  • The fracture characteristic of the bonded interface under the application of a sliding load to a double cantilevered specimen manufactured using lightweight material was examined. Inhomogeneously bonded materials such as Al6061-T6, CFRP, and CFRP-Al were employed. In the experiment, the specimen was loaded on both directions by applying a shearing load to the bonding interface. The experimentally obtained stress, specific strength and energy release rate values were examined. CFRP exhibited excellent specific strength. The experimental results demonstrated that the inhomogeneous bonded material CFRP-Al exhibited an overall high performance in comparison with the single materials.

  • Detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element (FE) analyses of double-edge cracked tension (DE(T)) specimens are carried out to investigate the effect of the relative crack length and the thickness on experimental J testing schemes. Finite element analyses involve systematic variations of relevant parameters, such as the relative crack depth and plate width-to-thickness ratio. Furthermore, the strain hardening index of material is systematically varied, including perfectly plastic (non-hardening) cases. Based on FE results, a robust experimental J estimation scheme is proposed.

  • We obtain Lipschitz type characterization and double integral characterization for Fock-type spaces with the norm $${\parallel}f{\parallel}^p_{F^p_{m,{\alpha},t}}\;=\;{\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits_{{\mathbb{C}}^n}}\;{\left|{f(z){e^{-{\alpha}}{\mid}z{\mid}^m}}\right|^p}\;{\frac{dV(z)}{(1+{\mid}z{\mid})^t}}$$, where ${\alpha}>0$, $t{\in}{\mathbb{R}}$, and $m{\in}\mathbb{N}$. The results of this paper are the extensions of the classical weighted Fock space $F^p_{2,{\alpha},t}$.

  • A double-heterostructure AIGaAs/GaAs PHEMT (Pseudomorphic High Electron Mobility Transistor) using digital recess has been successfully realized. Futhermore, the differences of gm,nax, fT, fmax between two samples are as low as 0.62%, 1.58% and 2.56 % respectively. Experimental results are presented demonstrating the etch rate and Process invariability with respect to hydrogen peroxide and acid exposure times with uniformity among devices on a sample.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging with Intermolecular Double Quantum Coherences

  • Recently a new method for magnetic resonance imaging based on the detection of relatively strong signal from intermolecular multiple quantum coherences (iMQCs) is reported. Such a signal would not be observable in the conventional framework of magnetic resonance; it originates in long-range dipolar couplings that are traditionally ignored. In this paper, we present the results of experimental studies to assess the feasibility of intermolecular double quantum coherences (iDQCs) imaging in humans. We show that the iDQC images are readily observable at 4T and that they do indeed provide different contrast than appears in conventional images.

  • For a double array of random elements {$V_{mn};m{\geq}1,\;n{\geq}1$} in a real separable Banach space, some mean convergence theorems and weak laws of large numbers are established. For the mean convergence results, conditions are provided under which $k_{mn}^{-\frac{1}{r}}\sum{{u_m}\atop{i=1}}\sum{{u_n}\atop{i=1}}(V_{ij}-E(V_{ij}|F_{ij})){\rightarrow}0$ in $L_r$ (0 < r < 2). The weak law results provide conditions for $k_{mn}^{-\frac{1}{r}}\sum{{T_m}\atop{i=1}}\sum{{\tau}_n\atop{j=1}}(V_{ij}-E(V_{ij}|F_{ij})){\rightarrow}0$ in probability where {$T_m;m\;{\geq}1$} and {${\tau}_n;n\;{\geq}1$} are sequences of positive integer-valued random variables, {$k_{mn};m{{\geq}}1,\;n{\geq}1$} is an array of positive integers. The sharpness of the results is illustrated by examples.

Terbium and Tungsten Co-doped Bismuth Oxide Electrolytes for Low Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • We developed a novel double dopant bismuth oxide system with Tb and W. When Tb was doped as a single dopant, a Tb dopant concentration more than 20 mol% was required to stabilize bismuth oxides with a high conductivity cubic structure. High temperature XRD analysis of 25 mol% Tb-doped bismuth oxide (25TSB) confirmed that the cubic structure of 25TSB was retained from room temperature to $700^{\circ}C$ with increase in the lattice parameter. On the other hand, we achieved the stabilization of high temperature cubic phase with a total dopant concentration as low as ~12 mol% with 8 mol% Tb and 4 mol% W double dopants (8T4WSB). Moreover, the measured ionic conductivity of 10T5WSB was much higher than 25TSB, thus demonstrating the feasibility of the double dopant strategy to develop stabilized bismuth oxide systems with higher oxygen ion conductivity for the application of SOFC electrolytes at reduced temperature. In addition, we investigated the long-term stability of TSB and TWSB electrolytes.

Flexural performance of double skin composite beams at the Arctic low temperature

  • This paper presents the flexural performance of double skin composite beams (DSCBs) at different Arctic low temperatures. 12 DSCBs were prepared and tested under two-point loading at different Arctic low temperatures of 20, -30, -50, and -70℃. The studied parameters include low-temperature level (T), steel-faceplate thickness (t), shear span ratio (λ), and spacing of headed studs (S). The experimental investigations under two-point loading tests showed that flexural failure occurred to all DSCBs, even including the specimen designed with the small λ ratio of 2.9. The ultimate strength behaviours of DSCBs were improved due to the improved mechanical properties of constructional materials and the confinement on shear connectors. The DSCB subjected to two-point loading and low temperatures exhibits a five-stage working mechanism. The stiffness and strength indexes of DSCBs increase linearly with temperature and t value increasing, while decreasing as shear span ratio boosts. In the contrast, the change of S value from 150 to 200 mm has little effect on the ultimate strength behavior of DSCB.
