Analysis of Information Science Gifted characterization of the subjects (정보과학영재의 과목별 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we tried to identify implications of selecting gifted of information science & followed educational system via analyzing each of student's characteristics in each subjects they study within Science Education Institute for the Gifted. A study of the existing institutions do not have experience of the gifted students based on assessment through observation of the 1-year science, mathematics and information science education in the List of attribute analysis. Learners of Information Science became with analysis that Attitude Category was superior in mathematics to the subject of science and Problem Solving Category regardless of the subjects showed similar. As to, Attitude Category, Problem Solving Category and Mathematics Cognition Category was analyzed to be closed and we could confirm through the qualitative observation record. On this, the researcher concluded that the mathematics could know the effect fitness by a learner rather than the subject of science as to an attitude and problem resolution area.

G/T Experts' Recognition on Educating ICT Core-competencies for Gifted Students in Science (과학영재를 위한 ICT 핵심역량 교육에 대한 전문가 인식 조사)

  • In this paper, we attempted to provide the bases of effective educational programs for fostering ICT competencies of gifted students in science. For this purpose, we tried to answer the questions like 'What are the ICT core-competence for gifted students in science?' and 'How can we educate those competencies effectively?' We started by reviewing existing studies on ICT competencies for talented people in future society and then adopted one[6] as the basis for further validation. We tried to work with as many G/T experts as possible, and decided to use the online survey methodology because the experts are scattered all over the country. The survey was sent to the corresponding person who is in charge of G/T education in each area, and then e-mailed to G/T experts in that area. Through these procedures, three hundred four(304) G/T experts from all around the country participated in this survey. The results showed the followings: (1) G/T experts agreed with the importance and necessity of ICT competencies for gifted students in science; (2) G/T experts agreed with the validity of three core ICT competencies, which are 'knowledge and skills competence, creativity competence, and characteristic competence,' for gifted students in science; (3) G/T experts agreed with the validity of educational goals, which are suggested for fostering each ICT core-competence of gifted students in science; and (4) G/T experts regarded 'product-oriented education' and 'ICT device-oriented education' as important and effective types of education programs for fostering ICT competencies of gifted students in science.

The Robot Education Program Based on Schoolwide Enrichment Model for Elementary School Students (학교전체 심화학습 모형에 기반한 초등로봇교육 프로그램)

  • Elementary school students should have many opportunities to find their abilities and talents. However, informatics education in Korea does not target the entire elementary school students, opportunities for informatics education are given only to some students. Unlike possibilities to find mathematics gifted students and science gifted students, opportunities to find informatics gifted students are very limited. This study aims to solve current problems through a robot education program based on SEM(Schoolwide Enrichment Model). Using modified curriculum and school enrichment cluster, robot programming education is implemented at the pilot school. The result shows that robot education program based on SEM improved creative potentials of elementary school students.

The Effect of Computer Scientific Attitude on Academic Achievement of Information Gifted Students (정보영재들의 컴퓨터 과학적 태도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to cultivate the talents needed in the 4th industrial revolution era, it is necessary to select gifted students and train them systematically. The affective characteristics of the gifted are self-concept, personality, sociality, motivation, morality, attitude and interest, and these are important factors that affect science achievement. In particular, computer scientific attitude is an important variable affecting computer science achievement. This study developed a computer scientific attitude test based on TOSRA developed by Fraser to measure the affective characteristics of information-gifted students. The computer scientific attitude test is composed of 7 areas: social implications of computer science, attitude to computer scientific inquiry, adoption of computer scientific attitudes, adoption of computer scientific attitudes, leisure interest in computer science, career interest in computer science, and normality of computer scientists. The relationship between computer scientific attitude and academic achievement of gifted students was analyzed using the developed test. To determine find out whether computer scientific attitude significantly predicts academic achievement, the results of a regression analysis showed that t = 2.543 and p = 0.025, indicating that the average of computer science attitude significantly predicted academic achievement.

