA test with the SPSS/win 12.0 program. Result: The experimental group showed higher scores of self efficacy and quality of life than the control group, and a tower score of health problem than the control group. Conclusion: From the above results, it can be concluded that the tailored health promotion program for rural residents is an effective intervention for improving their self efficacy and quality of life and reducing their health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to spread the tailored health promotion program for residents in other rural areas in Korea.
Purpose: This study was to identify the relations among ADL, self-efficacy, physical activity and cognitive function in elders. Methods: A total of 257 subjects aged between 60 and 92 were selected through convenient sampling. Data were collected with a self-reported questionnaire from November 1 to November 30, 2008. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results: Differences in ADL, self-efficacy, physical activity, and cognitive functions according to general characteristics were as follows. ADL was significantly different according to age, cohabitation, recognition on health, and successful aging. Self-efficacy was significantly different according to cohabitation, recognition on health, and successful aging. Physical activity was significantly different according to age, educational level, cohabitation, and cognition on health. Cognitive function was significantly different according to age, educational level, job, and recognition on health. The correlation coefficient (r) of the ADL variables was .565 for self-efficacy, .633 for physical activity and .460 for cognitive function. Conclusion: Findings of this study may be useful in understanding the health status of community-dwelling elders and developing more specific health promotion programs.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of osteoporosis knowledge and health behavior self-efficacy on preventive nursing performance for osteoporosis. Methods: The participants of this study were 150 nurses working in 4 general hospitals. The data were collected during October 2019 using written questionnaires. General characteristics, osteoporosis knowledge, health behavior self-efficacy, and preventive nursing performance for osteoporosis were analyzed using means and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results: As a result of multiple regression analysis, the factors affecting preventive nursing performance included osteoporosis prevention education (β=.16, p=.034) and health behavior self-efficacy (β=.51, p<.001). The explanatory power of the model was 31.5%(F=10.94, p<.001). Conclusion: It was found that the experiences of osteoporosis prevention education and health behavior self-efficacy influenced preventive nursing performance for osteoporosis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the motivation of choosing a teaching profession, teacher efficacy, and satisfaction of teaching class of pre-health education teachers and compare the teacher efficacy, and satisfaction of teaching class by motivation of choosing a teaching profession group. Methods: The participants were 54 pre-health education teachers studying the teaching curriculum in 1 college located in S city. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The average motivation of choosing a teaching profession, teacher efficacy, satisfaction of teaching class were above medium. After cluster analysis, 3 distinct groups emerged: motivation of choosing a teaching profession high group, motivation of choosing a teaching profession middle group, motivation of choosing a teaching profession low group. And the results showed significant differences in teacher efficacy, satisfaction of teaching class according to motivation of choosing a teaching profession group. Conclusion: The findings indicate that motivation of choosing a teaching profession affect the teacher efficacy, satisfaction of teaching class. Therefore It is necessary to identify the variables that influence motivation of choosing a teaching profession.

Purpose: This research was conducted to examine the relationship of knowledge, health beliefs, and self-efficacy on osteoporosis. Method: The design of this study was a correlative design. The subjects were 1,615 Korean adults over the age of 20 registered in a new town and participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire developed by Kim, Horan & Gendler (1991), translated into Korean. Results: 1) The subjects recorded an average score of 1l.10 on osteoporosis knowledge. The average scores on the osteoporosis health beliefs was 15.68 for perceived susceptibility and the respondents recorded an average score of 40.40 for osteoporosis self-efficacy. 2) There were statistically significant differences in the degree of osteoporosis knowledge, self-efficacy and health belief according to gender, age, scholastic achievement, marital state, and jobs. 3) There were statistically significant positive correlations between osteoporosis knowledge and self-efficacy. Conclusion: According to these results, an osteoporosis education program improving not only knowledge but also self-efficacy and health beliefs should be developed and applied to decrease the perception of barriers to exercise and intake of calcium.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between health locus of control, exercise self-efficacy and exercise benefits / barriers of female college students. Methods: Convenient sampling was used to recruit participants from a University based in Pusan. Data were collected from October 15 to December 20, 2007, and participants were 322 students. The questionnaires administered consisted of Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (HLOC) Scales, Exercise Self-efficacy Scale, and Exercise Benefits / Barriers Scale. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean scores for the HLOC among female students was HLOC-I: 22.24, HLOC-P: 16.82, HLOC-C: 15.16. The mean scores were exercise self-efficacy: 37.45, exercise benefit: 2.96, and exercise barriers: 2.89. The 'double external' response pattern of HLOC was the largest group in female students with significant difference in exercise benefit between response patterns of HLOC. There were significant correlations between HLOC-I, exercise self-efficacy, and exercise benefit/barriers. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that tailored health management program by pattern of HLOC should be developed to promote the exercise behavior and enhance the exercise self-efficacy and benefit for female students.
To study the factors related to self-efficacy and health promotion behavior of the late school-aged children, the questionnaire survey was conducted on 285 students from elementary schools in Daegu metropolitan city from September 3 to september 14, 2012. Correlation analysis showed that there was significantly normal correlation between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior of elementary school students and in correlation according to each sub-area, exercise area showed the highest correlation, followed by stress area, self-realization area, personal relations area, eating habits area, and responsibility for health area. It is considered that the level of health promotion behavior in the areas of low stress management and responsibility for health found in the results of the study will be able to be higher if schools and homes prepare so as to enhance the students' belief in health promotion behavior with mental stability by developing the programs for the improvement of eating habits in the group with low self-efficacy and especially, recognizing the necessity of stress management.
This descriptive comparative study was conducted to compare the relationships among self-esteem, self-efficacy, perceived health status and the performance of health promoting lifestyles for nursing and non-nursing students. The sample consisted of 246 nursing students and 166 non-nursing students at an evening class of junior college in T city. The data was collected by a self reporting questionnaire from March 2 to March 17, 1997 and analyzed by SPSS Win. 7.0 program for frequency, mean, percentage, t -test, ANOVA, and a Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. The results of the comparison between the two groups was not significantly different for self esteem and perceived health status, but significantly different for self-efficacy. Nursing students had higher scores on self -efficacy than non-nursing students(t=4.621. p<.05). 2. There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups concerning a health promoting lifestyle. Nursing students ($157.73{\pm}20.26$) had higher scores on total health promotion as well as its 8 subscales than non -nursing students ($048.15{\pm}21.51$,), (t=21.074, p<.001). On subscales, nursing students had the highest score in sanitary life(3.22) and the lowest score in professional health maintenance(1.54). Non -nursing students had the highest score in harmonious relationships(3.10) and the lowest score in professional health maintenance (1.48). 3. Performance in a health promoting lifestyle was significantly correlated with such demographic variables as age and grade for nursing students, and types of dwelling for non -nursing students. 4. Perceptions of good health have been positively correlated with health promoting lifestyles. Those persons who rated their health as good showed the highest score, followed by excellent ,average, poor in that order. 5. Performance in health promoting lifestyles was significantly correlated with self-esteem, self-efficacy and, perceived health status. The most important factor that affect performance in health promoting lifestyles was self -efficacy.
