A Design of Service Science Degree Program (서비스학 학위과정 프로그램개발 연구)

  • In this study, we conducted an exploratory study for designing service science as a degree program that will lead the 21st century. In the new era, the convergence of industries is accelerating and the mobility of the profession is greatly increased, so the talents to be trained in higher education will be greatly changed. We must cultivate human resources capable of creating their own jobs through competency development and cultivate talented individuals who can demonstrate creative initiative in the ecosystem where the boundaries between industries are dismantled. To this end, it is required to switch from the existing vertical majors and systems to horizontal majors, and service majors are expected to play a key role in this transition. In this study, we designed the service science degree program reflecting the changes of the new economy and reflecting the demand of the new education. The service science curriculum provides an analysis as it can award a degree as an independent major, or may serve as a sub-major or an associate major with existing majors. Service studies are expected to play the most effective role in cultivating the capabilities defined by the 21st century human resources in the World Economic Forum.

A Qualitative Study on the Perceptions and Learning Behavior of Medical Students in Online Classes (의과대학 학생의 온라인 수업에 대한 인식 및 학습행동에 관한 질적 연구)

  • Since the emergence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), medical schools have experienced a sudden, full-scale transition to online classes. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is important to evaluate current educational programs and to assess their implications. This study explored perceptions of online classes and learning behavior among medical students. Twenty preclinical medical students were interviewed in focus groups for 2 months. They generally expressed positive perceptions about online classes, and in particular, positively assessed the ability to lead their individual lifestyles and study in comfortable environments with fewer time and space constraints. Students thought that the online environment provided a fair chance of facilitating positive interactions with the professor and considered communication with the professor to be an important factor only when it was related to the class content or directly helped with their grades and careers. Students also had negative views, such as feeling uncertain when they could not see their peers' learning progress and assess themselves in comparison and feeling social isolation. Learning behaviors have also changed, as students explored their learning styles and adapted to the changed learning environment. Students expanded their learning by using online functions. However, students sometimes abused the online class format by "just playing" the lecture while not paying attention and relying on other students' lecture transcripts to study. The results of this study are hoped to provide a useful foundation for future research on online class-based teaching and learning.

Synthesis and Comparative Analysis of Crystallite Size and Lattice Strain of Pb2Ba1.7Sr0.3Ca2Cu3O10+δ Superconductor

  • In this article, Pb2Ba1.7Sr0.3Ca2Cu3O10+δ superconductor material was synthesized using conventional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis demonstrated one dominant phase 2223 and some impurities in the product powder. The strongest peaks in the XRD pattern were successfully indexed assuming a pseudo-tetragonal cell with lattice constants of a = 3.732, b = 3.733 and c = 14.75 Å for a Pb-Based compound. The crystallite size and lattice strain between the layers of the studied compound were estimated using several methods, namely the Scherrer, Williamson-Hall (W.H), size-strain plot (SSP) and Halder Wagner (H.W) approach. The values of crystallite size, calculated by Scherrer, W.H, SSP and H.W methods, were 89.4540774, 86.658638, 87.7555823 and 85.470086 Å, respectively. Moreover, the lattice strain values obtained by W.H, SSP and H.W methods were 0.0063240, 0.006325 and 0.006, respectively. It was noted that all crystallite size results are consistent; however, the best method is the size-strain plot because it gave a value of R2 approaching one. Furthermore, degree of crystallites was calculated and found to be 59.003321%. Resistivity analysis suggests zero-resistance, which is typical of superconducting materials at critical temperature. Four-probe technique was utilized to measure the critical temperature at onset Tc(onset), zero resistivity Tc(off set), and transition (width ΔT), corresponding to temperatures of 128 K, 116 K, and 12 K, respectively.

An Exploratory Study on the Career Competencies among the Middle-aged Employment Vulnerable Groups (중장년 고용취약계층의 경력역량 탐색 연구)

  • This study was conducted to explore the career competencies among the middle-aged employment vulnerable groups and to provide the basis for systematic career development and human resource development for the middle-aged and employment vulnerable groups. Interviews and expert advice for the middle-aged (40-64 years old) employment vulnerable groups were conducted. The main research results as follows. First, middle-aged employment vulnerable groups have different career requirements depending on their characteristics. Second, the career competencies of the middle-aged employment vulnerable group were composed five factors and 21 sub-detailed competencies including career cognitive competencies, career skill competencies, career attitude competencies, career transition competencies, and career resource management competencies. Third, as a result of the priority analysis of Borich and Locus for Focus, career goal setting, career implementation competency, employment and start-up information, job search skills were the top priorities, career identity, digital literacy, job market knowledge, and infrastructure utilization were the second priority.

