  • A control system was developed for raw material yards of the works of a metal industry. It is devoted to the automatic operations of the raw material yards stackers, and to the improvement of the stacking method to stack granular coal uniformly. The system automatically controls the stacking operations without human intervention, and also prevents any collision between cranes, stackers, jibloaders and the level-roughing cranes.

  • In this paper, we propose the design method of distributed control system using Controller Area Network (CAN). CAN is an advanced serial communication protocol for distributed real-time control systems. It is a contention-based multi-master network whose timeliness properties come from its collision resolution algorithm which gives a high schedulable utilization and guaranteed bus access latency. With proposed method using CAN, we apply to robot controller. The effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by the simulation and experiment.

  • RC(Remote Control)기술들은 CE(Consumer Electronics)들에게 사용자의 명령을 전달하고 편리하게 제어할 수 있도록 해주는 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 제약사항들을 해결하기 위해, 스마트폰 단말에 RF4CE 표준을 지원하는 R-URC(Smartphone based RF4CE Universal Remote Control Framework) URC 프레임워크를 제안한다.

  • In this paper, a speed sensorless control for an ultrasonic motor (USM) using a neural network (NN) is presented. In the proposed method, rotor speed is estimated by a three-layer NN which adapts nonlinearities associated with load torque and motor temperature into control. The intrinsic properties of a USM, such as high torque for low speeds, high static torque, compact size, etc., offer great advantages for industrial applications. However, the speed property of a USM has strong nonlinear properties associated with motor temperature and load torque, which make accurate speed control difficult. These properties are considered in designing a control method through the application of mathematical models. In these strategies, a detailed speed model of the USM is required which makes actual applications impractical. In the proposed method, a three-layer NN estimates the speed of the USM from the drive frequency, the root mean square value of input voltage and the surface temperature of the USM, where no mechanical speed sensor is needed. The NN speed based estimator enables inclusion of variations in driving conditions due to input signals of the NN involved during the driving state of the USM. The disuse of sensors offers many advantages on both the cost and maintenance front. Moreover, the model free sensorless control method offers practical controller construction within a small number of parameters. To validate the proposed speed sensorless control method for a USM, experiments have been executed under several conditions.

  • Accurate and quick positioning of the throttle valve in driving situation is required to implement the Traction Control System(TCS). Also, unlike a conventional throttle valve which is connected to the accelerator directly by a wire, an Electronic Throttle Valve(ETV) is driven by a DC motor and can move dependently upon the accurate position of the accelerator. In the research, the Electronic Throttle Body(ETB) and Controller for TCS application was developed. In order to drive the DC motor, the developed controller was built and interfaced to the ECU and ETB. The PID position control algorism and developed systems are designed to realize the robust tracking control of the ETV. Actual vehicle tests with these systems and PID position control algorithm. Finally, the performance of the proposed those are evaluated with the experimental studies.

  • In this paper, a single-phase PFC (Power Factor Correction) dual boost converter based on input voltage estimation is studied for DC inverter air conditioner. It is focused on improving input power factor and power quality to satisfy the recent harmonic current regulation standards. Furthermore the input voltage estimation is introduced for price competitive products. A low cost and reasonable control system is implemented using a specified high-speed 32-bit microprocessor. Their effectiveness are verified through theoretical analysis and experiments.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy speed tracking controller and a fuzzy rotor angular acceleration observer for a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) based on the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The proposed observer-based controller is robust to load torque variations since it utilizes rotor angular acceleration information instead of the load torque value. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) sufficient conditions are given to compute the gain matrices of the speed tracking controller and the observer. In addition, it is mathematically verified that the proposed observer-based control system is asymptotically stable. Simulation and experimental results are presented to confirm that the proposed control algorithm assures a better transient behavior and less sensitivity under model parameter variations than the conventional PI control method.

  • In this paper, a control method for field weakening region of induction machine drive which is based on indirect field oriented control was implemented. Also, application method of direct field oriented control in the field weakening region using maximum torque control methods which is adaptable for parking facilities was studied. The implemented method which is based on direct field oriented control method ensures the full utilization of the output torque capability of the machine over the conventional 1/${\omega}_r$ method. And machine drive system can obtain the robustness to motor parameter variation.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy adaptive speed controller that guarantees a fast dynamic behavior and a precise trajectory tracking capability for surfaced-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs). The proposed fuzzy adaptive control strategy is simple and easy to implement. In addition, the proposed speed controller is very robust to system parameter and load torque variations because it does not require any accurate parameter values. The global stability of the proposed control system is analytically verified. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy adaptive speed controller, both simulation and experimental results are shown under motor parameter and load torque variations on a prototype SPMSM drive system.

  • An improved nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented A quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived Using this model, to overcome the drawbacks of conventional nonlinear control scheme, the improved nonlinear control scheme which employs time delay control (TDC) scheme is proposed. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulation studies are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.
