  • In this paper, it is suggested that the elements constituting the gay empire are similar to the main pedagogical concept of John Dewey, a representative educational philosopher. I analyzed some factors that make up the concept of gamification by connecting them with the following five attributes. Continuity, interaction, interest, growth, and educational experience are the main factors that contribute to sustainability. Based on the theoretical analysis of the main concept, I try to find out the relation between the game and education, and understand the meaning of the gamification, not the game.

  • Character dance not only improves the expressive power of ballet majors, dancer and choreographers but also breathes life into the performance. Character dance, which has comprehensive educational implications, was difficult to conduct research due to lack of materials and incompleteness in the field of ballet education. Even popular concepts were not established. In order to establish the meaning of the character dance, this research examined the history of character dance from the Middle Ages to the present and the meaning and the category were also schematized. Also, I tried to find out the direction of development. Character dance through systematic categories and meaning establishment can provide extended educational forms to infants and children as well as dance majors and non-majors. This research of character dance is expected to provide basic materials not only for the ballet education but also for the various educations. Lastly, the author of this research is expecting that detailed researches will be conducted in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how a mathematics teacher and a high school student make the meaning in a graph and how aspects of the interpretation of a graph are interacted during the signification process, and to suggest considerations for teaching and learning of a graph. The findings of a case study have led to conclusions as follows: All of them have a difficulty in making the meaning in a graph and construct the meaning as a nested signification model. In the process which they make the meaning, they interrelate cognitive, contextual, and affective aspects and construct interpretants. In this process, a teacher focuses on cognitive aspect, based on a qualitative approach. But a student considers contextual aspect more, based on a quantitative approach. This study suggests three considerations for teaching and learning of a graph.

  • This study aimed to explore the meanings of fathers' experiences as they participated in educational programs for fathers. In-depth interviews with 3 fathers with children attending elementary school and middle school were implemented to examine their participation experiences in educational programs for fathers and their expectations for educational programs for fathers. The findings of this study showed that fathers wanted opportunities to carry out more active roles with their children instead of passive father roles. They learned interaction with their children and wives through participating in educational programs. The education programs impart a broader perspective and knowledge of father roles, and participation may encourage improvement of their relationships with their children and wives. They felt the importance of father roles in educational programs, which helps a father be a good father. But, they complained about harsh circumstances to participate in educational programs. So educational programs for fathers should be provided to all fathers that are geared to the level and need of each father. Further studies for more revelatory documentation were also suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose evaluation factors for elementary school facility in terms of educational adequacy. The focal point of this study is to clarify the proper measure of educational facility evaluation in the light of specific characteristics of facility. In order to improve the level of educational adequacy, more information is needed regarding school facility design and various factors which affect to the design. This is important works because such information is essential in implementing facility design to meet the needs of the new educational policy. To get the goal, first, it is attempted to analyse the meaning of design information which deeply affect on the school facility design. The design information is classified into three main aspects, such as human aspect, social aspect and physical aspect. The design information regarding the physical space verses human psychology and behavior belongs to category of human aspect. Pedagogic ideology which varies depend upon the time and regions is classified into the category of social aspect. The Physical aspect means efficient equipment performance of space to support educational activities effectively. Secondly, as for the educational adequacy evaluation concern, it is attempted to select more items which usually has been neglected by the existing evaluation criteria which mainly emphasized functional performances only. With the premise of the above, in this paper, it is attempted to propose proper evaluation factors in terms of educational adequacy for school facilities. As the research methods, researching of literature on this subject, field trip, interview, site analysis, and survey is used.

For this, viewpoints of Nature-Study were drown by previous historical study about Nature-Study. And educational methods of Nature-Study based on viewpoints of Nature-Study were abstracted by collecting and analyzing of literatures. Meaning of Nature-Study toward today's science education was considered. The research resulted in the following; First, Nature-Study emphasize the sympathy with nature, aim for integrated subject study and include non-formal study from a viewpoint of 'studying with nature'. Second, Nature-Study aim for outdoor activities, emphasize experiences than texts, value fundamental observation from a viewpoint of 'study through first-hand experiences'. Third, Nature-Study value interest of students, support the study for all students, emphasize the teachers' role as a helper from a viewpoint of 'learner-centered education'. Nature-Study is suggested to change view of point over to science education through nature toward today's science education.

  • This study investigates the meaning, the method of "Cultivation of the fundamental" as aim of child education in context of the Xing-Li-Xue(性理學) educational theory. Chu-hsi understood the meaning of "Cultivation of the fundamental" as Ching(敬, the cultivation of good nature in human mind). The method of "Cultivation of the fundamental" consists of quiet sitting(정좌), attention(주의집중), moral environment(도덕적 환경) and practicing propriety(예의 실습). Through quiet sitting and attention, learners may reach a condition of mind which is free of their selfish desires and in which they can find out their original nature. The education in Confucianism accepts the environment as a significant element in forming human personality. Making moral environment has leaners to take good value with ease. Characteristic of study in Xing-Li-Xue is to emphasize to observe concrete clauses of propriety. The reason why Xing-Li-Xue emphasizes propriety is that Mind Study may be maintained through Body Study. In conclusion, the "Cultivation of the fundamental" in the Xing-Li-Xue is to form the power to regulate selfish desires and thus behave more moderately. Along these points, not only quiet sitting which relexes the body and soul, but also song and dance are not considered as contrary to Xing-Li-Xue educational theory. The various ways of "Cultivation of the fundamental" of Xing-Li-Xue educational theory make people recognize, understand and experience good innate nature of human beings. And we can reach the conclusion that education of Xing-Li-Xue uses so many methods that learner can accept moral value as naturally as possible.

  • Mathematics subject has been recognized as a subject in which we resolve some problematic situations through the logical and mathematical thinking according to mathematical concepts, principles, and rules. So we has focused on cultivating logical and mathematical thinking abilities when teaching and learning mathematics. However according to Bruner, we can use the narrative mode of thought which supplements the logical and scientific mode of thought when we think about logical and scientific matters, and we could make meanings by doing so. On the other hand, the Ministry of Education has announced recently that it would develope the textbooks of storytelling type of mathematics, and then many people have been interested in using stories in mathematics subject. The purposes of this article are to investigate the effects and the defects of using stories in mathematics subject, to probe the narrative characteristics of mathematics, and to inquire how using mathematics narrative can make students to make meaning about mathematics which compensates the defects of using stories in mathematics subject.
