  • The use of nonlinear ultrasonics wave has been accepted as a promising tool for monitoring material states related to microstructural changes, as it has improved sensitivity compared to conventional non-destructive testing approaches. In this paper, third harmonic generation of shear horizontal guided waves propagating in an isotropic plate is investigated using the perturbation method and modal analysis approach. An experimental procedure is proposed to detect the third harmonics of shear horizontal guided waves by electromagnetic transducers. The strongly nonlinear response of shear horizontal guided waves is measured. The accumulative growth of relative acoustic nonlinear response with an increase of propagation distance is detected in this investigation. The experimental results agree with the theoretical prediction, and thus providing another indication of the feasibility of using higher harmonic generation of electromagnetic shear horizontal guided waves for material characterization.

  • High-order harmonics from gaseous atoms driven by an intense femtosecond laser pulse can form an attosecond pulse train. By selecting suitable harmonic generation conditions, the harmonic spectrum can be broad enough to form sub-hundred attoseconds. One serious limitation, however, comes from the inherent attosecond chirp originating from the harmonic generation process. We have proposed to compensate for the positive attosecond chirp by making use of negative group delay dispersion of a metallic x-ray filter or a noble gas. We generated 241-as pulses from neon and compressed them to 106 as after propagating through argon, close to the transform-limited duration of 98 as.

  • The reduction method of harmonic currents is very important, when harmonic influences of the systems connections of AC power lines with dispersed generations like solar energy and wind power generation etc, increase more and more. Which the influences of harmonic currents bring not only the drop of power quality but also many trouble occurrences of various systems. Recently, the necessity about application development of new substitute energy has gone up, and the development and practical use of dispersed power lines are proceeding now. Henceforth, a counterplan against harmonic influences must be devised for more practical use of new substitute energy. In this paper, we studied the harmonic influences and new devices for that connections and defined the calculating methods for hamonic currents of those systems.

  • All solid-state UV lasers provide efficient, clean and semipermanent light sources for various applications, such as eye surgery, microchip lithography. $CsLiB_{6}O_{10}$ (CLBO) is one of the most suitable crystals for UV generation because of its small walk-off, large effective nonlinear susceptibility in UV region and high damage threshold. We produced fourth (266 nm) and fifth (213 nm) harmonic generation of an Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) with $LiB_{3}O_{5}$ as a second harmonic generation medium and CLBO as a fourth harmonic and fifth harmonic mediums. • The dispersed generation is recently increased introduction for the energy supply rationalization and effective management of power system. But the dispersed generation causes to the various trouble that isn't occurred in the past, for example, the two way systems have an effect on the mistake action of protection equipment and the power quality. In this paper, we research the influence on the harmonic when the dispersed generation is interconnected with distribution system. To achievement, we construct the interconnecting dispersed generation and distribution system which is applied to the permission of harmonic emission. After that, we simulate about the harmonic of distribution system interconnection dispersed generation by the PSCAD/EMTDC analyzing transient state of the power system.

  • This paper presents a circuit to generate the current reference signal for single-phase harmonic elemination systems. Some of conventional methods for the current reference signal generation based on neural network algorithms. It requires complex circuitry to implement. the simplest method is to use analog filters. but it is difficult to obtain good current reference signals. So, we propose the harmonic detection circuit using GIC(Generalized Impedance Converter) for the purpose of low cost ,simple circuitry and high performance, Simulation and experimental results verify that the proposed circuit has better harmonic detection performance than conventional circuit.

  • This paper proposes a new islanding detection method for inverter-based distributed generators by continuously injecting a negligible amount of 2nd order harmonic current. The proposed method adopts a proportional resonant (PR) controller for the output current control of the inverter, and a PR filter to extract the 2nd order harmonic voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). The islanding state can be detected by measuring the magnitude ratio of the 2nd order harmonic voltage to the fundamental voltage at the PCC by injecting a 2nd order harmonic current with a 0.8% magnitude. The proposed method provides accurate and fast detection under grid voltage unbalance and load unbalance. The operation of the proposed method has been verified through simulations and experiments with a 5kW hardware set-up, considering the islanding test circuit suggested in UL1741.

  • Harmonic current originating from electric locomotives can be magnified due to the impedance characteristics of power supply circuit and bring about various problems. That is, electromagnetic interference with communication lines, operational trouble in signaling, overheat and/or vibration in power capacitor, mis-operation in protection relay and so on. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. For these reasons, this study propose a new approach to model and to analyse traction power feeding system focused on system response to current and voltage harmonic(PART I ). Measurements of harmonics are also performed for railway power supply systems under normal operation. Spectrum and distortion analyses in measurement data are variously described in PART II
