A dynamic analysis of an amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) pixel is presented using new a-Si TFT and liquid crystal (LC) capacitance models for a Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) simulator. This dynamic analysis will be useful when predicting the performance of LCDs. The a-Si TFT model is developed to accurately estimate a-Si TFT characteristics of a bias-dependent gate to source and gate to drain capacitance. Moreover, the LC capacitance model is developed using a simplified diode circuit model. It is possible to accurately predict TFT-LCD characteristics such as flicker phenomena when implementing the proposed simulation model.

Two ways can be used for dynamic condensation of viscously damped structural models. One is reducing the model in physical space at first and then transferring it to state space. The other is ,condensing the model in state space directly. Two iterative schemes for each way are given respectively. Hence four iterative schemes for dynamic condensation of nonclassically damped models are discussed in this paper. A high building with a tuned mass damper is applied to show the efficiency of these schemes.
Digital simulation has recently become the preferred method for designing complex and dynamic systems. Simulation packages provide interactive, block-diagram environment for modeling and simulating dynamic models. The block diagrams in simulation models are flowcharts which describe the components of dynamic systems and their interaction. This paper is the first part of the study for determining the seismic behavior of soil systems. The aim of this part is to present the constructed block diagrams for discrete-time analysis of seismic site amplification in layered media for vertically propagating shear waves. Detailed block diagrams are constructed for single and multiple soil layers by considering wave propagation with and without damping, respectively. The block diagrams for recursive filter to model attenuation in discrete-time form are also constructed. Finite difference method is used for strain calculation. The block diagrams are developed by utilizing Simulink which is a software add-on to Matlab.

We consider a Bayesian forcasting method for the analysis of repeated surveys. It is assumed that the parameters of the superpopulation model at each time follow a stochastic model. We propose Bayesian prediction procedures for the finite population total under multiprocess dynamic generalized linear models. The multiprocess dynamic model offers a powerful framework for the modelling and analysis of time series which are subject to a abrupt changes in pattern. Some numerical studies are provided to illustrate the behavior of the proposed predictors.
Three representative dam-break models, HEC-1, DAMBRK, and SMPDBK were analyzed respectively in theri theories and then applied to the failure of Teton Dam for which some observed data exist. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that: (1) HEC-1, which uses the hydrologic routing method, produces stable solutions for almost all the cases that were tested in this study; (2) DAMBRK, which uses the dynamic routing method, is most accurate among the three models; (3) SMPDBK, which uses the generalized dynamic routing relationships, is most economical and easily applicable.

One of the most important processes to accurately predict structural responses is to evaluate accurate structural dynamic characteristics using finite element(FE) models. The numerical structural dynamic characteristics usually show considerable discrepancies with the measured ones because structural details are commonly simplified in the FE models. To identify such discrepancies, FE models of them have been calibrated using the measured dynamic characteristics in previous researches. In this study, the dynamic characteristics were measured for a historic cathedral and the FE model of it was calibrated using the measured results as a reference. Finally, a procedure of the FE model construction for the unreinforced masonry cathedral were tentatively proposed.

Internal damping plays an important role in some rotor dynamic systems with the use of various materials for shafts, for example, composite material. However, although the effects of internal damping have been investigated for a couple of decades, there are several different internal damping models in use, none of which are accepted as the most reliable model. The purpose of this paper is to compare the results of dynamic analysis of rotor systems with several different internal damping models. The exact dynamic element method is used to formulate and analyze the problem. The simulation results provided in this paper may be useful for the dynamic analysis of high rotor systems subject to significant internal damping.

During the dynamic analysis of a system, the Coulomb friction law is emploved to calculate the friction force. Since the static friction coefficient is only employed during the zero relative velocity, it is impractical to employ the coefficient during the dynamic analysis. To calculate the static friction force, therefore, some friction models have been developed. In this study, the integration stability and the accuracy of the models are investigated with some numerical examples. The effect of time step size during the numerical integration is also investigated. The numerical study shows that the friction model employed for most commercial codes is not as good as the one proposed in this study.
Crime is not a completely random event but rather shows a pattern in space and time. Capturing the dynamic nature of crime patterns is a challenging task. Crime prediction models that rely only on neighborhood influence and demographic features might not be able to capture the dynamics of crime patterns, as demographic data collection does not occur frequently and is static. This work proposes a novel approach for crime count and hotspot prediction to capture the dynamic nature of crime patterns using taxi data along with historical crime and demographic data. The proposed approach predicts crime events in spatial units and classifies each of them into a hotspot category based on the number of crime events. Four models are proposed, which consider different covariates to select a set of independent variables. The experimental results show that the proposed combined subset model (CSM), in which static and dynamic aspects of crime are combined by employing the taxi dataset, is more accurate than the other models presented in this study.
Customer population management models can be classified into three categories: the first category includes the models that analyze the customer population at cohort level; the second one deals with the customer population at aggregate level; the third one has interest in the interactions among the customer populations in the competitive market. Our study proposes a model that can analyze the dynamics of customer population in consumer-durables market at aggregate level. The dynamics of customer population includes the retention curves from the purchase or at a specific duration time, the duration time expectancy at a specific duration time, and customer population growth or decline including net replacement rate, intrinsic rate of increase, and the generation time of customer population. For this study, we adopt mathematical ecology models, redefine them, and restructure interdisciplinary models to analyze the dynamics of customer population at aggregate level. We use the data of previous research on dynamic customer population management at cohort level to compare its results with those of ours and to demonstrate the useful analytical effects which the precious research cannot provide for marketers.
