In this study, the sterilization property of E. coli was established using a plasma generator with a flexible electrode structure. The bacterial suspension was prepared based on the McFarland standard 0.50 (1.5×10⁸ CFU/mL) concentration and a specific amount was inoculated on the plate medium. After the plasma was discharged 3 cm away from the plasma generator in the range of 30s to 5 min and the results compared to the control group, the observed colonies that were formed decreased significantly as the plasma discharge time increased.

In this study the fatigue crack growth behavior was investigated for the surface cracks in aluminum alloy A5083-O plate and its weldment. Several kinds of specimens were tested at room temperature. The Eccentric specimens(E1.0, E2.5) subjected to combined stresses(tension+bending) were tested and the welded specimens with weld toes(TOE1, TOE2) were tested in order to verify the method to consider the stress concentration such as weld toe. It was ascertained that the surface crack growth property in the weld toe could be predicted by the corrected Pang's equation proposed in this study.

In order to formulate the compounded polypropylene(C-PP) which is suitable to an automotive door trim panel, 9 sorts of properties were measured after manufacturing the C-PP using an extruder and an injection machine with polypropylene(PP), ethylene-octene rubber(EOR) and talc. Mixture design, especially extreme vertices design, in DOE with MINITAB - commercial software was used to analyze the data. The relations between each property and each component, for example, $y=0.00907222x_1+0.00870556x_2+0.0155722x_3$ for specific gravity, were found out by the regression analysis and the variance analysis. The optimized formulation of the C-PP for an automotive door trim panel was acquired at PP(77.6962), EOR(11.0238) and talc(10.2800) by use of the response optimizer(mixture) in MINITAB.

The water extract of Saururus chinensis was investigated for oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), reducing capacity, metal chelating activity, and intracellular antioxidant activity using HepG2 cell. When 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH) was used for the generation of peroxyl radicals in vitro, S. chinensis extract (SC-E) showed the strong and concentration-dependent scavenging activity through donating protons which could be explained by its reducing property. When hydroxyl radicals were generated in vitro through the addition of $Cu^{2+}$ and $H_2O_2$, SC-E demonstrated the antioxidant activity depending on its concentration. In HepG2 cell model, most of intracellular oxidative stress generated by AAPH was efficiently removed by SC-E. However, when $Cu^{2+}$ without $H_2O_2$ was used as an oxidant in the intracellular assay, SC-E partially reduced the oxidative stress caused by $Cu^{2+}$ in cellular antioxidant activity assay system. These results indicate that SC-E could be utilized for the development of functional foods as antioxidant resource in the near future.

The aim of this paper is to prove a common fixed point theorem in normed linear spaces for discontinuous, occasionally weakly biased mappings without assuming completeness of the space. We give an example to illustrare our theorem. We also give an application of our theorem to best approximation theory. Our theorem improve the results of Gregus [9], Jungck [12], Pathak, Cho and Kang [22], Sharma and Deshpande [26]-[28].

In this study, a discrete time model for a simplified front wheel suspension system which has nonlinear dampling and stiffness property is introduced. The model is estimated from the discrete data which are generated based on the real car parameter. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through numerical simulation, and the simulation results show that the proposed method can estimate the nonlinear behavior of the suspension system very well.

We introduce the fractal expansions, sequences of integers associated to a number. We show that these sequences characterize the O-sequences and encode some information about lex segment ideals. Moreover, we introduce numerical functions called fractal functions, and we use them to solve the open problem of the classification of the Hilbert functions of any bigraded algebra.

Synthetic membrane processes are widely used in many industrial applications for concentrating and fractionating various components in solutions and suspensions. Advantages for using these processes include no phase change, direct separation without the use of additives, exploitation of large property differences.
