  • As the use of robots in surgeries becomes more frequent, the registration of medical devices based on images becomes more important. This paper presents two numerical algorithms for the registration of cross-sectional medical images such as CT (Computerized Tomography) or MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) by using the geometrical information from helix or line fiducials. Both registration algorithms are designed to be used for a surgical robot that works inside a cavity of human body. This paper also reports details about the fiducial pattern that includes four helices and one line. The algorithms and the fiducial pattern were tested in various computer-simulated situations, and the results showed excellent overall registration accuracy.

  • The research interprets the principles of sampling error design for quality statistics models such as hypothesis test, interval estimation, control charts and acceptance sampling. Introducing the proper discussions of the design of significance level according to the use of hypothesis test, then it presents two methods to interpret significance by Neyman-Pearson and Fisher. Second point of the study proposes the design of confidence level for interval estimation by Bayesian confidence set, frequentist confidential set and fiducial interval. Third, the content also indicates the design of type I error and type II error considering both productivity and customer claim for control chart. Finally, the study reflects the design of producer's risk with operating charistictics curve, screening and switch rules for the purpose of purchasing and subcontraction.

  • In this paper we first present the elements of the theory of families of distributions and corresponding estimators having structual properties which are preserved under certain groups of transformations, called "Invariance Principle". The invariance principle is an intuitively appealing decision principle which is frequently used, even in classical statistics. It is interesting not only in its own right, but also because of its strong relationship with several other proposal approaches to statistics, including the fiducial inference of Fisher [3, 4], the structural inference of Fraser [5], and the use of noninformative priors of Jeffreys [6]. Unfortunately, a space precludes the discussion of fiducial inference and structural inference. Many of the key ideas in these approaches will, however, be brought out in the discussion of invarience and its relationship to the use of noninformatives priors. This principle is also applied to the problem of finding the best scale invariant estimator in the scale parameter problem. Finally, several examples are subsequently given.

  • We developed an improved method for tilt series alignment with fiducial markers in electron tomography. Based on previous works regarding alignment, we adapted the Levenberg-Marquardt method to solve the nonlinear least squares problem by incorporating a new formula for the alignment model. We also suggested a new method to estimate the initial value for inversion with higher accuracy. The proposed approach was applied to geopolymers. A better alignment of the tilt series was achieved than that by IMOD S/W. The initial value estimation provided both stability and a good rate of convergence since the new method uses all marker positions, including those partly covering the tilt images.

  • Alignment error of the BGA lithography equipment is mainly caused by the dimensional change of the BGA panel which is generated during the manufacturing processes. To minimize the alignment error, 'mark alignment' algorithm in place of 'center alignment' algorithm was proposed and the optimal solution for the algorithm was derived by simple analytic form. The developed algorithm distributes evenly the alignment error over the whole panel which was evaluated by the numerical simulation. Finally, the developed algorithm was implemented to the controller of the lithography equipment and the alignment error was measured at the fiducial mark location. From the measurement, it is also concluded that the developed alignment algorithm be effective to reduce the maximum value of alignment error.

  • In this paper, the measurement algorithm of PCB alignment error is developed using image processing. The X-Y-$\theta$ table correcting PCB alignment error is driven by drive module based on microprocessor according to calculation results obtained through image processing procedure. In order to recognize the X-Y-$\theta$ position errors, two fiducial points are marked on PCB and two cameras of ultraviolet rays types are used for detection of the points to capture exactly fiducial points under disturbance of illumination change. Through application for a practical screen printer, the precision control using the developed position control system can be realized about 2.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in table moving range and 8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in camera processing precision.

  • A new position correction method using four fiducials as reference points was developed and examined. It was aimed to calibrate nonlinear deformation by numerous error sources. A correlation for correction was derived from the geometric relationship between four fiducials and chip position. Compared with three points method, it exhibited more accurate correction, especially for inner area of a quadrilateral composed of four fiducial points. Its accuracy was found to be increased as fiducials moves outwardly within a printed circuit board (PCB) and/or as they form more rectangle-like shape As for arbitrarily nonlinear deformation, this method can be applied using more than five fiducials. In this case, local-area calibration is carried out by sectioning a board area into several rectangular are as.

  • The goal of this study is to propose a precision improvement scheme for long baseline determination based on the use of IGS ephemeris and different cutoff angles. It is also to present the adjustment results of ’96 Korea GPS fiducial network. In order to obtain more accurate coordinates in precise geodetic surveying, the revision of specification is necessary for the field operation and procedure of baseline processing.

  • Estimation and removal procedures for baseline drift have been developed using linear, cubic spline, and bilineared transformed high pass filter. Linear and cubic spline interpolation with the PQ and TP segmens, which are considered to be isoelectric, as fiducial points ahve been estimated respectively. For a quantitative validation of the estimation procedure, 4 ECGs with arfificial baseline drift were constructed and analyzed by mean square error calculations and amplitude histograms. Also real ECGs were analyzed in a test set of the CSE data set 3 and set 4. Baseline drift detecton rule were designed and new method for the decision of fiducial point were constructed to avoid distorting as the case of premature ventricular or atrial contraction. From these comparison, proposed cubic spline method with PQ and TP segment (CS_PQ & TP) emerged as the most efficient method.
