노인의료복지시설 종사자들의 근무환경과 관리자 신뢰, 서비스 질과의 구조적 관계 (Structural Relationship between Working Environment, Manager's Trust, and Service Quality of Workers in Elderly Medical Welfare Facilities)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 노인의료복지시설 종사자들의 근무환경과 관리자 신뢰, 그리고 서비스 질과의 구조적 관계를 분석하기 위하여 연구 모델을 설정하고 이를 규명하는데 있다. 그 결과 첫째, 노인의료복지시설 종사자들의 근무환경과 서비스 질 간에 유의한 인과관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인의료복지시설 종사자들의 근무환경과 관리자 신뢰는 유의한 인과관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 노인의료복지시설의 목표 달성과 서비스 질 향상을 위해서는 구성원들의 근무환경 조성과 신뢰관계 형성이 선행적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다. 아울러 노인의료복지시설 종사자들의 역량 함양과 질 높은 서비스를 제공하기 위해서 관리자들은 구성원들의 개인 특성을 이해하고, 역할에 따른 임무를 부여하기 위하여 정확한 업무 분장과 인사관리가 필요 할 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 코로나 19 이후 노인복지관 종사자의 직무스트레스가 직무만족에 미치는 영향에서 소진의 매개효과를 실증 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 사회복지서비스 질 향상과 함께 노인복지관 종사자의 직무만족을 높일 수 있는 기초자료 제공을 본 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구 결과 첫째, 직무스트레스는 직무만족에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 소진은 직무스트레스가 직무만족에 미치는 영향에서 부분 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같이 제언하였다. 첫째, 노인복지관 종사자의 직무스트레스를 줄이기 위해 업무량을 조절과 사물인터넷 기술의 활용이다. 둘째, 노인복지관 종사자의 소진을 줄이기 위해 심리·정서적 지원 프로그램을 제공해야 한다.

  • This study investigates the working conditions of shift workers according to age group by analyzing the sixth Korean Working Conditions Survey's data. A total of 1,323 shift workers were extracted from the dataset. Three age groups (A: 20s-30s, B: 40s-50s, C: 60s and above) were statistically compared in terms of health problems, emotional hazard exposure, work-life imbalance, and satisfaction with working conditions. Elderly shift workers (those in their 60s and above) had significantly more severe health problems and work-life imbalance, greater exposure to emotional hazards, and lower satisfaction with working conditions than young shift workers (those in their 20s-50s). The study's findings reveal the characteristics of working conditions for elderly shift workers and would be useful for improving shift workers' quality of life, as well as safety and productivity in the workplace.

복합만성질환을 가진 고령근로자 직업건강간호의 과제 (A Challenge in Occupational Health Nursing among Elderly Workers with Multimorbidity)

  • Purpose: Multimorbidity is defined as the coexistence of multiple chronic diseases within a person. This study explores the burden of multimorbidity in the working population, focusing on the recent increase in elderly workers in Korea. Methods: We summarized past empirical or theoretical literature. Results: Previous literature shows that about 80% of the elderly are multimorbid, and more than half of people with chronic disease have two or more chronic conditions. Multimorbidity is a common phenomenon in the elderly working population. However, little is known about its prevalence, the factors related to its unequal distribution among workers, and its effects on health outcome measures such as mortality, medical use, and employment decisions. Conclusion: This study asks researchers to focus on a subgroup analysis employing data on the working population. Health professionals need to develop clinical guidelines for multimorbid patients. As multimorbidity is a major health concern in the working elderly, prevention and control should be promoted in the workplace.

Effect of Work on Medical Expenditures by Elderly: Findings From the Korean Health Panel 2008-2013

  • Background: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of work on medical expenditures by the elderly. Methods: Data pertaining to individuals aged 65 or older collected by the Korean Health Panel 2008-2013 were used. The effects of work on medical expenditures were analyzed in a panel tobit model adjusted for several variables of demographic factors, socioeconomic factors, and health factors for health care. Data were also analyzed based on age groups (65-74, $75{\leq}$), type of work (waged or self-employed), and working time (daytime work or night time work). Results: Among the elderly older than 65 years, 34-37% were workers. Work among the elderly reduced medical expenditures relative to nonworking elderly. Specifically, medical expenditures were lower in individuals older than 75 years, as well as among those who were self-employed insured and had medical aid insurance and those who exercised. However, medical expenditures were higher among females, married individuals, those with a higher household income, and those with a chronic disease. Elderly wageworkers showed reduced medical expenditures than nonworking elderly and elderly daytime workers did. Conclusion: The elderly population's work, especially wage work and daytime work, reduced medical expenditures relative to no work. These results provide valuable information for policymakers by indicating that work was associated with lower medical expenditures than no work. If elderly work is to be encouraged, it is necessary to provide a variety of high-quality wage work.