Directions for Eco-friendly Utilization and Industrialization of Fishery By-products (수산부산물의 발생·처리 실태 및 산업화 방향)

  • The study aims to identify the generation and treatment of fishery by-products in Korea and suggests future directions and strategies for their eco-friendly utilization and industrialization. First, the study focuses on the identification of the generation and their treatment in Korea since merely few study were conducted and they did not provide enough information regarding the overall generation and treatment at the national level. According to the estimation, Korea generates 800 thousand to 1,200 thousand tones of fishery by-product every year. The fishery by-products generated at large seafood markets and processing facilities are used or processed as fish meal and feed, but those generated from households and small seafood restaurants are currently treated as food waste. In addition, inadequately treated fishery by-products cause various problems such as spoiling urban landscape, creating odor and incubating pest. After identifying the generation and treatment of fishery by-products, the study suggests directions for the formulation of infrastructure for transition into resource circulation society, minimization of dumped waste and their eco-friendly recycling as resources, diversification of recycled goods and development into a high-value added industry. Finally, the study suggests detailed strategies for the directions such as establishment of legal and institutional foundation, separation of fishery by-products from wastes, development of technology tailored for commercialization, introduction of pilot projects for industrialization and cultivation of social enterprises.

Teaching Assistant System using Computer Vision (컴퓨터 비전을 이용한 강의 도우미 시스템)

  • In this paper, a teaching assistant system using computer vision is presented. Using the proposed system, lecturers can utilize various lecture contents such as lecture notes and related video clips easily and seamlessly. In order to do transition between different lecture contents and control multimedia contents, lecturers just draw pre-defined symbols on the board without pausing the class. In the proposed teaching assistant system, a feature descriptor, so called shape context, is used for recognizing the pre-defined symbols successfully.

  • There are differences in manner to be shown according to a basic point of view about knowledge in division which is traditional algorithm. The 1st and 2nd stage show didactic transpositions less systemic. The 3rd stage, which were influenced by the new math, uses logical mechanism. The 4th stage shows conceptual knowledge of the division independently. The 5th and 6th stage use concrete models which shows a course. The 7th stage constitutes contents systematically and shows many chances which focus on the formation of knowledge. The suggestions derived from such transition should be considered in the practice class and an elementary mathematics textbooks for meaningful learning.

Fast Image Splicing Detection Algorithm Using Markov Features (마코프 특징을 이용하는 고속 위조 영상 검출 알고리즘)

  • Nowadays, image manipulation is enormously popular and easier than ever with tons of convenient images editing tools. After several simple operations, users can get visually attractive images which easily trick viewers. In this paper, we propose a fast algorithm which can detect the image splicing using the Markov features. The proposed algorithm reduces the computational complexity by removing unnecessary Markov features which are not used in the image splicing detection process. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using a famous image splicing dataset which is publicly available. The experimental results show that the proposed technique outperforms the state-of-the-art splicing detection methods.

Factors Associated with Stages of Exercise Behavior Change Applying the Transtheoretical Model in Upper Grade Elementary Students (범이론적 모형에 근거한 일부 초등학교 고학년 아동의 운동행위 변화단계 관련요인)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the stages of exercise behavior change after adjusting for related covariates. Methods: Participants included 362 of fourth to sixth graders in 3 elementary schools in a metropolitan city in Korea. The data were collected using structured questionnaire included Korean Stages of Change Scale for Exercise. Results: Logistic regression results showed that the motivational factors associated with transition from precontemplation to contemplation were cognitive process of change, self-reevaluation, conscious raising; regarding that from contemplation to preparation, cons of the decisional balance; regarding those from preparation to action, behavioral process, counter-conditioning, stimulus control, which were very similar to the results of previous researches subjected other age groups. But, there was no motivational factors associated with from action to maintenance, and self-efficacy had no influence on forwarding stages of change. Conclusions: TTM would be applicable to explain the exercise behavior of some children in Korea, which suggested that it be useful in developing the programs to improve physical activities of Korean school children.

Stationary and non-stationary buffeting analyses of a long-span bridge under typhoon winds

  • The buffeting response is a vital consideration for long-span bridges in typhoon-prone areas. In the conventional analysis, the turbulence and structural vibrations are assumed as stationary processes, which are, however, inconsistent with the non-stationary features observed in typhoon winds. This poses a question on how the stationary assumption would affect the evaluation of buffeting responses under non-stationary wind actions in nature. To figure out this problem, this paper presents a comparative study on buffeting responses of a long-span cable-stayed bridge based on stationary and non-stationary perspectives. The stationary and non-stationary buffeting analysis frameworks are firstly reviewed. Then, a modal analysis of the example bridge, Sutong Cable-stayed Bridge (SCB), is conducted, and stationary and non-stationary spectral models are derived based on measured typhoon winds. On this condition, the buffeting responses of SCB are finally analyzed by following stationary and non-stationary approaches. Although the stationary results are almost identical with the non-stationary results in the mean sense, the root-mean-square value of buffeting responses are underestimated by the stationary assumption as the time-varying features existing in the spectra of turbulence are neglected. The analytical results highlights a transition from stationarity to non-stationarity in the buffeting analysis of long-span bridges.
