대체수자원 확보를 위한 하수 재이용 기술 동향과 발전방향 (Trends and Directions in the Development of Wastewater Reclamation and Reuse Technology for Alternative Water Resources)

  • Reuse of wastewater will intensify in the coming decades due to water shortage, the change of climatic conditions, the need for industrial and agricultural use and the necessity of improving health and environmental conditions for the growing population. This paper considers (a) the status and trends of wastewater reuse and reclamation in the world, (b) case studies of wastewater reuse projects, (c) analysis of technology level, (d) forecast of global market, and (e) the future views and directions in development of wastewater reuse technologies. Based on the available documented literature, this paper provides a review assessment of the current status of the wastewater treatment processes including potential applications for reuse. Key challenges for both wastewater treatment and reuse are also discussed in the paper and include recommendations, e.g. cost, effluent water quality, energy use and technical solutions, for future developments.

고주파 열처리된 SAE1055 강의 피로거동 및 이의 확률론적 평가 (Probabilistic Analysis of Fatigue Behavior of Induction Hardened Steel)

  • 본 논문에서는 고주파 열처리된 SAE1055 베어링강의 경도에 따른 피로 거동 및 이의 확률론적 평가를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 경도 수준에 따른 5 종류의 시험편(A : 원재료, B : HV390-전경화, C : HV510-전경화, D : HV700-전경화 및 E : HV-700 표면경화)를 준비하였다. 피로시험은 4 점 회전굽힘 피로시험기를 이용하여 응력비 R=-1 의 조건하에서 수행하였다. 그 결과, SAE1055 강의 피로 거동은 경도에 따라 크게 변화하였으나 HV510 수준이상에서는 피로한도의 증가는 관찰되지 않았다. 또한 피로 파손기구에 대한 경도의 영향을 평가하기 위하여 SEM(scanning electron microscope)을 이용한 파면 관찰을 수행하였다. 피로수명의 통계적 특성은 P-S-N(probabilistic S-N) 곡선을 이용하여 평가되었으며 이에 대한 경도의 영향은 잔류치 해석(residue analysis)을 통하여 수행하였다.

일대일로와 미·중 무역 분쟁: 글로벌 무역 네트워크에의 함의 (The Belt and Road Initiative and the US-China Trade War: Implications for Global Trade Networks)

  • 본 연구는 미·중 무역 전쟁과 일대일로가 촉발할 세계무역의 변화를 부가가치 기준 무역 통계를 이용하고, 사회연결망 기법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 일대일로 무역 환경은 제조 허브로서의 중국의 위상을 견고히 하고, 유럽 서비스 산업의 위상을 강화한다. 둘째, 1995년부터 2011년까지 GVC 네트워크 내에서 영향력이 큰 산업인 미국의 R&D 산업과 도소매업 및 독일의 자동차 산업은 미·중 무역 분쟁과 일대일로 무역 환경이 반영된 2049년까지도 그 위상이 안정적으로 유지된다. 셋째, 커뮤니티 수의 증가를 통해 일대일로가 GVC 네트워크의 분화를 심화시킨다는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 끝으로 중국의 전자 산업, 독일의 자동차 산업, 미국의 R&D 산업의 커뮤니티 진화 형태에서 주목할 만한 특성이 발견되는데 이는 각국 서비스 산업의 역량과 밀접하게 연관된다.

  • Currently, nanotechnology is widely applied in various industrial fields and is rapidly emerging as a promising future technology. In food industries, nanotechnology is used to enhance food quality and safety. Numerous cutting-edge studies on the advantages of nanotechnology have been conducted in the fields of food processing, food ingredients and additives, food packaging, and food engineering for optimal health. The market for these areas of research has grown steadily, and is expected to continue to do so. Because of this, R&D for nanotechnology that can be used effectively in food industries is being performed by several companies, as well as in academic research institutions around the world. This review describes the recent global R&D trends that have been in progress for two key areas: food processing and food packaging.

$\cdot$무선 데이터 통신을 이용한 천연가스 정압소의 안전방재 시스템 개발 (Development of Anti-disaster System for Natural Gas Governor Station Using Wire and/or Wireless Communication)

  • 본 연구는 전국에 산재된 천연가스 정압소를 위한 안전방재 시스템 개발을 위하여 수행되었다. 정압소에서 발생할 수 있는 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위하여 정압소의 안전상황을 수집/전송하는 RTU(Remote Terminal Unit)를 개발하여 정압소의 운전원의 역할을 대신하게 하였다. 그리고 전송된 각 정압소의 안전상황을 효과적으로 통제소 운전원에게 전달하며 추후 안전에 대한 분석을 위하여 데이터베이스 및 MMI(Man Machine Interface)를 개발하였다. 안정적인 천연가스 공급의 모든 프로세스을 제어하며, 각종 파라미터를 감시하는 원방 감시 제어 시스템(이하 SCADA 시스템)의 유선 통신 설비가 사고에 의해 무용화 될 경우, 정압소의 상황을 통제실로 전송하기 위하여 유선 및 무선 데이터 통신을 혼합한 유$\cdot$무선 자동 전환 시스템을 개발하였다. 한편 GPS(Global Position System) 및 GIS(Geometric Information System) 기술을 이용한 순찰차량 관리 시스템을 개발하여 정압소에서 이상 징후를 보일 경우 통제소 및 순찰차량에서 동시에 정압소의 상황을 파악할 수 있게 하여 능동적인 대처가 가능하게 하였다. 그리고 3축 가속도 센서를 이용하여 지진을 감지하고 전송하는 지진 감지 및 전송 시스템을 개발하였다. 지진 발생시 ESV(Emergency Shutoff Valve)를 차단할 수 있도록 최대 지반 가속도 및 SI(Spectrum Intensity)값의 크기를 전송해 줌으로서 대형사고를 방지하도록 하였다.