코로나19 대유행 시 일 노인요양시설에 종사하는 요양보호사의 직무경험에 대한 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Experiences of Long Term Care Facility Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of those who take care of the elderly at a long-term care facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Colaizzi's phenomenological research method was applied to describe the meaning and nature of the experiences of eight workers in an elderly care facility during the COVID-19 crisis. Results: Studies have shown that these workers experienced 'fear from infectious disease' and had the opportunity to 'reflect upon life changed by infectious disease.' They also worked together to overcome the crisis by 'protect nursing home with the nurses at COVID-19 sites' and felt 'safety from the nursing home,' and experienced 'a strong sense of calling for the job' through the crisis. Conclusion: This study is the first of its kind conducted in Korea on workers in an elderly care facility. The results indicate that it is necessary to supports these workers with practical useful education, counseling, and emotional support during the epidemic.

노인의료서비스의 질적 제고를 위한 시설종사자 관리의 효율화 방안 (The Efficient Management Method about the Workers of the Welfare Facilities for Improving the Quality of Elderly Medical Service)

  • 이 연구는 노인의료복지서비스의 질적 제고를 위해 노인의료복지시설 소속 종사자들을 대상으로 관리의 변수들 간의 구조적인 관계를 살펴보기 이전에 시설유형에 따른 자기효능감과 직무만족에 대한 요양보호사들의 주관적 인식의 차이를 분석해 보고자 하였다. 실증분석결과 요양보호사들이 근무하는 노인의료복지시설 유형에 따른 인식의 차이는 없었지만 전체적으로 요양보호사들의 자기효능감과 직무만족의 충족이 노인의료서비스 제공에 있어서 중요하다는 것을 강조하였다. 따라서 이 연구는 노인의료복지시설 종사자 관리의 효율화 방안을 위한 이론적 기초를 제공하였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

A Study on the Perception Level and Proper Management of Indoor Air Quality Recognition in Elderly Care Hospital Workers

  • 본 연구에서는 노인요양병원의 실내공기질 관리계획을 제안하고자 노인요양병원의 실내공기질 수준을 측정하고 근무자의 실내공기질에 대한 인식에 대하여 조사하였다. 측정 항목은 온도, 습도, CO2, CO, PM10, VOC이며 2019년 4월 26일에 실시하였다. 설문 조사에 따르면 실내 공기질에 대한 만족도가 낮을수록 실외 공기질이 더 좋다고 응답하였으며 실내환경 요소 중 악취가 가장 낮은 것으로 응답하였으며 실내 공기질의 만족도가 높을 경우 실내환경 요소의 만족도도 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 다중응답 분석결과 "환기 부족"이었고 회귀 분석 결과 "공기질 관련성" 항목이 가장 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 노인 요양 병원의 실내 공기질 환경을 최고 수준으로 유지하려면 냄새를 제거하기 위한 환기 장지를 추가로 설치하고 자연 환기 횟수를 늘리고 정기적인 환기담당자를 지정해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 계획을 수립함으로써 노인요양병원 근무자에게 최상의 서비스를 제공하기 위한 실내 공기질 환경을 제공 할 수 있다.

재가노인 방문요양보호사의 낙상관련 대처 경험에 관한 연구 (A Case Study on Care Workers' Experiences of Coping with Falls among Community-Dwelling Elders)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experience and meaning of falls among care workers caring for the elderly. Methods: The participants comprised 10 care workers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The data collection period was from September to November 2020, and the data were obtained through individual in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the content analysis method of qualitative research. The main interview questions were as follows: First, in the event of a fall, "can you tell us about your experience and how you dealt with the fall?; second, "can you tell us about your role and the role of family members or the center that manages falls that occur outside of nursing visits.", third, "can you tell us about the difficulties in managing falls based on your experience?", and fourth, "how are falls that occur during nursing visits managed?" Results: As a result of analyzing the experiences of nursing care workers of falls while caring for elders in their homes, five main themes were derived. These were understanding the characteristics of the elderly at home, understanding possible emergency situations, providing caring services, minimizing physical harm, and delivering clear information. Conclusion: A significant finding of this study was that care workers who visit and provide care to elders at home confirmed the need for standard guidelines on appropriate responses in the event of a fall at home and the importance of managing emergencies arising from falls among elders at home. These results highlight the need for the development of emergency response education programs, such as programs on fall care among nurses and care workers who provide care to the elderly, and for enhanced understanding of the fall risk of elders who live at home.

취업노인의 특성 연구 - 취업상태변화를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Employed Elderly - Focusing on Employment Status Transition -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze in detail the employment characteristics of the elderly over 65 years old and to compare those that have experienced no job change in the last 10 years with another group that have experienced job change at least once in the last 10 years. From the 10th wave data(KLIP), participants who were over 65 years old were chosen and their employment status for the last 10 years was reviewed. The results of this study were as follows: first, the analysis of demographic profiles indicated that householders and elderly couples with low education levels and low socioeconomic status were more likely to be employed compared to others. Second, in terms of work-related characteristics, it was revealed that the elderly who were employed tended to be non-paid workers, employers, and self-employed workers, primarily in the farming, fishing, forestry, and the mining industries, these were the elderly workers who had experienced job change three times or more in the last 10 years. Third, the analysis of economic characteristics indicated that elderly who were employed tended to rely more on private income transfers. Last, when the elderly who had experienced no job change in the last 10 years were compared to the elderly who had experienced job change in the last 10 years, the two groups differed significantly in terms of employment status, type of business, and occupation category.
