The purpose of this study was to investigate the individual change, disaster awareness, and psychological stress of rural residents who experienced natural disasters, and to find measures to cope with the disaster of rural residents. The subjects of this study were rural residents living in Cheongju city, Chungcheongnamdo province, which suffered direct or indirect damage due to heavy rain in July, 2017. Survey and interview methods were used. There were significant differences in perception of disaster according to gender, and many residents were suffering from post traumatic stress. Finally, the present study suggests directions for growth after the disaster of rural people.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the current status of school safety education and the differences in knowledge and practice of middle school students. Methods: A structured questionnaire was distributed to 418 middle school students in J province. The questionnaires consisted of 35 questions on the status of school safety education as well as the four school safety education domains of first aid, disaster safety, traffic safety, and daily life. Data were analyzed using frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, a t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlations. Results: Awareness regarding the top seven standards for school safety and interest in school safety education were both relatively low. Among all the different kinds of safety accidents, those related to school violence(33.8%) and life safety(24.9%) were experienced the most in school. A more pleasant school life and better peer relationships led to interest in school safety(p=.000)(p=.000), awareness regarding the top seven standards for school safety(p=.022)(p=.009), adoption of coping measures(p=.000)(p=.000), and practice(p=.000)(p=.000) in case of safety accidents(p=.000)(p=.000). Conclusion: To increase awareness regarding the seven standards for school safety education and raise interest in safety education, it is necessary to cultivate experts and actively utilize them and to prepare systematic and continuous school safety education programs.

This study was performed to evaluate the safety level of consciousness of college dorm life, and to suggest the problem derivation and to improve the prevention of accidents. The survey research was performed to investigate the contents of safety training for 150 people, and the effectiveness, the demands of safety were also examined. The risk factors were identified in order to assess the level of personal security awareness. The survey was performed for the knowledge of risky behaviors, such as disaster preparedness tips. The research showed that the satisfaction and effectiveness of safety training was high by investigation. Through the research, the recognition factor of the accident, which occurs by a lack of understanding for specific responses, must be enhanced using the safety training to respond adequately when disaster occurs.
In this study, the current status of foreigners living in the country was examined and the problems and demands regarding the occurrence of disasters from various nationalities who are actually living in the country were investigated. The result showed that it would be necessary to secure various channels for them to receive information regarding the disaster and safety service and provide information they want continuously with great interest. Also, it would be necessary to prepare institutional measures to solve the language barrier and difficulties in the way of reporting at the national level.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess school health teachers' awareness of the severity of natural disasters and nursing core competencies related to disasters. Methods: This cross-sectional study asked 119 school health teachers to complete structured questionnaires sent by email and mobile phones from Feb to Aug, 2017. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 21.0 statistical program. Results: The predictor that had a significant effect on school health teachers' core competency was the experience with natural disaster safety education. Its explanatory power was 14.3%. Conclusion: The finding of this study suggests a strong need for the implementation of disaster-related education targeting school health teachers in order to improve their disaster management ability.

The vast majority of the disaster prevention design research in Korea has focused on the macro-level interventions such as examining the existing systems and approaches, instituting revised policies, systematically establishing intervention programs, and evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions. However, little has focused on systematically challenging individuals' awareness using micro-level intervention. The present paper introduces approaches to micro-level intervention by infusing narrative-based simulation, and further suggests the implications on balancing the approaches of both micro-level and macro-level interventions.
The purpose of this study is to analyze which factors affect safety awareness of foreign workers and international students. In the correlation analysis, individual characteristics related to the safety awareness of foreign workers were nationality, status of stay(visa types), place of work, educational background, and Korean proficiency while international students were relevant with only the types of residence. There were significant differences in the safety awareness of foreign workers in nationality, status of stay(visa types), region of residence, educational background, place of work, and Korean proficiency. However, there was a significant difference only in the types of residence for the international students. In the regression analysis of factors affecting safety awareness, there were significant differences in nationality, status of stay(visa types), place of work, and Korean proficiency in the case of foreign workers. It was analyzed that nationality and status of stay had a negative (-) effect, and the place of work and Korean proficiency had a positive (+) effect. In the case of international students, it was analyzed that only the types of residence had a negative (-) effect on safety awareness.
This research is to assess the relationship Big Data attributes and disaster response process. The hypothesis are designed to form decision making between situation awareness and disaster response by defining major attribute of Big Data(Volume, Variety, Velocity, Complexity). It is proved whether there is a moderating effect in cause-and-effect relationship by visualizing Big Data. To test the hypotheses, it was conducted a questionnaire survey of civil servants in charge of disaster-related government employees, and collected 320 data(without 12 undependable responses). The research findings are suggested the attributes of accumulation, expandability, flexibility, real-time, analytical, combination of Big Data have a strong effect on disaster manager's situation awareness.
Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the public awareness of landslide and check dams in 2015-2020 using the big data platform 'Hyean' and to confirm the utilization of this platform in disaster prevention areas. Method: The total amount, number of detection by period by media, and affirmative and negative trends of a search for 'landslide' and 'check dam' in 2015-2020 were analyzed using a keyword search of 'Hyean.' Result: There is significant lack of public awareness of check dam compared to landslide, and the trend is more noticeable in the conspicuous gap of data amount between the news and SNS media. The number and the timing of the search for 'landslide' coincided with the actual occurrence of landslide, while the detection of 'check dam' was less related to it. Relatively affirmative preception for the check dam is inferred, but it was difficult to confirm accurate statistical affirmative and negative trends in the disaster prevention field using 'Hyean.' Conclusion: Unlike the experts who expect positive public awareness of check dam, the statistic results show that the public awareness of the check dam as an effective countermeasure against landslide was extremely low. Active promotion of erosion control projects should be carried out first, and a balanced sample survey should accompany online and periodic field surveys. Since there is a limit to grasping the effective perception in the field of disaster prevention area using 'Hyean', it should be very cautious to establish local/governmental policies using it.
Due to the increase in awareness of school safety after the Sewol ferry disaster, it became necessary to improve the capability to prevent a safety accident at school and to respond to an accident in the case of emergency as well as the awareness of safety issues. Therefore, it is necessary for educational institutions to reinforce safety measures autonomously, and the importance of supports and cooperation from agencies related to the safety of local community is also emphasized. However, it is quite difficult for schools and the Office of Education to prevent safety accidents only with their own capability, and safety accidents can be prevented through the supports from agencies involved in safety of local communities. Therefore, the status and cooperation system of educational institutions and relevant authorities were reviewed theoretically in this study. In addition, a field investigation was carried out to examine the awareness of disaster and safety, and cooperation status of officials in charge of practical disaster-related works. Moreover, this study intended to present a measure to establish the safety cooperation system between educational institutions and agencies involved in safety of local community in the future based on the findings.
