  • Tendency prediction of daily confirmed cases is an important issue for public health authorities. To protect the tendency, we estimate the transmission rate of stochastic SEIR model for COVID-19 in Korea using particle Markov chain Monte Carlo method. The results show that the increasing and decreasing tendency of estimated transmission rate appear one or two days in advance compared to daily incidence cases, and as time evolves the standard deviation of the estimates of transmission rate reduces. Since ten months have passed since the first incident case of COVID-19 in Korea, we expect to forecast the tendency of daily confirmed cases for the next one or two days more accurately using our method.

  • In this paper, we consider the hybrid monotone projection algorithm for asymptotically quasi-pseudocontractive mappings. A strong convergence theorem is established in the framework of Hilbert spaces. Our results mainly improve the corresponding results announced by [H. Zhou, Demiclosedness principle with applications for asymptotically pseudo-contractions in Hilbert spaces, Nonlinear Anal. 70 (2009) 3140-3145] and also include Kim and Xu [T.H. Kim, H.K. Xu, Strong convergence of modified Mann iterations for asymptotically nonexpansive mappings and semigroups, Nonlinear Anal. 64 (2006) 1140-1152; Convergence of the modified Mann's iteration method for asymptotically strict pseudo-contractions, Nonlinear Anal. 68 (2008) 2828-2836] as special cases.

  • In this paper, we conduct a questionnaire survey on the actual conditions and the test on the basic scholastic ability of the students who register for the course, Introduction of Business Mathematics. We want to find the ways to improve the teaching-learning methods for this course. Especially, the registered students have difficulties in the following the course because they have not studied Calculus in their high school. So we give them several assignments on the Webwork system, an internet based homework management system, and analyze its effect on the students' scholastic achievement. And we propose a teaching-learning method suitable for the course.

  • In this paper we propose new large-update primal-dual inte-rior point algorithms for $P_*(\kappa)$ linear complementarity problems(LCPs). New search directions and proximity measures are proposed based on the kernel function$\psi(t)=\frac{t^{p+1}-1}{p+1}+\frac{e^{\frac{1}{t}}-e}{e}$,$p{\in}$[0,1]. We showed that if a strictly feasible starting point is available, then the algorithm has $O((1+2\kappa)(logn)^{2}n^{\frac{1}{p+1}}log\frac{n}{\varepsilon}$ complexity bound.

  • Let R be a ring with unity, X the set of all nonzero, nonunits of R and G the group of all units of R. We will consider some group actions on X by G, the left (resp. right) regular action and the conjugate action. In this paper, by investigating these group actions we can have some results as follows: First, if E(R), the set of all nonzero nonunit idempotents of a unit-regular ring R, is commuting, then $o_{\ell}(x)\;=\;o_r(x)$, $o_c(x)\;=\;\{x\}$ for all $x\;{\in}\;X$ where $o_{\ell}(x)$ (resp. $o_r(x)$, $o_c(x)$) is the orbit of x under the left regular (resp. right regular, conjugate) action on X by G and R is abelian regular. Secondly, if R is a unit-regular ring with unity 1 such that G is a cyclic group and $2\;=\;1\;+\;1\;{\in}\;G$, then G is a finite group. Finally, if R is an abelian regular ring such that G is an abelian group, then R is a commutative ring.

  • Jat and Choudhari defined a near-ring R with left bipotent or right bipotent condition in 1979. Also, we can dene a near-ring R as subcommutative if aR = Ra for all a in R. From these above two concepts it is natural to investigate the near-ring R with the properties aR = $Ra^2$ (resp. $a^2R$ = Ra) for each a in R. We will say that such is a near-ring with (1,2)-potent condition (resp. a near-ring with (2,1)-potent condition). Thus, we can extend a general concept of a near-ring R with (m,n)-potent condition, that is, $a^mR\;=\;Ra^n$ for each a in R, where m, n are positive integers. We will derive properties of near-ring with (1,n) and (n,1)-potent conditions where n is a positive integer, any homomorphic image of (m,n)-potent near-ring is also (m,n)-potent, and we will obtain some characterization of regular near-rings with (m,n)-potent conditions.

  • We consider a 1-dimensional reaction diffusion equation with the following boundary conditions arising in a theory of the thermal explosion {-u"(t) = λf(u(t)), t ∈ (0, l), -u'(0) + C(0)u(0) = 0, u'(l) + C(l)u(l) = 0, where C : [0, ∞) → (0, ∞) is a continuous and nondecreasing function, λ > 0 is a parameter and f : [0, ∞) → (0, ∞) is a continuous function. We establish the extension of Quadrature method introduced in [8]. Using this extension, we provide numerical results for models with a typical function of f and C in a thermal explosion theory, which verify the existence, uniqueness and multiplicity results proved in [6].

  • Extending [14], we establish the existence of multiple positive solutions for a Schrödinger-type singular elliptic equation: $$\{{-{\Delta}u+V(x)u={\lambda}{\frac{f(u)}{u^{\beta}}},\;x{\in}{\Omega}, \atop u=0,\;x{\in}{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where 0 ∈ Ω is a bounded domain in ℝN, N ≥ 1, with a smooth boundary ∂Ω, β ∈ [0, 1), f ∈ C[0, ∞), V : Ω → ℝ is a bounded function and λ is a positive parameter. In particular, when f(s) > 0 on [0, σ) and f(s) < 0 for s > σ, we establish the existence of at least three positive solutions for a certain range of λ by using the method of sub and supersolutions.

  • In this study, we aimed to develop a teacher-adaptive platform model that enhances teachers' instructional activities and teaching capabilities, allowing them to conduct intended lessons effectively. The platform is designed to support various teaching and learning activities based on the instructional situation, and additionally provides teaching and learning materials, assessment questions, and results. The developed teaching and learning platform utilized Moodle, an open-source-based LMS solution that provides various tools for online learning. The platform was specifically designed for teaching conic sections in high school geometry, and it was constructed to enable teachers to deliver their intended lessons effectively.

  • We investigate the existence of multiple positive solutions of the following elliptic equation with a Schrödinger-type term: $$\begin{cases}-{\Delta}u+V(x)u={\lambda}f(u){\quad} x{\in}{\Omega},\\{\qquad}{\qquad}{\quad}u=0, {\qquad}\;x{\in}\partial{\Omega},\end{cases}$$, where 0 ∈ Ω is a bounded domain in ℝN , N ≥ 1, with a smooth boundary ∂Ω, f ∈ C[0, ∞), V ∈ L(Ω) and λ is a positive parameter. In particular, when f(s) > 0 for 0 ≤ s < σ and f(s) < 0 for s > σ, we establish the existence of at least three positive solutions for a certain range of λ by using the method of sub and supersolutions.
