Turbulent mixing field with recirculating flow which is formed by injecting gaseous fuel on the main air stream is solved numerically by a finite difference method. The turbulence model for obtaining transport properties was k-.epsilon. model, which was obtained from turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate. Considering the effects of streamline curvature, modified k-.epsilon model was used. Generally, Modified k-.epsilon. model makes better predictions than standard model, and from this result, it is recognized that standard model has deficiency when applied to turbulent recirculating flows, and that modified k-.epsilon. model takes into account of streamline curvature effects properly. Meanwhile, A more study will be necessary to find the reason why large differences between predicted and experimental turbulent kinetic energy exist.
We have derived the general transfer equation for governing the continuity, energy transfer, mass and momentum transfer, and turbulent energy dissipation rate within the fire compartment which has the 800t fire source at the center of the floor. The governing transfer equations have been descretized using the finite volume approach and numerically experimented under the SIMPLE algorithm. In order for the SIMPLE algorithm approach to be physically reliable, the test results are compared with those of Morita's SOR Method using Conjugate Residual Method and found to be close to physical values though the computational convergence time still remains to be upgraded. The treatment of source terms in the system of finite difference equations has been critical in order to converge the governing equations within the appropriate time steps. The criteria of convergence allowance for the whole domain have been checked and the sudden change of the non-linear effects from the source term have been avoided. The criteria has been allowed to be for 5$\times$10$^{-5}$ .

This study is an analysis of the turbulent diffusion flame with swirl flow and the calculated results are compared with experimental data in case of various swirl numbers and air-fuel rations. The mathematical model is restricted to single-phase, diffusion controlled combustion with swirl flow. Values of local flow properties were obtained by solving appropriate differential equation for continuity, momentum, stagnation enthalpy, concentration, turbulence energy, dissipation rate of turbulence energy, and the mean square of concentration fluctuation. The method is proposed for calculating the local probability of chemical reaction based on the use of the probability density function for the mixture fraction.
In this paper, a modification of PISO algorithm based on standard k-ε turbulence model was proposed. The numerical technique used in this research is finite volume method, hybrid scheme for discretizing convection term, Euler implicit scheme for discretizing time term, and non-staggered grid. The basic idea of the modification of PISO algorithm is to perform an additional corrector stage for turbulence kinetic energy and dissipation rate to correct the inconsistence of flow and turbulence. In order to validate this algorithm, simulation of flow around a square cylinder (Re=3000) was performed in two-dimensional case. The results obtained from the proposed scheme show better agreement with those from the experiment than using original PISO algorithm in coherent velocity field.
Energy dissipations in a general PHE flow are the compounded effects of the piled corrugate geometries and its wall pressure and temperature distributions. In addition, although the exchangers are substantial pieces of engineering equipment, they are composed of a very large number of nominally identical and small geometrical elements. In the present numerical study, the three-dimensionally complicated energy dissipation fields and those wall-shape-induced flow destabilization are investigated in the cross-corrugated passages, which result in high energy transports with comparatively low pressure drop. We revealed the critical conditions as $Re=157.3 for the wall-shape-induced flow destabilization in a general PHE element by initial value method, or shooting method, and compare its value to that of analytical solution of plane Poiseille flow, two-dimensional grooved flow and so on. We also observed the detailed variation of flow field and energy transportation with changes in time and flow variables such as Reynolds number. Lastly, we considered the flow natural frequency, or Strouhal number, with variation of hydrodynamic conditions for the best use of active control, such as forced mass flow rate pulsative flow, to enhance energy transportation.
The purpose of this study is to optimize the parameters related to consensus coherency within the PCL 1300, the operating program of wind profiler, from a validation of wind data between rawinsonde and wind profiler at Chupungryeong ($36^{\circ}13^{\prime}$, $127^{\circ}59^{\prime}$) site in Korea. It is then to analyze the diurnal and seasonal characteristics of the turbulence energy dissipation rate (${\varepsilon}$) in clear and rainy days from March 2009 to February 2010. In comparison of the wind data between wind profiler and rawinsonde during April 22-23, 2010, it was shown in a big error more than $10ms^{-1}$ over the height of 3,000 meters in the zonal (u) and meridional (v) wind components. When removing more than $10ms^{-1}$ in each wind speed difference of u an v components between the two instruments, the correlation coefficients of these wind components were 0.92 and 0.88, respectively, and the root mean square errors were 3.07 and $1.06ms^{-1}$. Based on these results, when the data processing time and the minimum available data within the PCL 1300 program were adjusted as 30 minutes and 60%, respectively, the bias errors were small. In addition, as a result of an analysis of sensitivity to consensus coherency of u and v components within the PCL1300 program, u components were underestimated in radial coherency, instantaneous and winbarbs coherency, whereas v components were overestimated. Finally by optimizing parameters of the PCL1300 program, the diurnal and seasonal means of ${\varepsilon}$ at each height were higher in rainy days than those in clear days because of increasing in the vertical wind speed due to upward and downward motions. The mean ${\varepsilon}$ for clear and rainy days in winter was lower than those of other seasons, due to stronger horizontal wind speed in winter than those in other seasons. Consequently, when the turbulence energy dissipation rates in the vertical wind speed of more than ${\pm}10cm\;s^{-1}$ were excluded for clear and rainy days, the mean ${\varepsilon}$ in rainy days was 6-7 times higher than that in clear days, but when considering them, it was 4-5 times higher.

