  • Finite difference schemes are considered for a generalization of the Cahn-Hilliard equation with Neumann boundary conditions and the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation with a periodic boundary condition, which is of the type $ut+\frac{{\partial}^2} {{\partial}x^2}\;g\;(u,\;u_x,\;u_{xx})=f(u,\;u_x,\;u_{xx})$. Stability and $L^{\infty}$ error estimates of approximate solutions for the corresponding schemes are obtained using the extended Lax-Richtmyer equivalence theorem.

  • A general ray tracing scheme has been developed for using a personal computer which trace finite rays through any non-rotationally symmetric system. This scheme may be used for the surface type such as conic section with or without aspherics, toric surfaces, sagittal and tangential cylindrical sections and axicons. Specially, any combinational of decentered, tilted and rotated surfaces has been considered. Before transfering to the next surfaces, the local coordinates are refered back to an initial reference coordinate system. We can get a mathmtical model of a non-rotationally symmetrical finite ray trace running on an inexpensive personal computer.

  • This study focused on the localization of swivel type tube couplers, which all depend on imports. In this study, a computer application analysis was performed using a finite element method as a preliminary study. In the major developments related to the objective of this study, the air brake system produced by car makers represents a different in the installation point of an air tank according to the type of cars or in the length and direction of its hoses and that leads to cause lots of problems. For solving such problems, the design of the major elements in a swivel type tube coupler was analyzed using a finite element method, and its validity was also verified. In the process that verifies the validity of this study, it was necessary to investigate how much external force affects the desorption of the tube support, which is the most important element in swivel type tube couplers. For achieving the investigation, a pressure test was implemented for the tube support according to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards(FMVSS). In the results of the pressure test, all samples satisfied the FMVSS. In addition, several tests were implemented by installing the sample of the developed swivel type tube coupler to an actual vehicle. In particular, rotation tests with various angles were applied by welding the swivel type coupler to an air tank through an argon welding process. In the results of the installing test for an actual vehicle, it was verified that the designed structure was determined as a structure that is able to endure the eccentric torque and deformation pressure applied to several directions that are the major problems in such fixed type tube couplers. Therefore, in the comparison of the performance of the developed product with the product of PARKER, it was possible to verify that the localized swivel type tube coupler developed in this study shows more excellent than that of the existing products by PARKER.

  • This study evaluated the influence of the type of restoration and the amount of interdental spacing on the stress distribution in maxillary central incisors restored by means of porcelain laminate veneers and direct composite resin restorations. Three-dimensional finite element models were fabricated to represent different types of restorations. Four clinical situations were considered. Type I, closing diastema using composite resin. Labial border of composite resin was extended just enough to cover the interdental space; Type II, closing diastema using composite resin without reduction of labial surface. Labial border of composite resin was extended distally to cover the half of the total labial surface; Type III, closing diastema using composite resin with reduction of labial surface. Labial border of the preparation and restored composite resin was extended distally two-thirds of the total labial surface; Type IV, closing diastema using porcelain laminate veneer with a feathered-edge preparation technique. Four different interdental spaces (1.0, 2.0. 3.0, 4.0 mm) were applied for each type of restorations. For all types of restoration, adding the width of free extension of the porcelain laminate veneer and composite resin increased the stress occurred at the bonding layer. The maximum stress values observed at the bonding layer of Type IV were higher than that of Type I, II and III. However, the increasing rate of maximum stress value of Type IV was lower than that of Type I, II and III.

  • Let $F_q$ denote the finite field of order $q = p^n$, p a prime. A polynomial $f \in F_q[x]$ is called a permutation polynomial over $F_q$ if f induces a 1-1 map of $F_q$ onto itself.

  • Let M be a complete Riemannian manifold and let N be a Riemannian manifold of non-positive sectional curvature. Assume that $Ric^M{\geq}-\frac{4(p-1)}{p^2}{\mu}_0$ at all $x{\in}M$ and Vol(M) is infinite, where ${\mu}_0$ > 0 is the infimum of the spectrum of the Laplacian acting on $L^2$-functions on M. Then any p-harmonic map ${\phi}:M{\rightarrow}N$ of finite p-energy is constant Also, we study Liouville type theorem for p-harmonic morphism.

  • We can find the characteristic impedances of the U-type transmission lines by finite d ifference method. In this paper, the characteristic impedances of the lines are computed by the moment method. There are 10% differences between the results of the finite difference method and those of the moment method. But when the interior conductor of the line is located at the center of the exterior conductor, the results of the moment method approache to that of analytical result when the length of outer conductor becomes in finite.

  • The objective of this study is to design a laboratory specimen for simulating residual stress of circumferential butt welding between pipes. Specimen type and method to generate residual stress were proposed based on the review of prior studies and parametric finite element analysis. To prove the proposed specimen type and loading method, the residual stress was generated using the designed specimen by applying proposed method and was measured. The measured residual stress using X-ray diffraction reasonably agreed with the results of finite element analysis considered in the specimen design. Comparison of residual strains measured at several locations on the specimen and given by finite element simulation also showed good agreement. Therefore, it is indicated that the designed specimen in this study can reasonably simulate the axial residual stress of a circumferential butt welding of pipe.

  • In this paper, we propose a viscosity iterative algorithm for approximating a common solution of finite family of variational inequality problem and fixed point problem for finite family of multi-valued type-one demicontractive mappings in real Hilbert spaces. A strong convergence result of the aforementioned problems were proved and some consequences of our result was also displayed. In addition, we discuss an application of our main result to convex minimization problem. The result presented in this article complements and extends many recent results in literature.

  • Let G be an infinite countable group and A be a finite set. If Σ ⊆ AG is a strongly irreducible subshift of finite type and 𝓖 is the local conjugacy equivalence relation on Σ. We construct a decreasing sequence 𝓡 of unital C*-subalgebras of C(Σ) and a sequence of faithful conditional expectations E defined on C(Σ), and obtain a Toeplitz algebra 𝓣 (𝓡, 𝓔) and a C*-algebra C*(𝓡, 𝓔) for the pair (𝓡, 𝓔). We show that C*(𝓡, 𝓔) is *-isomorphic to the reduced groupoid C*-algebra C*r(𝓖).