  • The algorithm in computer science includes skills to design a problem solving process for solving problems efficiently and effectively. Therefore all learners who learn computer science have to learn algorithm. Education for algorithm is effective when learners acquire skills to design algorithm as well as ability to use appropriate design skills solving problems. Especially since it is heightened people awareness to cultivating informatics gifted students who have potential of significant impact on society, many studies on how to teach them have been in progress. Therefore in this study we adopted puzzles to help informatics gifted students learn skills to design algorithm and how to use them to solve problems. The results of pre and post test compared to traditional algorithm learning, we identified that puzzled based algorithm learning gave a positive impact to students. Students had various problem solving experience applying algorithm design skills in puzzle based learning. As a result, students of learning and learning transfer has been improved.

  • It's one of the most important problem for modern society to find the information-science gifted students and educate them systematically. However, We have only initial phase researches on this matter and a few results. This paper researches and analyzes the attitudes and attractiveness toward computers and moral senses of information-communication of the information-science gifted elementary school students. One object is analysis of 100 information-science gifted students living in Busan in respect of school grade and gender. The other object compares them to a group of 100 ordinary students and 100 high-achieving students that consists of 5th and 6th grade students from A-class elementary school of 6 local office of education in Busan. The result of this paper may help in future the research on education for the information-science gifted students.

  • The personal introduction of 2009 academic year Korea Science Academy (KSA) freshman, 143 persons, recommendation that is filled with giftedness cases and observation recording through observing the students by guidance teacher and professor, and Observation recording paper about students that is made by parents, were analyzed in order to investigate behavior characteristics of the Scientifically Gifted by Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis System (CAQDAS). We could divide behavior characteristics of the Scientifically Gifted to 5 main categories by study results. As well as this study may make up for foreign researches and existing researches dependent on quantitative research about behavior characteristics of the Scientifically Gifted, This can be used as a useful data for development of instrument for identifying the scientifically Gifted and teaching-studying program by supporting understand behavior characteristics of the Scientifically Gifted as a specific area of giftedness.

  • 본 논문에서는 소외계층 영재학생을 위한 온라인 학습 멘토링 운영 방안을 도출하였다. 소외계층 영재학생에게 필요한 맞춤형 과제, 실생활 문제, 학업 관리를 지원하기 위하여 맞춤형 과제와 피드백, 학업 상담으로 이루어진 온라인 학습 멘토링 운영 방안을 도출하였다. 맞춤형 과제에서는 소외계층 영재학생의 수준에 따라 실생활 주제를 활용한 과제를 제시하였으며, 피드백을 통하여 과제의 결과물을 평가받을 수 있도록 구성하였다. 학업 상담에서는 학업 계획 및 관리 능력을 향상시키기 위하여 전문가와 함께 상담을 진행할 수 있도록 하였다. 후속 연구에서는 온라인 학습 멘토링을 소외계층 영재학생에게 운영하고, 온라인 학습 멘토링의 효과를 분석하는 연구가 진행되어야 한다.

  • In this paper, we develop the thinking extension education program for the gifted students of information, and prove the validity and effectiveness of the proposed model by presenting the Tic-tac-toe problem as the practical example of the information-gifted students. This model consists of four phases which has the game tree as data structure and the search of game tree as control structure. And the search of game tree becomes the basis of the thinking extension education program. This model gives the help for students to learn representing the problem as tree structure and solving the problem of tree structure using the search method of game tree. The internal ability of the information-gifted for thinking extension of this education program contains the fluency, perceptiveness, originality, power of concentration, imaginative power, analyzing skills, pattern recognition, space sense, synthesizing, problem-solving.

  • 본 연구는 초등정보영재교육에 대한 설문조사를 통해 실태를 파악하고 그 개선 방안을 찾고자 하였다. 설문조사는 초등 정보영재교육 대상자의 판별 및 선발, 초등 정보영재의 교육 방법 및 교육 형태, 초등 정보영재를 위한 교육과정의 운영, 초등 정보영재 교육을 위한 지원체제의 4개영역에서 이루어졌고 실태 조사 결과를 바탕으로 초등정보영재 교육의 개선방안을 제시하였다.