The nonlinear low-Reynolds-number k..epsilon. model of park and Sung is extended to predict the turbulent heat transports in separated and reattaching flows. The equations of the temperature variance( $k_{\theta}$ and its dissipation rate(.epsilon.$_{\theta}$ are solved, in concert with the equations of the turbulent kinetic energy(k) and its dissiation rate(.epsilon). In the present model, the near-wall effect and the non-equilibrium effect are fully taken into consideration. The validation of the model is then applied to the turbulent flow behind a backward-facing step and the flow over a blunt body. The predicted results of the present model are compared and evaluated with the relevant experiments.
This paper describes a 10-bit 75-MHz CMOS current-mode DAC designed for 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ double-poly double-metal CMOS technology. This D/A converter is implemented using a current cell matrix that can drive a resistive load without output buffer. In the DAC. a current source is proposed to reduce the linearity error caused by the threshold-voltage variations over a wafer and the glitch energy caused by the time lagging, The integral and differential linearity error are founded to be within $\pm$0.35 LSB and $\pm$0.31 LSB respectively. The maximum conversion rate is about 80 MS/s. The total power dissipation is 160 ㎽ at 75 MS/s conversion rate.

This research provides machine designers with some intuition to consider both, magnetic and heat transfer effects. A topological multi-objective function includes magnetic energy and heat inflow rate to the system, which equals to the total heat dissipation by conduction and convection. For the thermal field regarding the heat inflow, introduced as a reaction force, topology design sensitivity is derived by employing discrete equations. The adjoint variable method is used to avoid numerous sensitivity evaluations. As a numerical example, a C-core design excited by winding current demonstrates the strength of the multi-physical approach.

High-quality colloidal CdSe/ZnS (core/shell) is synthesized using a continuous microreactor. The particle size of the synthesized quantum dots (QDs) is a function of the precursor flow rate; as the precursor flow rate increases, the size of the QDs decreases and the band gap energy increases. The photoluminescence properties are found to depend strongly on the flow rate of the CdSe precursor owing to the change in the core size. In addition, a gradual shift in the maximum luminescent wave (${\lambda}_{max}$) to shorter wavelengths (blue shift) is found owing to the decrease in the QD size in accordance with the quantum confinement effect. The ZnS shell decreases the surface defect concentration of CdSe. It also lowers the thermal energy dissipation by increasing the concentration of recombination. Thus, a relatively high emission and quantum yield occur because of an increase in the optical energy emitted at equal concentration. In addition, the maximum quantum yield is derived for process conditions of 0.35 ml/min and is related to the optimum thickness of the shell material.
