  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the rate of opening windows that makes residents of a flat-type apartment feel pleasant in summer time. A few conditions were simulated on the wind flow that pass through internal and external spaces of the flat-type apartment, utilizing CFX program. The simulation was made with the criteria for the rates of opening window at 20%, 50%, 70% and 100%. When the rate of window opening was more 50%, the wind speed(more than 1m/s) that makes the residents feel pleasant was observed in more 60% of the internal space. When the all windows of the apartments were opened, the heat island phenomenon was almost disappeared and the pleasant wind flow was more evenly distributed in the external spaces. If residents of apartments recognize the result of this study and practice in agrement on opening windows in summer, it is expected to contribute to minimizing the energy consumption for air conditioning.

  • Modern persons should do many activities during limited time. In such situation, people feel time pressure because they think that time is short. Time pressure affects negatively several factors such as satisfaction and intention to use through perceived time cost. Ubiquity, an mobile service's characteristic in which users can use desired information or services in anywhere and anytime, would let users feel free from time pressure. This study examines the relationship between perceived time and intention to use and the moderating effect of ubiquity. We performed a survey for users of DMB service, a representative mobile service. Using Partial Least Square, we tested hypotheses. The results suggest that time pressure influences positively perceived time cost and that perceived time cost affects negatively satisfaction but not enjoyment. And the results show that there are the significant positive relationships between enjoyment and intention to use and between satisfaction and intention to use. Finally, the moderating effects of ubiquity on the relationships between perceived time cost and enjoyment and between perceived time cost and satisfaction was found to be positive and significant. We suggests implications basing on the results.

  • Purpose While new versions of mobile applications could offer users better computing environment, users are not always comfortable with them for various reasons. Considering making update decisions is important task for users, it is crucial for us to understand users' behavior and attitude on app updates. The purpose of this study is to explain why mobile users succumb to both reactance toward the update and satisfaction to the current version, ultimately leading them to feel the regret by employing three theoretical perspectives including regret theory, status quo bias theory and the dual model. Design/methodology/approach Survey data collected from 204 mobile users was used to test the research model using partial least squares analysis. The results have shown that both reactance toward the update and satisfaction to the current version have negative impacts on individuals' decisions to update, which leading to their regret after updating the applications Findings By integrating both status quo bias and regret theory in the model, this study tried to explain why mobile users feel regret in application update settings. More specifically, this study has proposed a novel framework that introduces an individual's update decision on mobile applications.

  • A bunch of management studies have repeatedly revealed that the extent of knowledge sharing across organization contributes significantly to the firm's sustainable competitiveness. However, in reality, it is a hard fact that we must admit that many individuals working in competitive situations always feel reluctant to share knowledge. Especially, positive and negative emotions play an important role in changing individual' s intentions about knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization as well. Intention about knowledge sharing is usually hindered by in-group rivalries. Also employees feel negative in sharing their knowledge with colleagues when they expect to receive little support and recognition in return after doing that. These considerations point out the importance of individual's knowledge sharing and the role of knowledge management in order to assure competitiveness. Considering these facts, the main purpose of this study is to investigate why people is willing or unwilling to share their knowledge with others and utilize the knowledge in the competitive context where potential rivalry is still expected. In answering these research issues, we analyzed 258 valid questionnaires garnered from online community where a number of people has been actively interacting with registered members to share crucial knowledge about sensitive issues. Results revealed that the proposed research issues are adequately solved with significant statistical results.

  • Patients who had claustrophobia tend to feel fear when they were scanned by an MRI, CT, PET-CT, or using a gamma camera scan. In this paper, claustrophobic patients were tested to find effective ways by changing patient's positions. For this paper, PET-CT scan in patients who had claustrophobia were used in the prone position. Prone position helped to maintain stable position and to get a h0igh quality of inspection without failure. Thus, as claustrophobic patients were requested taking prone position, they could feel comfortable. In a confined space, prone position for the claustrophobic patients who had a fear of the PET-CT examination would be expected to reduce the failure rate of inspection.

  • A hybrid ventilation system was introduced to predict the ventilation performance of the apartments. This ventilation system was composed of the natural supply-air inlet and the forced exhaust-air outlet. Analysis was conducted by CFD technique and was performed on three ventilating flow rates; 30, 60, 120 $m^3/h$. As the results, residents feel comfortable thermally and in air flow conditions for 60 $m^3/h$. But the case of 30 $m^3/h$ shows 1100ppm of $CO_2$ concentration due to the deficient of air flow rate. In the case of 120 $m^3/h$, however, residents feel uncomfortable thermally and in air currents. In this study the energy saving for space heating is also an important factor. A detailed prediction for more complicated whole apartment space will be investigated in the future.

  • An attempt has been made to prove the so-called 'feature accumulation theory'. It is the theory describing that people tend to feel the same space with more identifiable objects much larger than that with fewer objects. Applying this theory to our cognition of spatial size, this paper made an experiment. Students were asked that if the lecture room they are sitting becomes a module (module 1), then how large are the questioned spaces in the campus. The result was striking. Through the mental image processing, they answered that the library and the architecture building looks much smaller than they actually are, and more surprisingly the basketball field much more smaller than it really is. This experiment shows that there is a strong tendency by which people regard the space much larger when there are more occupiable or behavior-causing elements in the space. In the case of basketball field, since there is nothing that can be occupied, this open space is seen as a small space for the subjects. This line of cognitive perception can be applied to the practice of urban planning and architectural planning. With the same size of given space, we can make it feel more rich and larger.

  • The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between sin and grace represented in The Power and the Glory. This work is composed of two thriller patterns of the pursuer and the pursed. The first pursuit is that the whisky priest, the representative of religious order is pursued by the lieutenant, the representative of secular order. And the second pursuit is that the whisky priest is trying to escape from God. In the course of his flight from God the whisky priest discovers his sinful nature and this self-recognition helps him restore his proper relationship with God. When he was a young priest he had religious piety, but he didn't feel true love for others. Ironically, after he is corrupted he finds his sinful nature and regrets his wrong behavior. He then comes to understand God's will and his responsibility to have love for the miserable human beings. The whisky priest is willing to accept his destiny as a martyr, after having repented his sins to God. Though the lieutenant captures the whisky priest and executes him, he doesn't feel triumph or hope but feels empty. The Power and the Glory shows us the irony that the lieutenant's power is a symbol of his weakness, while the priest's weakness is a symbol of his power.

  • This study was performed for 235 caddies of 5 membership golf clubs in Jeonnam area to find out their attitude and usage, satisfaction and preference on uniforms $1^{st}\;to\;15^{th}$ February 2007. The result of the study could be summarized as fellows. First, 69.7% of them affirm in the inquiry of 'to feel belong' and 'to tell from others', but they showed low affirmation in other inquiries. In the case of satisfaction of wearing uniforms, they show low satisfaction in most categories such as design, color, materials, activity, and symbol. Second, the most favored color coordination is the two color coordination in the upper and bottom uniform, and the fevered design pattern is the no-pattern one with single color. The favored uniform constitutes a jacket and a trouser in spring through fall, and a parka long enough to hip line, a polo neck, a vest, and a trouser in winter Third, activity is the most important considering factor in the choice of uniform and is also the most improve-wanted factor in the presently wearing uniform. The most important factor in the characteristic of material is absorption of sweat, but there is especially high dissatisfaction in absorption. It shows that there are demands of functional design considering caddies' working environment and activities. Differentiated from other normal uniforms, the uniform should be improved for caddies to develop their specialty and to feel wearing satisfaction.
