  • The vibration shape of the structure with arbitrary boundary condition under excitation is determined by the governing equation and the boundary condition and driving force. In this paper, driving point impedance that is defined by the ratio of the driving force at one point to the velocity of that point is selected as a measure to identify the boundary condition. First, this paper deals with a string with arbitrary boundary condition. It is selected because of its simplicity, but generality of which exhibits the desired physical phenomena. Particularly the relation among the driving point impedance, the boundary condition and the vibration shape is dealt as a primary step to identify the boundary condition by using the driving point impedance.

  • This paper presents a method of obtaining transmission network equivalents from the network's response to the pulse excitation signal. Proposed method is base on Prony signal analysis and jtransfer function identification technique. As a result Thevenin-type of discrete-time filter model can be generated. It can reproduce the driving point impedance characteristic of the network.

  • The problem of realizing a driving-Point impedance, the argument, $\theta$o, of which is as constant as possible over a given frequency reange was considered. An optimal design technique was applied by varying systematically the shape of the distributed element and the parameter values of the lumped elements. As a result it was possible to make the argument over two decades of frequencies within-2.5$^{\circ}$ for $\theta$o=- 30$^{\circ}$ and -60$^{\circ}$ and very flat above a certain frequency for $\theta$o=-45$^{\circ}$.

  • This paper introduces attempts to obtain the 'representative' characteristics of the mechanical impedance of seated Korean subjects under vertical vibration. Individual responses of driving-point mechanical impedance obtained from forty-one Korean subjects are illustrated. Four kinds of vibration levels and three different sitting postures are selected to collect the responses of each subject. Those individual responses are used to estimate the 'mean' mechanical impedance, which may be expected to be a representative model to Korean subjects. Several interesting features of the estimated mechanical impedance are suggested and compared to those of ISO/DIS 5982.

  • In this paper a new analytic method for Ladder networks by weighted tree is proposed. In contrast to conventional tree concept that represents only information structure, in this paper, a tree with hierarchical structure is established by giving wei체t of impedance Z and admittance Y to branch and representing each node of its branch as a pair of voltage and current. Then, by defining generation level from tree structure and by parsing between standand level and arbitrary level, driving point impedance, transfer function and transfer impedance are simultaneously obtained instead of complex calculation method by inspection. The validity of this method is proved by the reciprocal theorem and this method is applied to four-terminal constants and the feedback network.

  • An experiment method has been developed to analyse the vibration characteristics of marine propeller blades, and vibration tests have been carried out on the model scale propeller in air and in water. The driving point transfer function(acceleration/excitation force) has been measured and modified by compensating the attachment effect of the impedance head. The measured natural frequencies in air have been compared with the theoretical results by an in-house FEM code PROSTEC. The added masses have been derived by comparing the measured natural frequencies in air and in water, and the results have been compared to the results using existing formula based on experience.

  • The driving-point impedance of the center-fed planar dipole antenna is obtained using the method of moments (MOM). For the thin dipole antenna, our numerical result is compared with that of the inverse method by D. R. Rhodes as well as the known solutions of equivalent wire antenna. For the frequencies of L-band and S-band, the driving-point impedances of the thick planar dipole antennas are measured by experiment and compared with the numerical results.

  • Impedance of a post mount structure supporting a microwave diode in the X-band rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the induced EMF method. Probe measurement of the driving point impedance of the post mounu shows a close agreement with the theoretical calulation when the gap of the post mount is near the bottom wall of the waveguide.