  • Ball bearing is a device that supports and transmits a load acting on a rotating shaft, and it is a type of rolling bearings that uses the rolling friction of the balls by inserting balls between the inner ring and the outer ring. Grease, which is prepared by mixing a thickener with a base oil, is a lubricant commonly used in bearings and has the advantage of a simple structure and easy handling. Bearings are increasingly being used in high value-added products such as semiconductors, aviation, and robots in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Accordingly, there is an increasing demand for bearing grease. The selection of grease is an important factor in the bearing design. Therefore, a study must be conducted on the grease life evaluation to select an appropriate grease according to operating conditions such as a high temperature, high rotational speed, and high load. In this study, we evaluate the life of ball-bearing grease according to various operating conditions, namely, temperature, speed, and load changes. For this, we develop and theoretically verify a grease life test machine for ball bearings. We conduct a life test of grease according to various operating conditions of bearings and predict the grease life with a 10% and 50% failure probability using the Weibull analysis. In addition, we analyze the oxide characteristics of the grease over time using the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and the deterioration characteristics of the grease using the carbonyl index.

Neuroprotective effects of herbal mixture HT070 on global cerebral ischemia in rats

  • Objectives : HT070 is a mixture of herbal extracts from root of Scutellaria baicalensis and stem bark of Eleutherococcus senticosus , which have long been used for stroke therapy in traditional Korean Medicine. The purpose of this study was to investigate the neuroprotective effects of HT070 on global cerebral ischemia and its potential mechanisms.Methods : Transient global cerebral ischemia was produced by 10 min of four-vessel occlusion (4-VO) in male Wistar rats. HT070 was administered orally at a dosage of 200 mg/kg twice at 0 and 90 min after reperfusion. Hippocampal neuronal damage was measured 7 days after reperfusion. To explore the potential mechanisms, we used hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells as an in vitro model. PC12 cells were pretreated with HT070 for 1 h and then exposed to 100 μM H2O2 for 6 h in the presence of HT070. Cell viability was measured by MTT assay and the mRNA expression of Bax, Bcl-2, iNOS and COX-2 were measured by quantitative RT-PCR.Results : Oral administration of HT070 at a dose of 200 mg/kg significantly reduced neuronal death in the hippocampal CA1 region by 13.4% as compared to the vehicle-treated group. HT070 increased cell viability, reversed the down-regulated Bcl-2 mRNA level, and suppressed the up-regulated mRNA expressions of Bax, iNOS, and COX-2 in H2O2-treated PC12 cells.Conclusions : HT070 protects against delayed neuronal death after global cerebral ischemia and its neuroprotection properties might be attributed to the inhibition of mitochondrial apoptosis and ROS-generating enzymes.

Mission Management Technique for Multi-sensor-based AUV Docking

  • This study presents a mission management technique that is a key component of underwater docking system used to expand the operating range of autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). We analyzed the docking scenario and AUV operating environment, defining the feasible initial area (FIA) level, event level, and global path (GP) command to improve the rate of docking success and AUV safety. Non-holonomic constraints, mounted sensor characteristic, AUV and mission state, and AUV behavior were considered. Using AUV and docking station, we conducted experiments on land and at sea. The first test was conducted on land to prevent loss and damage of the AUV and verify stability and interconnection with other algorithms; it performed well in normal and abnormal situations. Subsequently, we attempted to dock under the sea and verified its performance; it also worked well in a sea environment. In this study, we presented the mission management technique and showed its performance. We demonstrated AUV docking with this algorithm and verified that the rate of docking success was higher compared to those obtained in other studies.

고분자 사슬연장제를 이용한 폴리유산 / 폴리부틸렌 아디페이트테레프탈레이트 복합필름의 제조 및 특성 분석 (Study on Characteristics of PLA/PBAT Composite Film with Various Chain Extenders)

  • 고분자 사슬연장제(Chain extender)를 적정 함량별로 넣어 PLA와 PBAT 생분해성 복합 필름을 제조하였으며 제조된 필름의 기계적 특성 및 열적 특성을 분석하였다. 고분자 사슬연장제인 $Joncryl^{(R)}$과 헥사메틸렌 디이시소시아네이트(HDI, Hexamethylene Diisocyanate)를 각각 단일로 넣었을 경우, 고분자 사슬연장제의 함량 증가에 따라 인장강도(Tensile strength)가 함량에 비례하여 소폭 증가하는 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으나, 연신율에 있어서는 비례적인 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 하지만 두 종류의 사슬연장제를 적정비율로 같이 넣어 압출한 결과 인장강도가 40 MPa에 이르는 것으로 나타나 대조구의 인장강도 25 MPa보다 약 15 MPa 정도 증가하여 강도개선의 효과가 있는것으로 나타났으며 연신율의 경우 대조구보다 개선된 것으로 나타났다.

차량 추적을 위한 이동형 자동차 배출가스 측정시스템(MEL) 구축 (A Mobile Emission Laboratory for Car Chasing Experiment)

  • To measure the traffic pollutants with high temporal and spatial resolution under real conditions a mobile emission laboratory (MEL) was designed and built in KIST with close-cooperation with KIMM and Yonsei university. The equipment of the mini-van provides gas phase measurements of CO, NOx, $CO_2$, THC (Total hydrocarbon) and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and a condensation particle counter (CPC). The inlet sampling port above the bumper enables the chasing of different type of vehicles. This paper introduces the construction and technical details of the MEL and presents data from the car chasing experiment of diesel and CNG city bus. The dilution ratio was increased rapidly according to the chasing distance. Most particles from the diesel city bus were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 40-60 nm. However, the most particles from the CNG city bus were nano particle counted under 50 nm.
